If atall possoble I would like to suggest someon, anyone add some neat simulation effects to all the buildings so we can see the actual construction and deteriation of buildings. I think it's drastically needed. No more static buildings pa lease!--)))

    It depends, if Cities XL has the effect on me where Sim City ends up stuck on the shelf then I will probably stop SC4 CC all together. Then again will Cities XL offer me the flexability SC4 does?

    i hope you can recreate your best SC4 Stuff! i downloaded most of it on my Family's Imac! Sadly though The Imac Has now lost the data

    While I expect that I will have to catch up on the actual techniques used for modeling in "Sim city" type game I am very well versed in 3d studio max and maya, as the information comes out I will be diving Feet first and hope to contribute to the custom content for Cities XL, im new to the site but have been an avid fan of city sims for years, maybe an idea if it's not already out there is forming some custom content teams, my self I have spent much of my creation time in HL mods, contructing landscape and building, moding for special groups like swg.

    But anyway this wasnt about giving my resume as much as anticipation to play the game and hopefully help to provide some of the custom content were posible, I have already purchased the pre order and look forward to game play!

    To bad added content wont be allowed...

    We really wish to build a strong collaboration with community members who are into custom content creation and offer them in the future the opportunity to see their work make its way officially into the game. At the moment we can't commit to make this a "policy" and open the gate because we wouldn't be able to handle the number of submission.

    Cities XL is a really complex application with tons of internal features ready to host the future expansions (GEMs) and other features we want to add later on. For that reason custom content will have to be approved integrated within the game by our team so that it fits well in the global experience. The first step for us will be to educate and help a small amount of volunteers to create their first buildings and to get there we'll start by sharing some documents about the technical specifications and process with creative communities such as Simtropolis. Then we will see how it goes and decide the best way forward. quote>

    I'll need to purchase a PC (oh how I hate MS) and find the time to play the game and create building models, but assuming all that happens, I'm totally in. 2.gif

    So, it's more subtile than "black boxes" 2.gif There are many ways to deal with that, especially with something "online"

    And about "each mod approved", this should apply only to online mods... Solo mods won't have to... It's still unclear on how they will handle the solo/online mods differenciation, but just switch your brain of and think a bit... How do you think they could restrict "Solo mods" to approved content only ? let me remind you that the game only needs online ACTIVATION, after you did, you can play offline... so, if you play offline, how do you think your game could ever contact MC servers to ask them if this mod was approved ? 4.gif

    I even think that custom content is the thing that will save the game from a commercial failure in the mid-term... and (at least for now), I can ensure you that there is no "approbation" mecanism running with the custom content interpreters, so if there is one added later, it will probably only affect online play (which would be normal to use an "approbal" policy since it's quite easy to change many things... The "online cheating-custom content" issue is probably the main reason of why they didn't published any official documents for now, but it's only a matter of time now... Some unofficial ways already exist to access customizable datas, so they can't keep the door closed eternally... 2.gif

    which begs the question, why does every mod NEED To be approved.

    the problem is Cxl might have perfected it self but simcity 4 remains in a way superior, because Maxis gave us the tools and let loose creativity.

    Monte cristo gave us a building customization editor, which is great but if they cold upgrade it to the standard of BAT cities xl will probably start to have an uprising of custom content creators

    Every mod does not need the be approved. Look at all the mods now, most of them aren't even approved of. Anyone can make any mod for CXL, and have the choice whether they won't to give it to MC or not, it's not a forced thing. Just as long as the mod is not a cheat for the PO, everything is alright.
