It looks like time is no longer out of joint. Well, I guess that's what we keep SpecOps 12 around for. What would we do without the ChronoGuard?

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

9224 - If we downgraded to IPBoard a lot of things would be fixed...essentially the STEX, CJ and Omnibus sections would need to be recoded but there wouldnt be PFB and slow loading threads with a lot of posts (not sure about the DST issue).

Nope. SpecOps from the Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde. The fictional British governmental force is unrelated to the game.

I've finished Ventus' and Aqua's stories in Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, and have just started Terra's.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep is a game on PSP. There are three protagonists, Terra, Ventus, and Aqua, whose stories are told separately. I have played through Ventus' and Aqua's stories. I have just started playing Terra's. Does it make sense now?

I swear you made up that word, but multicharacterline works.

And it appears I have to change my time setting manually.

Going back to the "What do we do after 10,000 posts" discussion.

I had this idea before, close this thread when we reach 10,000, and then, instead of having a target, why don't we have a deadline? Like lets say, start a new thread on the 1st of January 2011, and then see how many posts we can get into a thread over a whole year?

Astro: Yeah, I made it up on the spot. I tend to do that 3.gif

Hamish: Well, one thing for certain that's going to happen is that this thread is closing (and pinned) on post 10,000. I like the idea of a deadline, but instead of a year, we can go on a month by month basis? And maybe have a running tally as well... though seeing as its hard enough keeping 1 number in line, I'm not so sure about having 2.

I don't know what to put here anymore.

On what? Your PSP?

As for the debate on this thread... let's keep it to a simple reboot. If we want to launch an alternate idea like a deadline game, that's a separate thread and there's no reason the two can't exist simultaneously.

With the right timing of posts, it could last over a year - if it is started by someone in New Zealand and ended by someone in Alaska, for example. Having a similar goal as this one should be fun.

Also, I retract my previous statement.

2. This sounds like it might just become spam really quickly.quote>

It has not done so and I do not expect it to.

Duke: On ST. I also have to change it on my PSP when the time changes here or I go back to Queensland.

Blue: How do you mean month by month? Like start a new thread every month? Not a bad idea, although you could do that in a year thread too, just a quick tally of how many posts has occurred in that month and then move onto the next month. That could have also been done in this thread too.

Astro: It could go for slightly over a year, but Im sure if a moderator started it, for examples sake lets say me, I would open it in the early hours of the 1st of january 2011 and close it when it reached midnight on the 31st of December 2011.

Any other ideas? I think we have less than a month left to decide what to do.

Whew, just made it. What a shame it would have been for me to miss page 308

I forgot what a (albeit temporary) mess DST can create for the forums. I unfortunately wasted the extra hour by staying up until 9:00 this morning and then only getting maybe 3 hours of sleep.

As far as the next step goes, I am undecided. I guess another 10,000 thread makes the most sense to me.

Oh yeah... PFB WARNING!

Muck now has a message, although I really do prefer it when people post the message when they make the post in the first place.

Any idea like this will inevitably cause problems because people here are in some very different time zones.

And again: why are we talking about how to mess with the formula? The concept is great as it currently stands. Let's not ruin it.

I normally wouldn't do such a thing but I didn't want to miss that page. From the look of it, I was right to assume I might miss it if I made the post in its entirety at first.

Geez, guys, I can edit my own numbers if I have to. I always do when it comes to my attention. But thanks though.

So, we are thinking of a simple take two? Change the target to something larger though?

Blue: Not a bad suggestion. When would we decide when the month starts and ends? Multiple timezones means multiple start and end points. We could just go off one moderators time, or GMT?

I am thinking of "The 10,000 post thread v2", nothing more.

Probably best to start the numbers over at 1, though counting from 10,001 to 20,000 is also an option.
