Christmas Patch Crashed My Computer OS!

The day before Christmas, I installed the Christmas patch.  Then started the game (single player).

The game started up, and ran for about 10 seconds, and then crashed.  Since then, my computer will only start in Windows Safe mode.  When trying to start in regular mode, it fails and spits out a bunch of code saying something to the effect of catastrphic device failure, and then freezes.

Needless to say, I'm not very happy with this game or company right now.

While I do not own it and am not a fan of it I highly doubt a CXL update would affect any drivers, unless they are using something like safedisc and updated it. For information sake what exactly is the message and does it name a driver?

I'm using Vista 64 bit. It doesn't name the actual driver (I wish it did). Due to Christmas and family, I haven't had time to mess with it in depth yet.

I'm thinking about uninstalling CXL in Safe Mode. But I would like to back my cities up first. Anyone here know what files those are? Of course, since Windows won't even start now, I don't have much faith that uninstalling the game will fix things. I may just have to do a clean install.

I'm not a big CXL fan, but I highly doubt the game did this. Boot into Safe Mode and do a system restore back to the last day it was working.

Sorry, but when it comes to computers, I don't believe in coincidences.  Everything was fine, and has been fine until I installed that patch, and then started the game.  The patch is what did it.

Other than that, your suggestion for a restore back to the last day it was working, is a sound one.
