-Buses and Concrete Trucks in UDI

-Cannot level terrain error when you try to build a road on a clearly level terrain.

-trees that stick up under elevated freeways

-accidentally demoliting the wrong tile and having to rebuild an entire bridge structure with puzzle pieces

-when you want to drive your sim's car, but they are out of home walking around somewhere, and it takes at least 5 minutes to dispatch them home.

-extremely unrealistic turns eg. a bus in a cul-de-sac

-when your driving through a tunnel and the car automatically drives out of the side of a hill

-when your UDI mission is to get to a train station, that is behind your train

-hang gliders!!

-This bridge is too low for ferries error

-unrealistic beaches - for some reason the sand appears to be a solid floating block, no smooth transition whatsoever

-trucks that randomly appear out of nowhere and appear to snap in half.

-cars appearing infront of you in UDI and causing an explosion

-when you build a new residential area, and all the roads get temporarily clogged with moving trucks

-neighbour connections that go to nowhere just to stop the advisor whining)

-those awkward places where there is a severe lack of space due to either a viaduct, elevated road or freeway, of some type of intersection making it impossible to connect any roads up to anything

-extremely unrealistic corners on aveues and roads

-no way to make realistic suburban neighbourhoods, all streets seen too high capacity for any neighbourhood.

-that grass strip under an elevated freeway, makes any city look empty

-those annoying bus stops, 1x1, really?

-unrealistic freeway exits with no lights stopping traffic flying off the ramp at high speed?

-the irritating school bell

-lack of useful interchanges

-the pollice chopper that always hovers over one spot for months at a time

-the high school building is way too big and out of place

-unlevel terrain and bumpy roads

Collectively on your UDI points, turn UDI off and forget it ever existed. Just click on the My Sims icon, click the bottom (UDI) icon, then click the bottom icon again. F2 gets you back to mayor mode. I think everyone by now knows what i think of this marketing add to a perfectly good simulation.

On several of your other points, this is a simulation game. If you want realism, don't go to a limited finite automaton that is nearly a decade old, and expect it to do what you want. The developers have moved on. I gather that a more realistic scenario is found in Cities XL, if more limited.

When you build a bridge, you are given the option to raise it high enough for ferries. Don't you do that?

Accidentally destroying something you've built with puzzle pieces indicates you should use the in-game save more often. I do agree that the scope of the bulldozer is a little large.

Network awkwardnesses are a result of the scale you are running. Even the largest city is only 16 sq. Km.

Overall, my friend, I think you would complain if you were being hung with a gold rope.

-unlevel terrain and bumpy roads

-Buses and concrete trucks; not sure what you mean exactly with this point?

-Unsuitable grade for construction; even the smallest terrain change can make a difference. The best approach to building is placing single street tiles next to each other. Sort of like a civil engineering job, it works for projects in scope ranging from getting a school to fit to constructing an entire freeway.

-Trees that stick up under elevated freeways; make sure you place the trees realistically. They won't affect traffic at all, but the graphical error is obvious. If you have to, delete the trees or the highway and rebuild either/both.

-Accidental demolition; for this there exists the 'save early and often' policy.

-I haven't UDI'ed consistently in years, so I don't really share this pain. Not much can be done about this.

-The turns can be smoother if you toggle off the 'snap to transit network' option on your UDI dashboard. It's not very efficient though.

-Tunnel driving warps to the side of the hill; you probably have too sharp a grade change inside the tunnel or on the hill you are driving through.

-The only effective way to making railroad UDI work out is to create a radial rail network so that the train can always return to a station in its rear, and no station is at a dead end point near the end of the city tile. I stopped doing this years ago because it was unrealistic.

-There WAS remove hang gliders mod somewhere on the STEX that I can't seem to track down. It may have disappeared, but I have it. Feel free to PM me to send you the file.

-You can raise the bridge height to suit ferries, as Nonny pointed out.

-These might help you: http://www.simpeg.com/forum/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=313 , http://www.simpeg.com/forum/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=316 , http://www.simpeg.com/forum/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=331

-Game error, nothing can be done about it.

-Again, game problem. UDI was very poorly implemented, and has not really been improved upon. Oh, well.

-Could probably be fixed, but I'm not aware that this has happened.

-The advisors are like real time politicians. Nothing but narrow-minded self interest. Don't mind them at all.

