"Missing Plugin Pack" message

Last night when I wanted to load a city I've been working on, I got a message that the city calls for a plugin pack that's not installed.

This is the first time I've seen this message. The only thing I can think of is that I updated some plugins earlier in the evening, but I didn't remove anything.

The mesage said I'm missing "Plugin Pack 211660821". How do I identify what that is?

"Whether it be the sweeping eagle in his flight, or the open apple-blossom, the toiling work-horse, the blithe swan, the branching oak, the winding stream at its base, the drifting clouds, over all the coursing sun, form ever follows function, and this is the law."

—Louis H. Sullivan, "The tall office building artistically considered." Lippincott's Magazine, March 1896.

From the number you cannot identify it. If you look around the city you will probably find a lot that looks all wrong.. all flat with textures only or maybe only some props.. that likely is it. If you can query it you can identify it.. otherwise you'll simply have to review the changes you have made and go through them.

If you convert that number to Hex, then you can search for the missing file.  But if you deleted the file without a backup, then the seach won't help.

The thing is, I didn't delete any previous plugins. How will converting the number to hex help me find the plugin? As far as I can tell the plugins have common names, they're not ennumerated.

What kind of plugins did you update? You might check those files. Sometimes in updating files, new items are added/changed that could need a different/additional dependency file. Also, did you happen to save the originals before updating? If so, you could try replacing the new ones until the message stops appearing.

Another thought... If you have any growable plugins, the lot may have recently grown in your city, and the dependency file is now needed whereas before it wasn't. if you only have a few 'growables', you could check those.

Depending on how the creator named the files, this number (in hex) could be part of the file name. As Tungston mentioned, if you don't have the file any more (or never did) it wouldn't be of much help.

I updated SFBT Essentials to March '09.

It's really weird because I've been playing this city for over a month, and never saw this message until now. I've been playing the game for years, and I've never encountered this message. That's why I think it may have been caused by the update, or maybe another plugin I may have installed at same time. I have to check the ReadMe's to see if I missed anything.

I don't know how to convert it to hex. I guess I'll look it up.

That would be where to start. The message only pops up for a lot currently in the city. So anything that has recently grown or been plopped would be the place to start.

If you use the Calculator in Scientific mode, you can enter the decimal number from the message, and then select Hex to convert it.

283298989 converts to 0x10E2CCAD in hexadecimal (you can use the Programmer tab in Windows calculator to convert). Cross reference with catty-cb's Plugin Pack ID Indexes, and you get: SG_3x2_GooberGenUrgentCare_10e2ccad.SC4Lot
