This thread will cover all newly created SimMars buildings that are RCI, all the way from R$ stage 1, to I$$$ stage 8.
 
Ideas are welcome, but please follow the guidelines, I will be posting and compiling them later today. I am leaving the creativity up to the community, and will leave a few areas open for you to create anything you think mars might end up having, but try to keep it all bounded by reality, this wont be a mars of 2500a.d., but of 2050a.d.
 
please post just the RCI buildings you come up with in here. dont worry about the Ag buildings, I have that covered.

What would probobly help alot is if you provided a really large and diverse texture pack for everyone to use. That way at least the initial buildings have the same look and feel to it.

    food production could be a large, lucrative business on Mars, whether it be is through trade with Earth, terrafarming (in large dome-enclosed farms, of course), and factory-made food production. it will be interesting to see which types of these buildings some of the BATters come up with.

    I was thinking that with some textures, it could be a Commercial Office or High-Tech Industrial. guinea, can you link me to the thread?

    if it were a spiral that connected to the bottom and top, with a ball on top, it could be a giant tesla coil, perhaps it could be a static attractor that keeps dust down, with a pollution reducing effect. or a wireless transmitter that can beam power to remote places on the globe, provided that place is set up to deal with 250,000 volts in the 1,000 amp range, considering that is enough to quite violently level a good chunk of area, it could be a military installation, or many of them could make up a defence grid against the alien infiltrators 1.gif

    hey, don't get me wrong, you've got a LOT of work to do on those, first of all try to make the inside wider to accomodate whatever is inside, what colour you would like is up to you, I suggest green for the colour of algae, which is most likely what will be making the oxygen. OR it could be using some hind of electrical process to separate the carbon from the oxygen, in which case the support rods would need to be thinner, and a mesh in between them would be nice.

    Hey everyone! I am new to SimTropolis, and since i am willing to work on SimMars in some way, i figured here would be a good place to start. I have been on simcity.com since late July last year, so i'm not a complete newbie. I have also been reading the forums here for a while, and now i have finally decided to join. Anyway, i was hoping to be able to help on making any sort of building for SM, preferably RCI or Civic. If you want to see example of my work currently done, head on over to simcity.com and search my name in the exchange there. So i hope i find a place on this site soon!

    The following is nowhere near completion, it is just a rough draft.
    Since Mars has wind problems, it would be wise to design skyscrapers that can withstand the wind. this is a picture of a skyscraper shell that could be used to protect the building and keep it from beig destroyed by wind. i say it should be either wealthy com. offices or wealthy res.

    I finished a quick skyscraper design today. I'm not too good at skyscrapers, but i had an awesome design idea, so i just had to try it. It's a little too small at the moment, but this is basically it:

    The orange shield like thing is exactly what it looks like, it's a sand shield/front lobby kind of thing. Also, the blue parts in the middle section are supposed to be the skyscraper part of it, with windows and everything, but the black makes it very hard to see here. Now you're probably thinking, the roof looks terrible, it's too bare... etc. Well i looked into it, and made this roof prop:

    You can't see it too well, but there's a blue electricity lookin' thing coming from each of the rods, connecting in the air. It has some opacity added to it, that's why you can't see it too well.     oh, ah, um, note on oxygen and other elements, they cant be generated! you can neither destroy or generate elements. Physical impossibility.

    elements can be created, it just requires some know how. in the utilities buildings thread I have several posts on Fusion power, and the elements created by such a process. there is little nitrogen on mars, so we'll use fusion to 'create' it. as for generating oxygen, you can crack it from many sources, simple chemical reactions can break apart molecules into useable elements, like H2O into hydrogen and oxygen. few processes are efficient, but that's not a very relevant point when it's something your life hinges on.

    The tunnel buildings are a great idea.
     
    Also, I was thinking of a scraper shaped  like a hand peace sign, symbolizing the act that we want to prevent intergalactic war.
