The region is so beautiful, and the maps were very well made! I love regions where the urban area is conurbada / side by side with the countryside, is so realistic and very beautiful...Congratulations!!! :D

SimCoug: Awesome work!  I love the town progression, and you have some great BATs to set the scene.  To get rid of the streetlights on the SAM streets, all you need to do is go into the NAM folder, find the SAM sub-folder and delete the 'T-21' files from the dirt streets.  I'll try and get back to you regarding your PM questions - I have just been swamped lately.  Your map is so awesome!

Thanks for the info on the more technical aspects of the game...I wish the street side tree mod worked on the SAM streets.

wwetom1: Whoa! This place looks a lot different from the last time I've been here. I love the new theme/look you've got going on. Cities set back in time are very hard to pull off well, but you've nailed it.

Thank you.  I shifted gears within one week when I figured my Martin County region was hopelessly corrupted.  Positive feedback is always helpful.

mastaschmitty: Are the dirt roads from NAM?

They are part of SAM, which is included in NAM.

I believe this is your first comment here?  Thanks.  I like to have a completed region at all times...meaning, most places in the world have developed land of some sort around a city (especially if it is in farmable land).

NMUSpidey: Excellent update!  The view of the old town is great, it looks like they're getting a good start up there in the upper Midwest!

Thanks.  Seeing the comments and my pictures makes me push to keep playing.  I got a little distracted and busy this week with work and new games (damn you Steam!).  There just aren't enough hours in the day for SC4 and other things.  Urgh.

I really like where this is going.. I am actually working on a parallel project that is something like this.. so I like having someone with the same idea that is actually working on it, and of course a beatiful job to be honest..

Are you sure the street tree mod doesnt work? How does Simcoug make it work then? Havent seen any palms in his CJ.. And, I dont know why, but I look at your city and for some reason I think of Kansas..

Anyways, I cant wait for the next update.. and you sure have me as a follower!

I've missed a few updates, but great stuff. Very interesting and realistic ideas for showing the development of a city, like the land plots. I find it interesting, too, looking at old maps of Northern Virginia, how many of the major roads here today were around as long as 100+ years ago and how they got their names. It's also interesting to see how there were towns that are there no more but how roads have retained the names -- the vestiges live on.

    Great map-making tutorials as well!

I bought Cities Skylines. One day in and am loving it so far -- lots of limitations from SC games are no longer present. Some things, like drawing roads/highways/ramps are much easier and more intuitive, but there are other things about SC4 that I miss, like controlling where traffic signals / stop signs go.

All in all better than the last Sim City offerings from (now-defunct) Maxis/EA (e.g. Sim City and Sim City Societies).

Well, I stumbled across my SimCity backups while digging for my old maps to use for my ESL classes.  The seed has been planted.  I think I might be ready to do some more SimCity!  Heck, I've already finished a few more tiles in my map for Ouisconsin.

I've noticed that once again Simtropolis has changed settings and my journal is all messed up for fonts, pictures, etc.  I'll have to remedy those problems.

First, I really need to actually start up SimCity and see if everything will work right!

Then, I'll start going and get an update and clean up the thread!

I've been tempted to buy Cities: Skylines whenever it pops up on sale on Steam, but I'm just not ready to jump into it...I guess I need to see more the direction it is going and if it can end up like SC4...a VASTLY different game than it was 13 years ago or so.
