Yeah some places around here were open at 6am, but I had to wait (er um, sleep) an extra hour.

Anyone else get little "I voted" stickers from their polling place? A few teachers and some students were wearing those today, and I'm not sure if it's everywhere or just a here thing.

Yes, this is kitty.

In Washington, it is a law that everyone who wants to vote that does not have any disabilities has to use absentee ballots through the mail if they vote at all. People with disabilities that prove that they cannot fill out absentee ballots are allowed to go to special places (one per county) to vote.

Yup. I was wearing mine on my shirt all day today. The folks at the office made fun of me for it. 3.gif

(stickers do sort of clash with professional attire...)

Results can change as the night goes on and more votes are counted. Although it depends on how quickly the votes are counted and the number of votes to count. You may get through yours faster than we get through ours.

There was a rather strange occurrence in our last election when one of the broadcasters called an electorate after about 20 votes had been counted.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

We've got a little bit of an interesting incident around here. The city of Bridgeport ordered way too few ballots and ran out. So, a court order was issued to keep the polls open in the affected districts a couple hours later than normal so they could make up for the time lost while they scrambled to print more ballots up.

What makes this interesting? Bridgeport is a deep blue town in an area that generally leans slightly red overall, and results start getting announced as soon as normal closing time comes. So, some people in Bridgeport got a chance to go out and vote knowing that the (Republican) candidates for governor and congressman were leading, which is a tad treif. If either of those races ends up flipping, people will cry foul.

The votes have been 3/4 counted but the Senators are tied. [WA]

The last results I saw were 49-45 to the Democrats for the Senate, and the Republicans leading in the House by a significant amount. That was a while ago on BBC World being carried by ABC (the Australian one).

I'm thoroughly ticked off at these elections. My districts new rep is this guy who's not a good speaker, seems kinda libertarian, which I normally wouldn't mind as much if it wasn't for the fact that the contry's so partisan that he's probably gonna go republican on everything. Then my former district rep is the new senator, and I can't stand him. HIm (or his "people") have basically lashed out with lies towards my mom after she e-mailed him about the healthcare bill awhile back. He was a terrible rep, I don't see him being a good senator at all. And our governor is still up in the air, with our current governor currently has a ~10,000 vote lead and Cook County (Chicagoland) is the only place still being counted, so I really hope he wins. If he doesn't, well, expect a huge angry rant from me about how the most backwards conservative in Illinois became our governor...

Y'know Un, wouldn't you want to know a bit about what your next door neighbor's/largest economy in the world is up to, even a bit? Well, I suppose this breaks the stereotype of Americans not knowing anything about the world, seeing as I probably know more about Canadian politics then you know about American. 3.gif Whoo for smashing stereotypes! Next one to smash, that little kids are little...3.gif

So, Blue Lightning, how do I know you?  I get the feeling you ran a CJ I liked.  Oh, and anyone out there who likes slow-paced browser strategy games should check this site out:  http://us.desert-operations.com/?recruiter=17acb&world=d29ybGQx

I need some people to join the game through that link.  And when I say it's slow, I mean it.  I'm just reaching fighting condition after a week and a half of playing.
