That's a cool city Smirkazor. I like the transportation so far. I love the skyscrapers. I like the way you layed out the roads by yourself, because I usually let the game lay mine's out for me. I will have to try that. Keep updating the city. You could also add some of the new bat props to make this city really unique. Will return to see your progress on the city. Great Job.1.gif

Very nice. but does it work in game or are their traffic problems where they all come together?

looks nice so far! on the pier part you should use PEG's seawalls if you got those, and instead of those level crossing u should use marrasts underpasses cos i think they'd look much better there

anyway keep us updated on the new developments there 44.gif

What are marrasys underpasses ? Can you tell me or post a screenshot...

Very nice city building, but I am not a big fan of big cities, still this is a nice way to build cities, avoiding overcharging the city view and having lots of green areas44.gif

Time for another update, continuing in showing you the transportation layout of my latest city Rickennington, here are a few small projects that i have done it this city involving tunnels.

This series of pics shows a tunnel i built going underneath a ground level highway, you can see in this first pic how far down i have dug on each side to build it.

    /idealbb/files/Rick15.jpg

The second pic shows that the tunnel will work.

    /idealbb/files/Rick

    lastly the completed avenue tunnel.

    /idealbb/files/Rickhttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files/Rick%2021.jpg>

This next series of pics is showing how i made a raised highway tunnel. As you can see in the first pic, to make it perfectly level, i make sure that both sides are at the same level. Then make sure the sides of the hill i am building through has its sides at a proper gradient.

    /idealbb/files/Rickhttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files/Rick%2032.jpg>

Second, showing that the tunnel will build.

    /idealbb/files/Rick

    And lastly the finnished product.

    /idealbb/files/Rick

My last series of picture displays my last tunnel project of this update, it is of another avenue tunnel. The red marking shows where the tunnel entrance is located.

    /idealbb/files/Rick16.jpg

The next 2 pics show where the entrance and exits will be, first being the entrance and secondly the exit.

    /idealbb/files/Rick

    /idealbb/files/Rick

Next shows that the tunnel will work.

    /idealbb/files/Rick

    And finally the completed project.

    /idealbb/files/Rick

Thats all for this update, this final picture is showing an overview of what i have done, enjoy.

    smirkazor.

Comments are welcome, if you have any queries please let me know about anything.

The reason i can spend hours at a time playing simcity4 is because i am so involved in what i am doing, and i strive for perfection. Also, as you can see i am just concentrating on transportation, as i am trying to get a really great transport layout that works best, so wish me luck. The building will begin soon.

What, a finnishing time for when i complete my transport layout? I would have to say, possibly by sunday, or sometime in the middle of next week. (as i am back doing exams and revising) It mostly depends how much time i have to play simcity4 and how i feel.

I have had some time this late morning to early afternoon to do a bit more. Today i have been working on a quite ambitious project of mine (guess what, more tunnels 9.gif), it involves building two monorail lines underneath a raised Highway, as it would have looked quite odd if i have put in ground level highway in the places in which they would cross, so here is a picture that i have marked out for you to show what i am planning to do. (and already have done as you can guess)

I will need to a bit of explaining.

Everything in the black box will be destroyed.
The Green squares will be lowered to the perfect level for the tunnels to be constructed.
The Red lines are the monorail tracks.
The Yellow lines are where the monorail tunnels will be placed.
The Blue lines are the monorail stations.
The Brown boxes indicate where the ground will be raised.
The dark Blue will be where the avenue tunnels will be.
Finally the Purple lines is where the highway tunnel will be.
    /idealbb/files/Rick17.jpg
I hope this will all make sense.

Righty then, To start off i need to sort out the lowered ground in those green boxes so the tunnels for the monorail lines can be built, like so (pic below)

    /idealbb/files/Rick

and heres one that i made earlier

    /idealbb/files/Rick

In this next pic it shows some of the avenue tunnels that will be constructed.

    /idealbb/files/Rick

The next picture will show the avenue that goes straight up the middle of the hill and the 2 monorail tunnels either side.

    /idealbb/files/Rick

Once all the tunnels were built, (including the highway which i did not inclide in the pictures) the stations and roads that connected them were put in place, and a mass forrest was grown ontop and around the new addition to my transportation layout. As seen below.

    /idealbb/files/Rick

Also, something else that was discusted in the meeting about this new project was some kind of water feature. (as seen below)

    /idealbb/files/Rick

    /idealbb/files/Rick

I hope that you have enjoyed this update, and if you are wondering how i got all those highlights of where the tunnels are going to go in almost one picture, is that i use paint to cut section by section, and paste onto the picture that you see before you above.

Anyway, thats all for today, if your lucky enough that i feel like it i will post another update later tonight, comments are very welcome and will be apreciated (by me) and any questions that you have about anything that i have done, dont hesitate to ask me as i will be more than happy to awnser them, thanks for your time, until next time, seeya.

Well this is going to be the last update focusing on the ground transport layout for this city, as the next will probably be subways 9.gif.

righty then, i got some more tunnels for you in this update, plus an overview of the whole city as it stands now.

first thing first, the new tunnels.

these first tunnels are monorail tunnels, and are highlighted as seen below.

