OK, I'll have a go at this: How about BORING! Lack of Stats, Lack of Simulation, Lack of fixes, Lack of Core Game Play and in General a very sloppy put together piece of software that actually took 2 years to make! I have more, but I'll quit for now!

There seems to be memory leak problem in the game.

I hate to disappoint you but that problem has been around for testers since day one and what your doing is the only thing you can do until some decade it's fixed. -

But directly from MC in the beta: Mathew wrote:Lifetime Edition is not a fiction, but it is a specific offer only available on Amazon.de (Germany). It includes the same content as the Limited Edition but with a lifetime subscription to Planet Offer. So, to answer the question: there are currently no plans to have a similar offer elsewhere. Mathew Moderator Posts: 164

BUT, here's the dig, it's only available in Germany through amazon.de. I asked why but never got an answer from MC why only Germany? Sounds a little country discriminating going on here! But, that's their call. I wouldn't doubt after world wide release and a low subscriber base that they change their mind! Time will tell! I won't buy either way but will wait for the end of Beta before I say why.

Originally posted by: swat-medic The beta program has ended, yes.quote> Just where do you get your information from? I take it from the amount of posts you have here you are a major player here at simtropolis and I think a moderator. I have been testing this beta from day one and as you know by now it is NOT over with. I would just like to know where you got that info from and why you did not even post a retraction or apology for posting that false info. For someone that is a major player here IM amazed you posted that and then no retraction. I been lurking here for some time and recently sub'd so I could post. I not trying to offend you or the like, IM just shocked you had posted that info and then no mention from you that your info was incorrect and then no retraction. There's a few posters here that really post misleading info and I just wonder where they get their info from. Anyways have a Great Day and here's hoping for more Accurate info.

(pardon the caps) The demo doesn't even start until the Sept. 8th for the U.S. anyway, there is absolutely nothing to fix at this point for the demo. Hell, they didn't bother putting mass-transit in the game, although the the beta has had like 1000 updates!quote> Man you sure have a habit of exagerating! 1000 updates for the beta? What Planet are you on? I could count the number of updates in beta on one hand dude! Are you sure you in the beta--)))) I been there since day one and beleive me there are a ton of things that need fixing! This is not attacking you, just your statements that are way out there in left field and will lead people to think wow! 1000 updates plus, when in reality it's only been a handful! That's just one issue of many testers are upset about! I will comment a lot more when NDA is over with. For now it would be nice if your information was say a little bit accurate!--))

Originally posted by: Metropolis3479 Well, if you're saying that cause you played the beta, and gave up, then you don't know what the game is like now. It has improved a great deal, and will continue to improve after release. Yes, pre-order is not the best idea, but it's not horrilble. Keeping your residents happy is just like a REAL city, so that part is ok.quote> Improved? LOL! You Gotta be kidding me! I can't wait for this NDA to be over with!

Originally posted by: chptrk So how would "trading" and stuff even work in the online version? Would you have to place road connecting cities? If so, isn't there then a chance that when someone does that, the could destroy a part of someone elses city? And what about the user interface, are any pictures of that going to be shown soon? I don't want to play a game that I can't even figure out how to play. And, there is no chance of me buying the game to test it out, I would want a free demo first. Last I checked, you can't rent a PC game and after you buy it you can't return it if you don't like it. And personally, I would never pay for a demo, aren't supposed to be free? And then hits the "Pay to play" part. Not all features available in single player? Count me out. I paid for the game once, I'm not doing it again. (My little moto) Sorry, but this game is just not for me. Well, I felt like I needed to express my opinion. I really don't mean for this to sound rude, but I'll just sit here at wait for this to blow over. And for those who say "Cities XL is gonna be the next big thing," well, isn't that exactly what they said for Spore? And there isn't much replay value in that. Sorry MC, but I'm sticking with my SimCity 4! quote> Excellent Choice! Someday I may explain my comment--)))

If atall possoble I would like to suggest someon, anyone add some neat simulation effects to all the buildings so we can see the actual construction and deteriation of buildings. I think it's drastically needed. No more static buildings pa lease!--)))

I really liked the challenges in Socities! They are a real challenge. It took me time to learn what affects what in the game and many times I had to start a challenge over but it was worth it. I wish there were more challenges to add. To me they were by far the best part of Socities. Graphics were great also along with the animations. Many have underated this game and never gave it a shot. It took me many hours to get the hang of it and when I see people say they tried it out for 20 minutes or an hour and then uninstalled cause it sucked, they obviously wanted instant gratification. To me it was a game worth learning and I still play it along with SC4. I would reccomend this game. It's sad that EA made no further effort beyond the Destinations addition. EA apparently wants instant mega bucks or they just abandon the game.

Originally posted by: zurrabear I played SCS pretty extensively before very recently coming back to SC4 after a four year hiatus (I'd given up on it because of the transit issues). It's true that SCS is a really easy game, *if* you play it on the easy difficulty settings. I never played on the harder settings, so for all I know it could become quite a challenge. But the point of SCS is completely different from SC4, and most people here don't seem to get the distinction. SCS is for the most part a creative challenge: build the best looking/most interesting city you can, because you have some absolutely beautiful graphics and graphic effects to work with that quite frankly blow away anything in SC4. The raw landscape one starts with can be truly breathtaking, especially the deserts; the camera options allow for views that don't exist in SC4; and the day/night cycle is beautiful to watch, and even changes character depending on which 'society' you've opted for. So seriously, unless you've really given it a try and not just dabbled for a few hours, don't disrespect SCS. For the player who loves the aesthetic aspect of city building, it's a damn good game.quote> Yeah I agree! I Loved the challenges and have one to complete yet. There were tough yet something to shoot for and there is plenty of strategy if one takes the time to learn the game! My only dissapointment is EA lack of support. It is a differant game play then SC4 which I like also. I bet many have not tried to learn the game and complete the challenges cause they are not easy. I spent some time learning the game and once I understood what effects what I really enjoyed it. Overall SC4 is the best for me so far with this game #2! Flame away, I don't care as IM not afraid to say I like Socities!--))

Just discovered "City Life" what can you tell me about it?

Originally posted by: metallicarox2009 I believe i just bought the regular version, and i didn't really know what forum category to put this in frankly, well i guess i'll see what i think of it, and if it does suck, i'm only out $10, and i'll just wait for Cities XL to come out, i was just gonna see if CL would run on my PC which runs Sim City 4 alright until you start doing bigger cities and then it just gets super sluggish, granted its a 4 yr old machine running a Athlon XP 2900+ with 1 GB of RAM and a Nvidia GeForce 6600GT Card. Of course I am getting a Macbook Pro very soon and am planning on using it for gaming after installing XP on a partition through Boot Camp, and hopefully that will run Sim City 4 flawlessly.quote> I run SC4 Deluxe form bootcamp using xp sp2 and I havge no problems on an original intel iMac Core Duo with 2 Gigs of RAM. Hope that helps! -
Originally posted by: Houston_Fan Has anyone here been able to get the Cities XL beta working on Crossover or Wine on a Mac? I'm just curious.quote> If you want to run this game, like many others, then your best to run it natively in boot camp on any Intel Mac. It works fine under boot camp.