-Look around the CJ forum, and in the 'Show Us Your...' threads in the City Building Concepts forum. You'll see how creative people get with the space around bridges and things. There's also things like this: http://klex.blog85.fc2.com/blog-category-1.html . Have an online tool handy to translate Japanese, such as google.com/translate.

-Need smooth curves? Check this mod out. And it'll do a lot more than smooth out your curves, mate. https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/files/file/26793-network-addon-mod-for-windows/

-I suggest looking at the 'Show Us Your Suburbs!' thread. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

-The SFBT has provided a fix to this named the Urban Highway Set. Look it up on https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/Default.htm .

-There's all sorts of bus stops scattered around the internet. The best by far IMHO is the Road Top Mass Transit (RTMT). Look it up on the LEX as well.

-That's just one little detail. Let's not split hairs over everything, now.

-See my last point. :P

-Have a look at the 'Show Us Your Interchanges! - The Sequel' thread. You'll need the Real Highway Mod (RHW, seperate download) in conjunction with the NAM. The ModDB link won't load, so look it up on the LEX. Have patience with this mod, you will need an incredible amount of it. Perfect practice makes perfect.

-There's a fix for the stupid chopper thing on the STEX, or there was, anyways. I can PM you with that file as well.

-There's several high quality high school lots between the STEX and LEX. Have fun.

-Again, on the LEX, multiple smoother slope mods. I recommend Ennedi's, as it not only smooths out the slopes, but it creates a beautiful, curved, ultra-realistic gradient. There are 3 variations to choose from. The urban is my favorite.

Hope I could be of service. :thumb: The thing about SimCity 4 is you must have fun and be patient. :read: VERY patient.

Keep calm and take photographs.

I really hate the auto roads/lot sizes. Even when I hit Alt to turn off Autoroads, instead of the lots making themselves bigger and facing the streets (I like to make 8x8 squares with my streets), they decide to make smaller lots pointing at each other in the middle. CTRL will let me make bigger lots, of course, but then I have to zone one...lot....at...a....time....

I am sorry you don't have the strength to lift your finger off the mouse button. When did this affliction arrive?

Um thanks? I don't mind it for small cities, but zoning large sections one lot at a time isn't very fun :( Ah well. Still a fun game.

I just hate the fact that the sims are so stupid. Several times i've moved in a "My sim" right next to a school or fire station, hospital, ect and then (after a few game months) complain about the lack of. Or if I make a Nuclear power plant explode they know better not to live there but they still work there. Oh well luckily EA and Maxis didn't think to give the sims to many brains or else i'd be having riots all the time.

If you want smarter Sims, install the (or the entire if you like). Even Maxis admitted that the central changes made to the NAM traffic simulator will make the Sims smarter. They'll still go to work at nuclear power plants (though it's debatable whether that's a measure of intelligence), but they won't get lost two feet away from their house.

As for the nuclear power plants, who built them, anyway? :D

Yes. It's called the Persistent Automata Mod.

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote><i>Originally posted by: <b>Evillions</b></i>

Commute Time.</end quote></div>

Yes indeed! Ive heard of 30 to 40 minute commutes! And those stubborn sims will use any excuse to get out of going to work. And it is poor people living there, a little tiny Bobs Grease Pit across the street, they can just walk there and go to work, but no! They got to take the busy freeway, and try to beat traffic to downtown! And <strong><em><u>they end up abandoning their houses due to commute time!!!</u></em></strong>  I thought they were so stupid!

And is their a patch or fix on Simtropolis or somewhere else that will <strong><em><u>fix the cars appearing and dissappearing randomly?</u></em></strong>

I really just hate that it crashes to desktop often. Because of that, I developed a habit of literally unconsciously saving the game every 3 minutes or so. If the game crashes, I don't remember when the last save was. Then I'll pull the city back up and be like oh, I didn't lose as much as I thought. Go me.

The only thing I don't like about the game is the lack of in-game-seasons without CC and the fact that there is no weather. Other than that, I love SC4.

I hate when I have to lay down the water pipes... That's 10 minutes wasted at doing something ininteresting.

I guess some region sizes drive me mad, especially with filling in rural areas. =)

But when I look at SC5 I think SC4 isn't such a frustrating game in the end. Well, I hardly play games 1+ years..so 9 years now..
