Hello my name is Sam, been on the cities xl forums for quite a bit. Anyway good friends with Asheroo. This is my first time playing cities xl, im enjoying the experience and the game and of course everyone knows this game could be a lot with content and original  stuff in the game like transports etc. My city is called Gold Coast just like the one from Australia. Anyway it reminds me of Miami to be fair, but tell me what you think and any questions just ask!

wow, all green.. how do you keep the traffic congestion down? Any tips for the roads, or are you just plopping at random? It looks like you use a lot of longer roads to minimize the amount of intersections?

well mate, i just use big roads and use roads in them, I don't like the small roads they annoy me, so like most there in CBD are three lands and all the overs are avenues because I love them, so mainly I have avenue and then a couple of roads then another avenue and the middle one is a highway right in the middle of it, hope that helps

it looks alright but I have to tell you, the reason your traffic is so thin is because you've got so many streets it's not realistic at all. You would never see a block of houses where there was a street in front AND in back. There's no point in it. If you lived in such a city you'd go crazy trying to get someplace because of all the streets, it's very nonsensical and chaotic. If you want no traffic congestion, then you're right on target but if you want realism maybe you should go in there and take out every other street. In reality people's back yards abut one another. You don't look out your front door into someone elses back yard, really. You'd live in constant fear of getting hit by a car. lol.

Hope that comes across as constructive critique because that's what it's meant as!

A very good start but I'd agree that it doesn't look realistic with all those roads on the front and back of a properties. Also, I think you're using a collector road for many of the streets as opposed to a residential road which is smaller and cheaper. If your city was real you'd have a very expensive road upkeep bill each year. Google your city to see how it is designed to get an idea.

thanks for the criticism, I understand what you mean, but I just don't like the look of the small roads on this game that's why I don't use them, but you made valid points

I have to say you guys are right and i've started using small roads and it saves so much more money and looks actually nicer! here's a pic of me starting to use them and thanks guys for the info

that does look much better. I was using the free design road tool last night and I realized that it actually lays them the way we were saying is not realistic, roads in front and back, if you allow it to put in a central section of houses inside the outer ring. So it's not just you!!! lol.

your second pic of your CBD acutely reminds me a lot of how the gold cost looks, the game is very much suited to making a city like the gold cost, good job.

Cool great work Sam, can't wait to get my valid CD Key. One question are you in PO or in solo play?

I may go all out and do PO, but I want to get the "system" down first. I did play the beta too however, not sure if its change as far as the mechanics go - ie zoning, taxes, expenses, and resources?

Just got quite a few close up of the roads for you guys and built a tunnel to the CBD XD
