Well people, most of us that have windows xp and play "3D pinball for windows" should have a high score. However, I want to know what your scores are. You can also discuss the game in general in this thread.....
Here's Mine:9.gif
4,725,000 points(Completed 3 missions)

I once got over 10million ( me, my dad and sister) would play at night, taking turns and beating each others scores. Do that for a few YEARS and you get huge amounts =D

Funny thing about Windows 3D Pinball.... it's based on "Space Cadet", one of three tables from a game called FullTilt! Pinball, by Cinematronics and (dun dun) Maxis!

The two tables look exactly the same (though the sidebar image is changed), but there are some key differences in how the two games play:

- in FullTilt, completing a mission netted you 1,000,000 points. In Windows Pinabll, it's only 500,000.

- in Windows Pinball, running the ball over a re-entry light (the lanes above the bumpers) that's already on will turn it off. In FullTillt, doing the same would just score you points and leave the light on. This made upgrading the bumpers easier (upgraded bumpers score more points when hit).

- in FullTilt, putting a ball in the active wormhole would result in it being "locked" and a new ball would be launched. Doing this three times would trigger the Malestrom multiball mode - these lights would flash, and one ball would shoot out of each wormhole. In Windows Pinball, putting a ball in the active wormhole just results in it being spat back out of the same wormhole, just as if none were active. This means no balls are ever locked, which in turn means no Malestrom mode.

- the table physics seem to have changed somewhat. In Windows Pinball, sometimes a ball spat out of the Black Hole Kickout will go into the right outlane (instant death if kicker isn't active). This never happened in FullTilt. The Launch Ramp also seems harder to hit in Windows Pinball, although that could be my imagination.

- in FullTilt, a re-deployed ball would automatically launch at full power. In Windows Pinball, you have to manually relaunch it (which also means you vary the power).

- there's a graphical glitch in Windows Pinball such that how far down the plunger appears to be and how far down it actually is do not match. The plunger graphic depresses slowly, but it reaches full power before it's even a quarter of the way down. In FullTilt, this glitch was not present and the plunger graphic went down at normal speed, matching the actual power of the launch.

All of this serves to make the scores between the two incomparable. My highest score in FullTilt was something like 12-13 million. My highest score in Windows Pinball? Only 5 million and something.

It [the Maxis logo] is actually brighter in "Full Tilt! Pinball"

Although I never played it at home, it was a very entertaining game at the school computer lab.

Highest score I remember is 12,000,000.

The full version has higher resolution and a different graphic than the goofy guy flying the car.

EDIT: Also the Cinematronics here is a different company than the 70s arcade company (and different from Cinemaware)

Even though my PC has Windows 7 I managed to move the .exe from an older PC and still have it. Though I haven't played in a while and there are no real high scores recorded.

just done 2.6 million  (seem tiny to other peoples) I think it's a different maxis as it was published by this Maxis and SC4 Maxis doesn't publish it develops.

btw, you can download the same 3D pinball if your on Vista/W7 basically some guy on XP uploaded the pinball files for others to download.

Though it's quite funny as the resolution is 640x480 on a 1920x1080 screen, but it's still brilliant 4.gif

My comments on this game is unrelated to the scores, but instead the graphics and "physics" of the game. This game has been a part of the Microsoft "playthings" for a LONG time.. (originally it had to be purchased extra as a part of an expansion to windows.. forget what it was called but it had a number of "goodies" in it) I can't say exactly but I'd say 20 years or very close to that. The amazing thing is that this worked on some extremely limited systems by today's standards .. very small memory counts, little or no "gpu's", miniscule displays, often not even in 16 colors.. yet it still looked great and worked well!! The other game that I thought was outstanding by this standard is Age of Empires.. when looked at in the light of other games of its time it was absolutely STUNNING... AOE even holds up "reasonably" by todays standards.. not sure but I'd say its about 15 years or so old now.. hmm just looked 1997 based on "Genie" display technology developed with a 1995 copywrite. I still play both now and then

Maxis published (and did not develop) SimTower and A-Train in addition to Full Tilt! Pinball.
