This story came from a time when I was using the lake tool with the Extra Terrains Tool uploaded awhile back. I held it down for around 16 or 17 seconds and then what wasn't water in this small town turned to water. Giant floods began popping up here and therefore completely destroying this regions advantages, giving it a dark future.

I decided to base this on, like a hurricane came through town and just wiped it out.

Keep in mind that this is actually the games pictures, just converted to JPG. These were not affected by MS Paint, Gimp, Photoshop, Paint.net, or any other editor you can come up with...

Episode 1: Trajedy Strikes

People who evacuated came back to these horrible scenes.

94784355.jpg

If you lived in the SimWorld you would have had to experience Katrina to understand this huge calamity:

56421775.jpg

The Above Picture used to be open grass and meadows...:

61063862.jpg

27332654.jpg

30248984.jpg

The above picture is Highway 288, which in this case is Main St. It used to be a bustling huge road network, now it is just dead and empty. One Single tree pokes up in this small neighborhood of homes that lined Main St.

Some of the survivors chose to move back into their homes.

91712439.jpg

However some of those brave folks tried to forge the dirt roads, which became pits of mud. Some cars ended up getting stuck, look extremely closely and you will see a van and motorcycle, as well as a car completely submerged, and a red car with his front end getting buried.

Anyway, here are the remainder pictures:

78228779.jpg

65230980.jpg

And now what didn't get that flooded did get flooded up above people's homes and businesses from the huge thunderstorms that dumped buckets of rain onto the barren landscape:

rains.jpg

idiots.jpg

Look at the idiots who thought that they could brave this... And also look at that guys backyard whose fance snapped in half like a twig...

And now from region view. Notice the place where land meets water, that is where the initial flooding took place

Please post your suggestions, questions, and comments.

They See YouReplies From The Audience:

    CLR95: Thanks!

Schulmanator: Indeed it is. And Thanks!

Sirron Kcuhc: If they do, it might take years...

    Now Onto The Update:

As you can tell from the below image:

    Olde Time Kroger

That the immense water levels up at that Olde Time Kroger have gone down, but the danger is still high.

That is what I call an underwater tunnel, FOR SURE!!!

    What a bunch of idiots...

Still, despite officials warings, a bunch of idiots who are apparently out of their minds get stuck underwater here.

Wait, I have show this before, oh well

Rains out to the north of Rain Port continue to flood the empty landscape there, as shown below:

    LIGHTNING-THUNDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!RAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Except this time you can barely see.

Now onto what this update is about.

First thing that the region disaster/calamity board members had to do is find out where on earth Highway 228 was hidden. So they took out a few boats and found some weird depressions in the water. Through these depressions they found this:

    SideofHighway.jpg

They also found out that the hurricane tore part of this highway right off the ground, and they assume it is now floating amongst the waves:

    The underwater passage dohdohdohdoh...

They have estimated that the highway is following a certain path, the path that it did before the flood. So with their careful research, they have estimated that the highway runs along this path:

    graphygraphygraphy....

Meanwhile back in town the things are as same as ever.  Submerged retaining walls:

kroger wall, the wall of kroger instead of china... that I hate being there...

And people who think that they can live here, or continue to live here anyway:

    Idiots, still

And one guy and his bent tree that sits out in the middle of the remainder of the road:

Bent tree, you need to chop it down!

He needs to trim that branch before it destroys those two houses, apparently!!!

Anyway, here are a one more region shot and a graph:

    Graph!

More on the Eagleton Fault (earthquake fault that also poses disasters)is coming in the next update:

BTW, the areas circled in red are the ones that were affected the most due to flooding.

The area currently is at risk for earthquake due to the shifting of that fault. Find out more in the next update:

This is a chart of the highway layout and the original land setting:

    Another graph

There is also a poll underway. Please vote on what concept they outta use to remove the water from the area.

Please vote! Please! Polls close 5 updates from now, that means you have close to 1-2 weeks to make your decision. LOL 18.gif

    That is all for now.

Please post all of your comments, questions, and suggestions.

    Until next time, the end.

    Replies From The Audience:

    Simcitymaster13: Indeed it is

Markus J: Perhaps more will move in in the distant future

    Now onto the Update:

This picture is the original position of the fault:

    Fault Original.

(the above pic was taken 8 months before the hurricane).

And even more violent winds/rain began to continue to shift the plates at the fault.

Then it began to get worse and worse and worse. Huge intense rain began to pour up to an inch of rain every 20 minutes!

    Rain at fault!

