Really great job Aaron! It really reminds me of some co-ops on the Upper West Side (along West End Avenue specifically) I pass by when I take my walks through Riverside Park. Can't wait to see this one on the STEX

Superb! I only think the red/brown texture on the main roof needs some desaturation. I'd expect it to be washed out by rain and bleached by the sun. Even if we pretend it's new, I think the colour is a tad too aggressive.

P. S.: Sorry for "threadjacking", but... now that I see your reply, Sam - will there be some update to your thread, too? It's been a while since I've last seen you around, and as it happens I just complained about a bump that was made to your thread. Now that it's up anyway, it might as well get some new content, eh? ;)

    Worthington Apartments

Okay guys I was playing around with Worthington Apartment version one model and I wanted to see how the variation s will look like, well this is what I have. I think it's a great idea to make the cornice different for each model and I will make two version of the model flip in the opposite direction to help get right corner of the block. :D

What I need to do on the Worthington Apartments to consider them complete is make some stairs to lead to a basement in the back of the building, maybe some chairs and night lights, and the model can be done. :D

Just one thing, are you sure that that main entrance door's green thing (I don't know what is it called in english) is only on the road's side walk and not inside the road? Because it looks a bit long if you are going to fit your BAT in a 2x3 lot.

    Looking good!

You've been using the same (exactly the same) colours for a wide number of BATs - you might instead try experimenting with colours a bit, trying to cover some colours you didn't really cover so far - e.g light brown.

Here's some ideas, i can't grant they would fit in game exactly as they are- those are quick drafts of some other colours that might be used, but they're nothing more than hurriedly-done drafts.

    1) One kind of mid-brown, not red-brown and not dark brown:

    worthingtonapartmentsmidbrown_zps5880ef48.jpg

    2) Light orange - not flashy orange, a lighter and less saturated version of it:

    worthingtonapartmentsorange_zpsb15e3133.jpg

    3) Light brown

    worthingtonapartmentslightbrown001_zps0c40f0d5.jpg

I admit i could have done a better job with this one, but again, those were quick drafts.

    4) Pale yellow or cream yellow - the least successful of my drafts, methinks.

    worthingtonapartmentspaleyellow_zpscb6398ca.jpg

It didn't really turn out as i wanted it to, but anyway...you know the colour of cream-flavoured ice cream? Yeah, should be that colour, just slightly less intense.

Also, i thought about a kind of red-brown that's like the "brown" you use, just with a little shift in hue towards red, and more darker, and then ivory white, that should be between "cream" and "white", and about a type of brown that's even lighter than the brown i called "light brown"...

IL.- They Work well with the roads, the canopies never suppost to extend over 1.6 meters off the lot because of roads. I have tested my building on NAM's widest roads, like the road that have 4 lane on a single tile and the three lane one way roads, test my other buildings, there using the same theory. Check 41 Park Avenue, Franklin Apartments, Eyrene Apartments, and Johnson Apartments. :D

    Zulu2065- Thank you!!! :D

Francis90b- Thank you, I have been thinking the same thing. This is a zip file of all my bricks for my buildings. From the Johnson to Worthington, some building do use the same textures, I try to change it up, but we can only go so far with bricks unless we go with bule and green bricks. :P

I'm sure your going to update your post. You said here's my take, but no pictures. :D

    Aaron's Brick Collection

This link will not be up here forever so those new batter better enjoy, please play with the hue, brightness, ect so we will not have the same bricks on a bunch of building. :P

Francis enjoy, how many brick texture can you make with these textures by editing my bricks? :D

I like the character of your creations Aaron, the buildings you make are essential in recreating a good american city in SC4 and you made them look very nice :)

"Is it not cruel to let our city die by degrees, stripped of all her proud monuments, until there will be nothing left of all her history and beauty to inspire our children? If they are not inspired by the past of our city, where will they find the strength to fight for her future? Americans care about their past, but for short term gain they ignore it and tear down everything that matters. Maybe… this is the time to take a stand, to reverse the tide, so that we won't all end up in a uniform world of steel and glass boxes." - Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

