Starting over

I have searched the forum but cannot find anything. Also I have contacted MC support twice on a different subject and had absolutely no response.

My question is how do I delete a failing city in order to start again on the same site?

Thank you for your time

I don't think you can.  I think there is a delay until your name will be available again as well.  I deleted an earlier city and started a new one on a different plot with a different name because I was unable to get the same plot or same name.  Not that big a deal for me since eventually I will have multiple cities anyway - but I do think that they should add an option to start over on the same plot with the same name.

I haven't tried it, but I'm assuming it would take about an hour when the current update system takes place. Once it registers there's no longer a city there, it might go up then.

Again, no guarantee of accuracy, just a theory that needs testing.

Forgive me for seeming thick but does this mean that I have bought a game that gives me 25 attempts at building a successful city and after that it's 'Thank you and goodnight' ?

Only if you build 25 cities simultaneously. Otherwise, you delete them, and though it might take a while, you're free to build again.

By the way, I know it's obvious, but just in case...to delete your city, simply choose it in the planet offer and click the Trash Can icon.

I have just answered my own question.

When you log on and select a site on which there is already a city, you get that little information pop-up to confirm. Well on that pop-up is a bin (trash can to some) click on that and the city is gone. The site is virgin (if I can use that word) once more.

25 is single player, I believe. But, yes, that is a little cheap. In SC4, it was unlimited. After a few years, are we going to delelte them and start all over. I hope not......

I deleted a city before and it took about 24 hours for name to become available.

If you rebuild your new city in the same world area as the old one was it will essentually be the same area. You have to watch out that the world area your city was in still has available. Some places are a 0%, if you delete your city and wait 24 hrs for the name again you might not get back into the area.

Yes, as I understand it, in solo mode you can never have more than 25 operating cities. Unless you cough up more money.

I think it might be 30 if you have the limited edition. But I'm not sure how easy it will be to have a successful city that has no resources except for heaps of oil .........

Well until they give us the ability to trade between your own cities in solo mode, the mode itself is almost pointless to play in.