^Have you ever seen such heavy rain, that lasts for like close to a day, causes water levels to rise up like that?

With all this rain, meterologists found out that the initial hurricane didn't do that much flooding. At first they thought that the waves washed to far ashore. Turns out it had been raining almost entirely non-stop for 4 days straight now. Sometimes it would be trickles of rain, sometimes it would be like the usual everyday spring thunderstorm rain, and then today, was the worst of it all.

As you can tell, the pores between the plates filed with water, causing the rain water to seep into the mud. The rain acids began slightly eating at the rock plates. Rain washed all the mud apart, until almost both plates were entirely exposed.

    Plates

The was no dirt, or mud under that water, just solid rock. Had the sun turned up the heat to 5000 degrees and the water just disappeared, then the plates would be entirely exposed. This erosion and immense shifting of the plates caused the meterologists of the area to evacuate what was left of the town.

    36 minutes later, it came.

    quake 1

The above quake was a 2.7 on the richtor scale. And this, happened to damage the 2 plates even more, therefore entirely splitting the fault in half, just at the right place. Rainwater soon came gushing into the empty pores there, filling them up like so:

    afterquake1

I put that picture to the max. 800x600 to give a better idea of what had happened. Then the heavy rains came down again.

    quakerain

The plates began shifting again. And therefore,

    Another quake

    Another quake strikes.

More on these earthquakes are coming in the next update.

What Things Are Looking Like Back At The Flood:

Worse, worse, and more worse. Rainwater just pounds the area, raising the flood levels up to 27 feet above the original land level in some places. Here are the pics:

    Kroger

    Road

    rain

And I want you to look at how deep underwater this house is...

    home underwater

I enlarged the size to 800x600 so you can see it better.

Anyway, here are a couple region shots:

    ruptured fault

    entire area

Anyway, be sure to see the top of our page for the poll underway. Four more updates left to vote! Vote Now!

Anyway, that is all for now. Be sure to post all your comments, questions, and suggestions.

    Until next time, the end.

    Episode 4: Gone for Good

The past week was one of the most tragic throughout this terrible catastrophe.

Even though the sun is finally shining bright across the land, and the downpours of rain have stopped, and the hurricane has finally finished its onward course inland, the town of Riverfront has especially faced even more disaster than they bargained for.

    ShinyWater.jpg

The weeks previous disastrous event left a huge scar on Riverfront, now known as Hurricane City. Huge amounts of damage have taken place, everywhere.

    FencedOff.jpg

So much it was extremely dangerous to go any further south than the tiny neighborhood than shown.

Boy they must not really want anyone going near the water

    Fence.jpg

Fences were set up literally everywhere.

The damage was indeed tremendous. Mostly streets were torn right up off the ground, leaving homes and businesses without any road access whatsoever, making half of the remaining residents leave the town.

    DamagedTown.jpg

The death toll of the earthquake stands at like somewhere around a good 190 right now. The earthquake caused another sinkhole in the area, this time spreading into central. More info on Central will be coming in the next update.

Meanwhile, the only major road going into this town, split apart. That means now the town has no connection to the outside world whatsoever.

    NoWayOut.jpg

    Sinkhole.jpg

More News on the Fault Break

Investigators have found out that the earthquakes last week split the fault in half, therefore causing that huge crack in the ground. Turns out a tiny (in comparison to the entire 2000 mile long fault) plate no longer than 50 feet long was sitting in between the two major plates. The hurricane winds and rain began to make this plate sink into the mud. That therefore caused the rainwater to come flowing inwards.

As of right now the fault water is drying up. As a matter of fact, a lot of the free standing puddles of water are now gone. However that one stubborn area of water just won't dry up. That area is now referred to as:

    Lake Hurricane

    Fault.jpg

It is expected to be one that will never dry up.

    That is all for today.

Remember, the poll is underway for three (3) more updates now. Vote Now!

Also please post your questions, comments, and suggestions.

    Until next time, the end

    Episode 5: Development Part 1

It has been some time since anything interesting happened in the Hurricane City, and since water levels have gone down to only ten feet, people think it is time for development.

They are debating on these areas.

Gold is areas that will continue to be developed. This one is not part of the vote

Red is unincorporated areas that may or may not be developed depending on the vote

Development.jpgThere are 4 areas that were found good to be developed. As you can see they would be 1,2,3, and 4.

Yorbi Yasha Island and Central will be developed by default as mentioned earlier.

Here are the pictures for all the areas.

