Yes.  I got to try out my new chef level stainless steel mandoline on that tomato.  It sliced it perfectly.  Sometimes doing things manually beats the best food processor you've ever seen.  This is quite a gadget.  It dices as well as slices.  However, one must be very careful with this kitchen toy.  It has more sharp edges than Carter has pills.  I've never seen such a collection of blades in such a small space before.

Thanks Benedict.  We generally serve that pie with a crust of mashed potato, nicely browned in the salamander.  The carrots are on the side.  Would you like more mashed potato?  How about a Guinness to go with that?  More butter for your mash and carrots?

Warm, plain

Warm, with sauce (you pick)

Warm, with ice cream (a la mode)

Cool, plain

Cool, with ice cream or whipped cream

Cool, with a triangle of cheddar

Here in southern James Bay that is called poutine.  Served.  The cheese curds are very fresh, made this morning.  Should squeak against your teeth when you bite into them.