    /idealbb/files/Rick18.jpg

    /idealbb/files/Rick

These next few pictures are showing som aspects of my transport layout. Another small monorail tunnel passing beneath another raised highway.

    /idealbb/files/Rick19.jpg

And overview of part of my city with its transport.

    /idealbb/files/Rick20.jpg

A view of the whole city.

    /idealbb/files/Rick21.jpg

and finally a traffic map to clearly show everything.

    /idealbb/files/Rick

Well, thats all for today, more to come tomorrow, the first foundations will be finally set, and construction will begin. This has been a smirkazor update, thank you for viewing, comments are very welcome, and any questions regarding my city journal will be met with a reply as soon as i am able to reply to it.

Great looking City I love the tunnel usage looks wise I just hope its not to much of a pain to fix function wise I see a few points where conjestion will be high like the highway offramps you created 2 extra intersections that you really don't need. All in all I like your layout and your network layout looks stunning. I hope to see more of this city as it grows will be back to check on it later. Thanks for your hard work and effort.

Time for another update on Rickennington, Rickennington has now reached over 200k sims, to keep up with the ever growing Rickennington, further development on Maxwell-Multinationals most south western commercial district as jobs have become scarce in Rickennington.

here is a pic of what the commercial sector looks like now, in the night view, and i would like to send out a special thanks to all the people who produced these wonderfull BAT buildings that are shown in this CJ, naming a select few, Cobb, Dusktrooper and frogface.

    /idealbb/files/max6.jpg

    /idealbb/files/max7.jpg

now that more jobs are created, those unhappy unemployed sims can now get back to work and earn some dosh. and here are a few pics of what Rickennington looks like now.

I finally got the stuff i needed to creat my large habour around that out cropping land, it sure has made it look alot more desirable, and im sure the sims or Rickennington and the people of the neibouring city, Maxwell-Multinational will very much enjoy the facilities that will be on offer, including fun fairs, jet skies, tours of the industrial docks and many others including an amazing view of Rickenningtons over towering CBD highrises that are soon to be built there. So without further buttering up, i presnt to you River Basins internatinal Port.

    /idealbb/files/Rick30.jpg

Here are some closeer pictures of the port, the north, east and south sections

    /idealbb/files/Rick

    /idealbb/files/Rick

    /idealbb/files/Rick31.jpg

And now, the last and best picture i have saved for last, this picture, once all my commercial highrises are built will look absolutely stunning, but for now its just low rise, but still looks very pretty.

    /idealbb/files/Rick

This will be the last time that you will see this part of Rickennington, as i will not show you it again until it is completely finnished to what i see is my desired outcome, next will be the growth of residential near the centre.

HEY great to see you again mscharamut, where have you been lately? glad to see that you are still alive and able to come see my CJ.

Nows the time for a small update on Rickennington, the first ever industrial development has begun  in Rickennington and here are a few pics to show you what it looks like. The new industrial district is located high up in the boarder hills in River Basin with its main transport link as rail connected to the ports in the harbour. These first few pictures only show the layout of the new industrial estate, you could say its very streamline, in shape and technology, as its only power source is from wind generators, very clean but not too reliable.

    /idealbb/files/Rick32.jpg

    /idealbb/files/Rick

Thats all the pictures for now, more to come later on this evening, so stay tuned, smirkazor out.

Hello everybody, and welcome to my CJ again, today i will be continuing on showing u the finished industrial sector, but first i would like to thank everybody who has commented on my CJ so far, and hope u will keep looking for further updates, which there shall be almost everyday.

Villarule-thanks for your comment, stating the obvious (can you feel the egoism). I do not need to find anytime to play simcity4/rushhour, cos i play it whenever i feel like it and able to play it, and i sure as hell will keep up the excellent work.

Anyways, time for todays update, here you will see the completed (well, nearly completed) industrial sector, it comes in two parts as its tooooo long to fit into one pic.

    /idealbb/files/Rick33.jpg

    /idealbb/files/Rick

but i have one little problem, the rail isnt being used, instead all the products that are produced in this industrial area is being moved via road, which i do not want all of it to do, do you need a large amount of industry to make them use rail?

Here is a little extra for todays update, it is the new residential district being built just north west of the commercial centre of Rickennington. Here is a pic of the zones that have been chosen for this development.

    /idealbb/files/Rick

As you may see, the zones will be a mixed of high and medium density residential, so it will be a range of tower block with apartment buildings as sen below.

    /idealbb/files/Rick

One of the main transport is the monorail that weaves through the new district, in the future to come this will be a vital part to the cities growth as it provides cheap, easy and fast travel through the main parts of the city. That will be all for this update, next update will be tomorrow evening, so stay tuned, and keep those comments comming in, i am very intreeged to find out what you think of the stuff i have done, and anyquestions that you have dont hesitate to ask as i will awnser them as quick as humainly possible. seeyas.

    smirkazor.

p.s. for all those BAT squad members i have a small challenge for you, it is to make a high powered beam light thing that has a fixed point shinning directly diagonally, so they can go round my mound thing with all my tunnels and light it up making it a sight to see please, any one who would like to make this please message me.

smirkazor, this new city is awesome!  I always have grand dreams to try to lay out my transportation in advance like that.  But mine never turns out like yours.  That must take an amazing amount of planning, and time!
