Workers hands in Blackwater are stained by many different substances. Those who can see their hands stained are considered lucky people who still haven't been fired of their jobs.

    83904102.jpg

On this oil treatment plant, workers hands have a brown-ish colour, just like their lungs seen on a radiography. Gloves? What gloves?

    97459942.jpg

After the rush hour, teachers try to do their job on Blackwater Middle School. When they see their hands covered in white because the chalk dust, they thank godness because they've been able to write something on the blackboard, and they haven't spent an entire hour saying "shut up", "go to the principal's office" and dodging paper balls.

    82347400.jpg

On the coal docks that supply the power plant, workers have their hands painted black. Although they try not to touch the coal with their own hands, dust can be found everywhere until the wind carries this dust to the water. More black for Blackwater.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After an uber-busy week, I've finally been able to pull a decent update. I've plenty of things to do and I hope I can do all of them before the first exams season...

    bannerdf.jpg

It is unusual for Blackwaterians to go to other cities to spend their free time, or the time they're unemployed. The lack of money and good transport, usually forces the citizens, young and old, to hang out on their favourite places.

    39295205.jpg
During Summer and warm days, some retired men take their chairs under the rail station, where there's shadow all day long. Air conditioning is too expensive for them and ventilators, simply, aren't enough. They usually leave their wallets at home to avoid getting robbed.

    44154273.jpg
On the evenings, some dozens of youngsters hang out at the central market's parking lot. They drink cheap alcoholic drinks, smoke joints, play the music too lound on their rusty (and stolen) cars and try to spend the most time out of their homes.

    30539606.jpg
Remember that park from some updates ago? Only corageous moms take their kids to play on it during the day. At night, junkies take over this playground and later, when they've had their dose, homeless people from all over Smokestack district come here trying to find somewhere to get some sleep.

Another great update. And I agree with Benedict: That commie block is great. It literally cries for help. 2.gif

Benedict: Thanks for commenting and keep visiting this CJ, my friend! I had been following the development of this specific building on delija21's BAT thread and the day I saw it on the STEX I installed it and found a place for it in Blackwater.

heitomat: Thank you for your comment, glad to see you around again!

nerdthisgame: Thanks for commenting and for asking! I haven't counted the hours I've needed to build the city, but the planning phase was clearly the longest. Making the canal, laying the power lines and planning the RHW took an entire afternoon-evening if I remember well... Growing the buildings can be a tedious task, it requires to be alert and watching everything it grows to avoid "unnecessary" R$$ or R$$$ structures. I had to use a demand mod to make some of the tenements grow, the other ones are plopped. As for crime, you won't believe it, but it isn't as high as I wanted and my Mayor Rating is through the roof, which corroborates the theory that says sims are kinda stupid...

Oh, and it's raining again... Loud on your car like, bullets on tin. Oh, and its raining again... Open the door and pulling me in. [Moby - Raining Again]

    86878044.jpg

Blackwater is hit by a fierce storm today. It has been raining all day long and wind is beginning to cause a lot of problems. The first trees have fallen to the roads and the first car accidents are taking place.

    50960361.jpg

The first blackouts occured yesterday and they're still not solved. Seems the electric company doesn't want to know about them. Finally, dwellers of the affected buildings have gone down to the street to attract some attention; protesting for their situation. Ironically, this happens in the crossing of Faraday Avenue and Ohm Street.

    69219670.jpg

The transport authority has stopped its services and no Metro trains run now, all the region is paralyzed. On TV, residents are called to stay at home but in Blackwater they have ignored the instructions because a rusty power line tower could fall over their heads.

I just love the entire concept of your CJ. Why should everything be green and sunny? You prove that "bad" can also be good. Very good! 2.gif

Well anyway I already commented at the new section (hopefully) but let me say that it just looks beautiful as always. Beautiful in a pretty dirty and slimy way, that is. 2.gif

Benedict: Thanks for your comment, my friend! That was my intention!

heitomat: Thank you for commenting! Well, I don't have anything against the green suburbia and manicured cities, I really like them; but I'm horrible at making them... That's why I chose this "alternative" path.

StanislavSoltys: Thank you for commenting! I sometimes forget to view a given CJ on the CJ forum; I guess it has happened to all of us...

gio10469: Thanks for commenting! It's good to know that I have lurkers too...

Mayorm: Thank you for your comment! You must have some serious storms in your area!

k50dude: Nice to see you on the CJ forum too! Saying I live in Spain would lead to a political debate that could be hold on the Current Events forum, though...2.gif

kakado_to_save: Thank you for your comment and for your compliment! I have to say that this CJ is still very far away of being "the best" around here.

As in all ghettos, Blackwater has lots of graffiti drawn here and there. Some are only tags and weird drawings, others are art over concrete. Let's take a look to some of them.

    92945277.jpg

Besides the rail tracks and in front of the sewage plant, there's one of the best graffiti in Blackwater. It was made lots of years ago and nobody knows who draw it; but there it is; watching trains go by.

    42066890.jpg

A new author has emerged in Blackwater and nobody seems to know him or her. Its firsts tags can be seen in the Blackwater Public Housing Projects.

    11890425.jpg

But sometimes, the author gets caught whether by the cops (not an usual situation in Blackwater) or by the building owner; like happened on the top of the picture. In this cases, he or she suddenly stops writing on the walls and, in some cases, dissapears for ever.

    ---------------------------------------------------------

And an extra pic, as you can see, I've recicled a previous one...

    Hello my friend!

Haven't look in here for some time - what a mistake!

Even though I don't like JeroniJ's trees in his street side mod too much I do like how you use them - these trees in the "Raining AgaiN" update's last pic betwen these houses and under the HV lines look marvellous - a great shot both as a phtograph and as a ingame layout!

Good work with the pedestrian zones under the elevated rails - they look so much better that way!

    Take care my friend!

And don't forget to make backups!

wwetom1: Thanks for your comment, glad to see you back to this CJ and yours!

Nardo69: Thank you for your comment and congratulations on your OSITM! Yeah, sometimes the Jeronij's bridges make some weird things, but in general, I love how they look; here and on my regular cities.

Benedict: Thank you for commenting, my friend! I hadn't thought in a logo for this CJ, maybe I should work on a decent one... The banner is fine, but it needs a bit more... And I agree with you, the power lines pylons are one of the things that add the most character to Blackwater...

lucky7: Thanks for commenting, my friend! One of my goals is taking the viewer to the grime...

After a not very good exam, I need to get relaxed playing SC4. This is the result...

The title of this CJ is Tenements & Rust and this is what we're going to see today. Tenements and Rust.

    95229333.jpg

From time to time, a new block pops up here and there in Blackwater, making the city denser, attracting more residents and therefore, massifying the hospitals and schools.

    98650628.jpg

This building is one of the newest in Blackwater, but seems to be as old as all the others. It hosts a supermarket on its lower stage, which is one of the places where teenagers make their first minor thefts.

    72651762.jpg

And finally, a panorama. I've rebuilt the bridge, now with a 75% more of rust! Click for full resolution.

How depressing. I certainly wouldn't want to live there...and I thought my city was bad....

It all looks great though (I'm not sure if I should say it like that since it's supposed to look bad) 44.gif
