NHP,

I'm loving your maps. Excellent work. That said, I need help. When I tried to render one of your maps (Cincinnati) it came out all goofy looking. I suspect it's because I created a custom config via SCRACC and when I did that it altered the original JPEG. I recreated the region and tried to render it using the files as downloaded and nothing happens. I assume that the standard rendering method doesn't work and I have to use Mapper or Terraformer as your read me's suggest. I run Vista and can't get Mapper to work but I've got Terraformer. My question is how do you go about rendering the maps in terraformer so that I can actually use them in game? I couldn't find a tutorial regarding how to do this but I'm sure there is one somewhere. If you could point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

The instructions of how to install the maps using TerraFormer can be found midway down the readme provided in the zip.  You may want to contact kellydale2003 about getting TerraFormer to work with Vista, there have been issues getting the program to work with Vista and kellydale2003 figured out how to get it to work.  TerraFormer was written to work with XP, long before Vista came into the public domain.

The reason your jpg rendered funky looking is because grayscale jpgs are 8-bit, whereas the maps are made using 16-bit grayscale png images.  Switching to a 8-bit grayscale jpg takes away a lot of the detail that the 16-bit  process gives you.

My mistake. I assumed the readme was the same as the file description on the STEX. Thanks.

Push any harder and I might fall off the cliff I'm standing next to3.gif20.gif18.gif  I'll have it done by this weekend, I've had to work all week when I normally don't, so that has cut into my free time.  Now if you're wondering why all these other maps have been released ahead of yours it's because they were finished before the end of last year and are now just seeing the light of day.  So it's not like I put other projects ahead of your request44.gif

I'm orginally from Santa Barbara Ca. and spent the first 19 years of my life there.  Attended Monroe Elementary ['71-77], La Cumbre Jr. High ['77-'80] and Santa Barbara High ['80-'82] where the former QB of the Eagles named Randall Cunningham graduated my sophomore year.  We'd pass through San Luis Obispo every summer on our way to Morro Bay where my parents would spend a couple of days of our annual summer vacation.

The only Lousiana map I have left to release at this time is Lake Charles, other than that, no immediate plans for more Lousiana maps, but that doesn't mean there won't be more sometime in the future.

Not at the moment, but after I'm done releasing all the US maps that I have completed, Canada, Mexico and Central America is next on the hit-list.  So stay tuned for further developments.19.gif

Ok, the St. Petersburg Florida map is now available on the STEX.  On deck for tomorrow is...

Awesome job on all the maps. I love the Coos Bay map. I am using that one now with some modifications for my new region of Jernotia.

Wow!  That looks pretty sweet44.gif  It's always fun to get a glimpse at how others develop the regions I map.  Thanks for sharing those pics with us.  As for Erie PA. I'll have to look and see if there is or not.  I'm getting close to wrapping up the US map releases [probably by the 3rd week in Oct] and will soon be focusing on Canada, Mexico and Central America and a few random places here and there.

As always, NHP's latest map, Tallahassee is now available on the STEX.  On deck for tomorrow is a map that was a joint project with Heblem.  I needed a bit of assistance with lowering the sea floor a bit more than the usual methods failed...

Sorry for the delay in posting pics of new maps, but I've been hooked on a series of books that I've been reading and can't put them down for more than a few moments t a time.  So anyways, having read until my vision blurred [roughly 200 pages in about 2 hours] tonight, I would like to announce that Lincoln Nebraska has just been released to the STEX and on deck for tomorrow is...

    Omaha, Nebraska:

Hey Blade, do you think you could make a map of Holmes, NY? I know it's small, but I would really appreciate it.quote>

I'll see what I can do, though I thought I already made one for you...

Anyways, the Omaha Nebraska map is now available on the STEX.  On deck for tomorrow is...