    Area 1

Area1.jpg Sorry about the grid, didn't notice it until I posted the picture

    Area 2

    Area 3

    Area3.jpgArea 4

    Area4.jpg

    Yorbi Yasha Island

    YorbiYasha.jpg

    Central

    Central.jpg

    Those are the areas.

Anyway, votes begin now and end next update.

BTW, click on the images for full resolution.

Also there are two (2) more updates left for the vote on the cleanup efforts. Vote on both now!

    That is all for now.

Please post all your comments, questions, and suggestions.

    Until next time, the end.

First of all, allow me to say that Area 2 won over Area 3, 3-1 vote. Thanks to all who participated.

    Episode 6

    Mr Richman Comes to Town

Wondering who Mr. Richman is? A goofy name I came up with for a man that will be involved in this CJ for the rest of it's existence. He has a long story behind him as well.

Since the fall of Riverville in the catastrophic earthquake and hurricane, there has been no contracting company around. Richman is going to change that.

He met with President Joshriddle early Saturday Morning to discuss buying out a share of the land in northeast Rain Port (which is area 2). He also wanted to talk about starting a small contracting company. The president gave him both for 2,000,000 bucks, enough to get the region back up on it's feet, prepare for cleanup efforts, and other things as well.

Mr Richman decided to run his new business out of this small home in area 2

    richpersonshome.jpg

He built his blue-roofed cabin up there and surrounded it with huge tropical rainforest trees, which that area is just that. Rainforest. The ground up there is somewhat damp and moist, making it possible to operate farms without irrigation canals, and the more farms we get, the more exports we get and better stock at the local general store, which brings in a steady amount of profit each year.

Model of house was by Mattb325

Richman got off to a quick start. First off was the residental area.

    GraphicsGlitch.jpg

Sorry about the graphics glitch. I didn't notice it until this update was ready to go.

res.jpgFarms bring in profit the same way as mentioned earlier.

    farm-mosiac.jpg

I decided to paste the other image of the farm onto the original one, and fill the dormant areas with a random screenie I took.

    Seasonaltrees.jpg

Next up to build was the city center. Nothing much there though at the current time.

CityCenter.jpgThe local store is the one next to the 7-11. I forgot where it came from though.

In the way of education, no school for miles away, and this isn't the 1800's is it? NO! So the little kids LISTEN to school up here.

    Schooloftheair.jpg

99% of that goes to Abcvs, 1% credit to me, cause I had to plop it. 9.gif. The inhabitants have also made it function as a normal radio station as well.

I leave you with one final image of Area 2, as it will temporarly be called.

    entiretown.jpg

Remember, one more update till we decide on the cleanup efforts. That is a 1.

Thanks again to all who took part of the development poll.

That will be all for tonight.

Please post all your suggestions, questions, and comments.

    Until next time, The end.

A tropical disturbance in time can grow to a more intense stage by attaining a specified sustained wind speed. The progression of tropical disturbances can be seen in the three names below.

    Tropical Depression (0-38 mph)

    Tropical Storm (39-73 mph)

    Hurricane (Cat 1: 74-95 mph)

    Hurricane (Cat 2: 96-110 mph)

    Hurricane (Cat 3: 111-130 mph)

    Hurricane (Cat 4: 131-135 mph)

    Hurricane (Cat 5: 155 + mph)

Hurricanes can often live for a long period of time -- as much as two to three weeks. They may initiate as a cluster of thunderstorms over the tropical ocean waters.

Once a disturbance has become a tropical depression, the amount of time it takes to achieve the next stage, tropical storm, can take as little as half a day to as much as a couple of days. It may not happen at all. The same may occur for the amount of time a tropical storm needs to intensify into a hurricane. Atmospheric and oceanic conditions play major roles in determining these events.

A hurricane is a powerful, spiraling storm that begins over a warm sea, near the equator. When a hurricane hits land, it can do great damage through its fierce winds, torrential rains, inland flooding, and huge waves crashing ashore.

So why didn't they make the trees and seas are not moving around the spiraling storm animation like storm surge with any wind speed up to 80 mph or any greater so? the storm surge is look like greater better into hurricanes.

This animation shows the typical damage caused by hurricanes at the each of the five intensity categories on the Saffir-Simpson animation like a tropical depression, tropical storm and hurricane can have a look at the play animation like hurricane force winds. Click here to show the animation of the tropical storm can cause turning into hurricanes is log onto http://www.wral.com/weather/hurricanes/flash/1462556/ and http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ssurge/animations/hurricane_stormsurge.swf
