Now that is a rather large airport. I hope you have a LOT of parking for it.

Hardly realistic, but brilliant!  Well done. (The runways are a bit close together, but when you've got a dozen of them, you'll hardly need to use two right next to each other at the same time!)

So, I know there's a PF bug and most people probably won't be able to see this (but who knows maybe it'll fix it)

@ ESTERNOCLEIDOMASTOID

That's one big airport! How long did it take you to make? 3.gif

But please try and remember that images have to be 800 x 600 or less (you can resize them with the insert image tool and then link to the full one) also can you please, please save them as .jpegs? (they load a lot faster than .png)

And last thing: Don't forget about the 2 post rule.

ESTERNOCLEIDOMASTOID: Just a question. Where are the three a310s along the taxiway heading since there doesn't seem to be any open gates and ramps.

Frdm920, looks good, I just spent the last eight hours building up the Joint Reserve Base on my airport. Most of that time was putting in the grass and filling in the ramps so I know about the boring part. Gave up on my fence line, my sims know better than to cross the "red line".I'll try to post some pics in the next few days but FRAPS is giving me grief.

To Indiana Jones Backpacker i have read your comments and the first thing thank your very much for your comment, the reason that ther runways are so close together because lets say that this airport is a high density airport currently in the middle of lack of space land so everything needed to be closed together like an airport in the future

Nice airport. I like the layout of it. I would look even nicer with the newer airport pieces but it still looks pretty cool.

I like the layout of the internal things like the highways leading to it.

My first ever airport, Dillenburg-West International Airport.

It was quite a struggle to get it done, I'm not content with the road acces, but I am just experimenting with that right now on a new airport. I am open to suggestions

More screenshots will be visible within a few days in my CJ Dillenburg (https://www.simtropolis.com/cityjournals/?p=toc&id=2010)

@Gath22: I actually like your airport a lot. Might have some minor road logistical issues, but it really looks good! Good Job!!

Here is a teaser pic for an upcoming CJ and BAT test city all-in-one.

It doesn't have to be big to be good.

Terminal, which contains just 3 gates for small aircraft.

Note to airport builders: It doesn't have to be big to be good, as long it is done properly and realistically.

Not to be overly offensive but by those criteria your airport is actually pretty lousy.

  • The runway should be twice as long to accommodate even small jet aircraft. It's also a bit on the narrow side but that's caused by the airport pack. And on top of that, the markings are hardly accurate either. I'm not familiar with the exact details of touchdown markings but at least you should have 18 on the other end to complement the 36.
  • The proximity of tall trees and power lines to the runway is quite alarming. There's usually a clear zone of at least a couple of hundred meters (10+ squares) around it.
  • It's true that many small airports only have a single short taxiway to connect the apron to the runway. However, it generally isn't at the very end of the runway and especially not with a bend like that.
  • Airports are usually fenced for security reasons. At the very least, there shouldn't be a road with a sidewalk right at the edge of the apron without any segregation.
  • Having a railway line to such a small airport would probably not happen in real life unless there were other reasons for the line to be there. It just wouldn't generate enough traffic for profitable railway operation. Even if there is another reason, the station looks really out of place with the default "rural 50's USA" model next to a modern airport terminal and should probably be replaced. Realistically the turning loop is also redundant because train units/locomotives are more or less always bidirectional. Then there are some ridiculously sharp bends on the track. Level crossings are also a safety risk and should be avoided as much as possible.
  • The bridges are pointless. It would be easier to just reclaim some land from such shallow water and build the road and railway on that, rather than spend a ton of money building bridges that don't really even cross anything. Especially applies to the railway bridge which also has slopes no train would be able to handle.
  • Airports generate a lot of noise and because of that, nobody wants to live near them. There probably wouldn't be a settlement of that size so close to an airport when there's plenty of empty land all around to inhabit. Some warehouses or light industry would be more probable.

I hope you can take this as constructive criticism. For a real-life example of a similar-sized airport, see here for one.

Hello everyone.

This is my third airport (Partheion Altiport) in my region called Partheion. The city airport was closed because of lack of capacity so they opened a huge international airport on the countryside. The businessmen and the inhabitants of the mountain region (which is much more closer to the skyscrapper city center) were not happy with this decision so they started to build their own airport.

This airport is an altiport like in Courchevel or Lukla. The takeoff is pretty safe (runway 18) as there is much more runway than in regular altiports (500m, about 1500 feet. The slope runway helps pilots the increase or decrease speed during takeoff and landing. The landing is pretty safe, but you have to land before the slope begins. Runway 36 is the only runway that is active for landing. The great location near the city center and mountain has brought even small jets to the airport. Dash 8 and ATR -planes fly regularly to this airport from the international one. The jets fly longer destinations. In those two terminals there 9 parking spots for commercial airplanes and plenty of space general aviation.

Even if the airport looks dangerous there hasnt been any incidents reported. Even at one moment when the international airport was'nt yet opened and city airport was already closed. This airport served as the only airport. There are few parking options availiable, but there is a 500 spot underground parking under the jet terminal. Hope you will one day have a real adventorous landing on Partheion Altiport. Have a pleasant flight!

No offense, but if I were a pilot I would quit my job if they asked me to fly through your airport. That thing is a deathtrap!
