There's a ton of Google Sketchup videos on youtube, but there's really  not too  many for BAT.  Has anyone considered

making some?

actually there was a site with such videos. ask Glenni for the address, if it is still alive.

However, in reality you don't need any special BAT videos. BAT is a just a custom renderer, in terms of modeling, mapping, texturing, lighting, there is nothing special in BATing as such... just look for GMAX/Max tutorials and you'll be fine with BAT. In fact you'll be much better off than if you would follow some pure BAT tutorials, as they are for the most part very old-fashioned.

and how would BAT videos be special? as long as we are speaking about general modeling techniques?

I think it would be neat to see some great creator's workflow.  You can always pick up a tip or 2 from seeing someone else.

I've seen a few gmax tutorials on YouTube, but they've mostly been "how to make a plane" or that sort of stuff. Nothing that is SC4-specific, alas...

GOOD TEXTURES ARE MADE, NOT FOUND.
(I get tired of saying that in BAT threads.)

"Never keep up with the Joneses. Drag them down to your level." - Quentin Crisp
"I believe in talking behind peoples' backs. That way, they hear it more than once." - Fran Lebowitz
"Ordinary morality is for ordinary people." - Aleister Crowley
"No one ever said on their deathbed, 'Gee, I wish I had spent more time alone with my computer.' " - Dani Bunten Berry

I'm starting a small series of simple video tutorials. But I'm currently swamped with big busy high school classes and building other stuff.

But by Early October you should see one 4.gif

We, stardust, are the oddest observers of self (a.k.a. the universe).

I'm just a group of atoms typing this.

    What do I know?

I've actually created basic BAT / Gmax / 3ds Max video tutorials about a year ago.

One set of videos (Gmax fundamentals) is available in the Omnibus at this link. The other video was never published at ST (although it still might) and it can be found here. The video teaches how to create a basic tower in any of the applications.

    Good luck! 1.gif

Your link seems to not work after they made the new Omnibus.  Thoose were great videos you made, so if you still have them, then could you post youtube links? I alrday knew how to model when you relased the videos, but i wish i had something like them when i started.

Great video-- thanks for posting!  For me,a  BAT *****, It would be cool to see a soup to nuts video, from the picture of a building in real life to the creation in BAT, then the lot creation, then how to import it into the game, then the actual in game

shot.  I'm sure that would help alot of people out.
