Hi. I'm a big fan of city building games, historical and modern, and I'm new here.

In order to know this community better, I've started this poll to sound the forums out to understand the range of citybuilder tastes of people around here.

So, do you play any other citybuilding game besides SimCity4 or Cities XL? Are you a fan of modern citybuilders only, or do you like the historical ones too?

(I tried to allow for multiple voting in the poll, but I can't seem to find that option. Either it is absent, [Mod edit: It's not there - Chptrk] . Apologies)

I sometimes play Pharaoh. It can get a bit boring after a while, but it can be good if I want to play a relaxing game for a while.

Well, that's why I didn't add SCS as an option... But I guess it is a citybuilding game, after all.

As for me, I also like to play Pharaoh sometimes. In my opinion, it's still one of the best citybuilders out there when it comes to gameplay.

Currently I'm playing Tropico 3 a lot. It's not as realistic as SC4, but it comprises political management (something SC4 doesn't have), and it surely is fun to play. And the graphics are very good.

I'd have voted for Tropico 3, but after looking at the results first, I decided to go with City Life. I got SCS and CL08 as a "2 for

Anno 1404 has stunning graphics and great gameplay. I have SCS installed, but I barely play it. I also play a fanmade one, named CityScape.

Tropico 3 is the second best city building game out there, after SC4.

My current machine can handle Tropico 2, but I spent most of my remaining allowance on a new Hi-Def monitor for my PC (since my old box monitor went out). That is all they carry now days in the way of monitors. Payed $140 bucks for it (That is how much allowance money I had) so I was thrifty. So as you can now expect I am running near-to-dry. I need to save $6 more bucks before I can buy Tropico 2, which I should and will be playing. Once I upgrade my computer I will be playing Tropico 3.

To me SC4 and Tropico are the best, But I would like to see an element of Geo-political sim mixed in with SC4, build your city, make a country, run it, invade etc. Be friggen awsome that would be.... well. at least to me it would 4.gif

I play OpenTTD sometimes. It's not a city-builder per-se, but it's a transportation management simulator based on the classic Transport Tycoon Deluxe, it's still a lot of fun and has a lot of great mods and patches.

I play Tropico 3 but, I am playing the demo version. Tropico 3 is a city building game that you can build an island city/ country/ state. Or simply build a city in Tropico 3 that will take up the whole island and leave small areas for rural farms, wind power plants, and a military base in a hidden area surrounded by mountains on the island and also, have two airports and tourist attractions and, dive the whole city into small independent cities and, your island will be a big city/ country depending on the size of the island you are playing in.

When I want a five minute break from RL, I've started playing ElectroCity

    http://www.electrocity.co.nz/

If I ever manage to get a score of 100% or [A+A+A+A] I'd probably stop playing, but so far the best I've managed is [b+A+A+A]

I voted City Life because it was the one I played the most. I have only played the demo for Tropico 3 because I have no steam account.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

    Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

i played some games from The Settlers......the early ones are decent and recommending the newer ones are an iffy......my true love belongs with the Stronghold franchise, but im not a fan with their Crusader release. I hope that Stronghold 3 will be amazing and any other Stronghold fan on here should agree with me
