I have, on occasion. I tend not to find it particularly enjoyable. With the limited length of the comments, inabilty to edit them, and "live" pace forcing you to rush to keep up with the conversation rather than take your time with a well thought-out, well formatted reply... the quality of the discussion is lackluster. Too much "lol wat r u duing" and whatnot. Chat rooms are unpleasant and uninviting that way.

Besides, it doesn't feel like I'm accomplishing much anything by partaking in it. Once you log out of the chat room, whether you hung out there for five minutes or five hours... you have absolutely nothing to show for it. So it seems like an utter waste of my time to be in there.

Depends on the time of day. Around 7pm to 11pm AEST it goes at a reasonable pace. Of course, this is 4am to 8am EST, so I'm pretty much chatting with people in South-East Asia and the Pacific, and insomniacs (looking at you, Larks2242). At other times brevity is your friend.

I've found ST chat to be astoundingly intelligent compared to what I've heard of other chatrooms. Yes, there will be the occasional new person who talks like that, but they either leave quickly or start typing normally. Most of the really annoying people are kicked out.