Jack_wilds- Thank you, it is fun to watch a building grow from a box like shape to something that looks realistic. :)

    Worthington Apartments

Here's the night light to the apartments, all I have to do is prepare the other three versions to this building and this building can be complete. :D

So I see you're doing color variations with this one, like most of your recent stuff. Are you going with all of these that you came up with and/or with Francis90b's suggestions? I really love them all, so this must be a hard choice for you guys. ;)

But on the last one that you, Aaron, came up with, the one that's the pinkish white, I think the Penthouse and the back walls have too much of a brownish and orange contrast compared with that white pink. It just looks like two separate buildings collided if you know what I mean. :P

Thank you, I will be doing a color variation with anything I make, but if the building is huge then that may not happen the renders will already be to long on one model and doing it four time will be to much, I may could do it two times, but it depends on the model and the mood I will be feeling at the time of making the model.

But on the last one that you, Aaron, came up with, the one that's the pinkish white, I think the Penthouse and the back walls have too much of a brownish and orange contrast compared with that white pink. It just looks like two separate buildings collided if you know what I mean. :P

Francis90b is like my right hand man he's such a great help, with out him telling me to fix the textures, or do this or that to the model it will not be one of the best of the best. Francis90b's even tweek my brick textures on the Worthington Apartments, no he does not make them for me. I made all the bricks and I have shared them to you guys, Francis90b come in to fix the saturation and hue of the bricks sense he has a better taste for the brick style of the brick buildings. :D

    Hazani Pratama- Thank you!!! :D

    Worthington Apartments

I have added the ac units in the windows, so I'm am pretty much done, all I have to do is recheck the models and if there ok, then I will be exporting them soon. :D

Fantastic renderings. I love how you always include color variations for more variety in urban areas. My cities feel so different and unique instead of having so much repetition. Thank you! :D

Jasoncw- Thank you, to me texturing them is not as hard at all, I had to think of a plan to speed up the process, all my glass is all one object, this helps save some time, I do not want to work on the same bats to long or I will lose interest very fast so speed is very important to me as well as quality. :D

Here's a link on my glass I use, it's so simple your mouth may drop. :P

    Ion_Cannon- Thank you buddy!!! :D

Sgt Pepper- Thank you, I want to put an end to repetition buildings growing in the game, it's not realistic. :)

Even if I was to make a small fast food restaurant like Burger King, I would still do a variation for them. Let's put an end to repetition on other smaller buildings. :D

    Looking awesome, really loving it.

What are you using material setting wise because it looks like as well as having a texture on the glass, you are also reflecting a ground pane..are you using standard A&D glass mat with the usual noise etc?

The sheer idea of you BATing smaller buildings like fast food restaurants is great! Having your golden BATing touch on suburban and smaller commercial areas.

Tbh, by now the idea of having him apply his skill on just about any type of building sounds tempting...

gutterclub- I do not use any noise on my glass, my glass is textured on and if also pick up the reflection from the ground plane. My glass texture settings for the Worthington Apartments is the picture below. :D

For template I select "Glass (Thin Geometry)".

    glasssettings.jpg

Sgt Pepper- Yeah, it would be cool to touch the suburban world, but if I end up doing that the SBT (suburban Bat Team) will need to be created. :D

Gn_leugim- If i end up doing all types of building then I know I will be doing to much. :D One of my main missions is to keep NYBT alive as much as possible.

T Wrecks- Yeah, if I do decide to do other types of buildings. :D

    IL.- Thank you!!! :D

    Worthington Apartments

I have added some trash cans on the back side of the apartments building, it's not as good as the one in the link below, but I think it will do. :)

I have added some pipes on the roof because Tag_One on sc4devotion was telling me that the roof junk like that was missing.
