geez... been quite a while since I last posted a picture here... mainly due to the death of majhost and reluctance to find myself a new picture host... anyways

the longer I looked at the terminal of my main airport in my region, the more uncomfortable I felt with the only access to the terminal being 2 tunnels, so today I reworked it entirely, keeping the tunnels and adding a new avenue leading towards it:

934WRvV.jpg

now off to redesigning the junctions of the tunnels which were a mess also in the first version... and to model a train station suiting the needs I see... probably ditching the train thing again in favor of a subway connection... we'll see...

for the train station, if you decide to keep a railway, you should go for a -15m sunken station, there are some good modern designs that would fit the airport well.

Here are a few:

Fleetwood international airport

it's my 4th airport ever made, and compared to my previous atempts i really think that this one is the best so i'll stick to it. Building airports really takes time.

There are a couple of things to add: some mmp planes, and the development of the agricultural surroundings

arrivals and departures terminals

And I take this occasion to promote my airport and CJ... :)

Here's an overview of Okushiri Airport....

Of course, more in my CJ... :)

I love the amount of detail you have here, art. Also, where did you get the turn around piece for the end of runway and the approach lights?

followed up on that sunken railway station advise and with a bit of editing I guess I can say that's quite ok... still not happy with the embankment of the railway tunnels but meh

I made it myself using the Lot Editor. It's a very simple piece

Rail station looks neat, GMT. Maybe you can try ton cover up the embankments by making the station overhang over the tunnel entrance ?

best I would do is modify the station model so that it fits entirely on one tile, and then place the tunnels so that they start right under the station building.

It can be done easily in the reader.

Open the .LOT file of the station, and under Exemplar file search for "occupant size". Double click to open it and modifiy the values. In order it's Width, Height (don't touch this one) Depth.  Only alter the first and last one. 1=1m etc I think you got it. That's how I do when I need to resize a building to fit a smaller lot.

Yeah that's because it was a props. I didn't know sorry. Turns out you can just resize the lot to 1x3 instead and save as, it works.

G7DBR6K.jpg

Here's a modified lot for you, 1x3 and should have the transit enabled.

Again sorry, I didn't know it was a props instead of a Building.

An interesting design, although, I'd recommend consideration the practicality of a design like that. ;)

Thanks. yep I did. minus diagonal taxiways it's a complete set of 3wide runway puzzlepieces.

so thanks to art's help with making the train station overhanging, here's the result:

Teamwork!  Brilliant  , nice job folks

I thought about this, and am still thinking about it because though I've thought about this, I still have more thinking to do as to stop thinking about it would mean not to think.

Here is the beginnings of my regions commercial airport. Construction of the Lancaster Capitol City Municipal Airport started in May of 1929 with the first flight conducted by to Pittsburgh's Allegheny County Airport by a Eastern Airlines Ford Trimotor on February 20th 1930. By 1935 the airport was conducting fights to and from Allegheny, Philadelphia (Central Airport in Camden, NJ,), NYC (Floyd Bennett Field), Washington DC (Washington-Hoover Airport), and Chicago (Chicago Municipal Airport) via Detroit (Wayne County Airport). The US Army Air Corps and US Navy also utilized the airfield as a training site for their pilots and crews as well a destination point to the Lancaster Barracks north of the city.

The airport is located approximately 4 miles east of center city Lancaster between Kings Highway to the north and the Lincoln Highway to the south. The field is surrounded by Amish and Mennonite farms who fiercely opposed the location but due to its flat topography this site was ultimately chosen and surrounding farmers where compensated for their fields that were lost. On the western boundary is the village of Gordonville. 16,477 sims passed thru it's terminal in 1935.

Overview of the airfield looking north.

Not much to see now but the airport will see major growth in the decades to come!

A shot of it's small terminal.

That's it for now! By the time I get my region to the present time this little wrinky dink airfield will become a respectable international airport serving tourists, business folks, and service members alike! Hope y'all enjoyed it!!
