3653. Tuesdays are my busiest days. Classes start at 8, one hour break at 9, possible break at 11, then straight through until 5.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

Yeah, we had us a hell of a nor'easter.  It started raining Friday afternoon. It kept raining, and raining, saturating the ground. Saturday evening, the storm turned really nasty, with wind gusts nearly hurricane-force (~65-70 mph). Trees got knocked down all over the place, reportedly 70% of the City of Stamford was in the dark that night. We just got our power back about 45 minutes ago (total length of outage: ~2 days, 10 hours). Other people still don't have power, the electric company doesn't expect to have everyone back online until tomorrow afternoon. The schools were closed yesterday, and are closed again today.

It was interesting driving around Sunday. Some roads were still blocked by fallen trees, a few others were closed due to flooding. Half the traffic lights were out. One light down in Mount Vernon even had one of the signal heads missing. A couple signs on the highway had gotten completely knocked over, several more were noticably off-kilter. Kinko's got their sign demolished, as well. Meanwhile, every diner and coffee shop that was open had lines out the door.

I have pictures of some of this stuff, I'll upload them later...

This was discussed previously. If I'm not mistaking, it had to do with people who only look, and don't make a post, are counted in the view count. You're forgiven for not remembering though.

That's why typically there are more views than replies. This thread has more replies than views, which has happened before but is indeed a strange occurance. How this happens? You can only count as one "view" of a thread each time you are online. If you post more than once in a single time logged on, all the posts count but it still only counts as one view of the thread.

It occurs with this thread, of course, because people camp it and post several times without navigating away from the ST forum in between.

Anyways, I promised pictures of destruction. First of all, the local newspaper's website has a huge gallery here.

My pictures now...

3661. Welcome to page 123!

And yes, Duke, that damage does look severe, though I've seen pictures with similar damage taken in the Netherlands, and to my knowledge the Dutch storms aren't very powerful.
