At least to my technically untrained eye, it's looking very good now. The shadows seem to have a strong blue tint, though - I wonder if anything can be done about that? If not, I don't think it's a biggie.

Blue tinted shadow is a GOOD thing, actually it is a must!

I'd say that it look good, I would personally go for less tinted version - I'd prefer neutral (proper sant stone color and let all the "tinting" be done by light - that is what is was designed to do anyway.

One suggestion would be to set MR Physical Sky as any environment - it may help with those too dark waters in some places. Bump on water will catch some reflection of the sky making the whole thing lok more realistic. You would have to work around the edges though to keep it tillable. Otherwise it should't be a big problem if your noise size in bump will be small enough. Alternatively you may try some regular (say blurred diamond shaped pattern as a bump map)

The texture looks better warmer but I agree with SImfox that it went a little too far and it should be more neutral. Simplest way to do that is just to desaturate by +/- 20%. The coping is still lavender, though.

Here are some more shots, I kind of like the lavender, and I am tired of rendering, so I'm just gonna go with it as is.

These are some good shots. I used to use canals and water in my cities years ago but haven't for some time. Maybe it was the amount of time it took to get everything just right. Definitely have piqued my interest again with these.

Great work. Looking forward to use such canals in my city too. Even if you're not releasing them - massive kudos for creating such a stunning piece of work!

If your problem is high bridges, use the bridge height mod.

    Looks good so far!

I do have one concern.  Will the wall pieces along the canal continue under elevated large bridges overhead (such as the Golden Gate or Brooklyn bridges), or will there have to be an emplty spot/tile under the bridge?

    Keep up the great work!4.gif

Such a shame this was never uploaded! If it was, if anyone knows where... these are the most beautiful canal/river walls I've seen so far!

No, of course it was not.

@ robkaper: Please note that bumping up old threads without substantial new information/material is against the forum rules as it pushes active threads further down and clutters up the forum. You read and agreed to the rules when you joined, so please adhere to them.

I don't know how experienced you are with Internet forums in general, but let me assure you that such "bumps" will be frowned upon in the overwhelming majority of online communities, so Simtropolis is not the only place where avoiding unnecessary bumps is a good idea.

I'm locking this thread to prevent further bumps - should you come back, JonM, or should anybody else feel they have a good reason to add something to this thread, please don't hesitate to PM me or another moderator for this forum section, and we'll gladly re-open the thread for you.
