I'd never been to many major cities until very recently. I've never been out of the country, but here are my impressions:

    1. Tulsa, OK - Maybe biased, but there's all sorts of culture mixed together, giving the city a very unique flavor. You can live however you want to.

    2. Kansas City, MO - Sure, there's a good deal of crime. The feel of the city was, however, very safe I thought. The downtown was busy, the culture was prevalent. Very midwestern, giving it some pluses and minuses...

    3. Colombus, OH - Clean, comfortable, and cultured. I didn't stay long, but I loved what I did see.

    4. Washington, DC - A great city in itself. Not just because it's the US capital (I consider that a minus) but because of the vibrant lifestyle and architecture.

    5. Broken Arrow, OK - My hometown, a suburb of Tulsa. If I didn't include it, I'd be a traitor.

    5. New York, NY - A tie!!!! No need to explain.

    1. Washington D.C. (Capitol Hill, METRO, and "Your Tax Dollars At Work" slogan origin, HISTORY)

    2. Charleston, SC (Rich Southern hospitality and historic preservation, the Atlantic New Orleans but cleaner)

    3. Philadelphia, PA (Skyscrapers and rich history)

    4. Birmingham, AL (Corrupted city, hometown, huge underground river, beautiful skyline, can't stand the suburbs because I live in them)

    5. Atlanta, GA (best view of the city is off of 285 on the Paces Ferry Road SE, terrible road system downtown, Coca-Cola and Six Flags, only 2hrs away)

Of the cities i've been to:

    1) Toronto - applause for a great streetcar system that US cities mistakenly abandoned, great diversity, extremely safe

    2) NYC - Very efficient subway system & extensive commuter rail networks, can't beat the skyline

    3) Minneapolis/St. Paul - I like the dual culture of the cities, plus their strategic location on the Mississippi, as well as plenty of lakes and parks out in the suburbs

    4) Chicago - the "True" Second city. (Los angeles is not a city, it is a mess.)

    5) Washington DC - I like how the subway system reaches out into the suburbs, and how there are multiple cities surrounding it. I am not a fan of the roundabouts, though it does give the city character. The surrounding area leaves something to be desired though: terrible traffic, and no nearby beaches (even though it is an "east coast" city)

First, I'm from St. Cloud MN, too! However, I think it is a terrible city, poorly planned, bad infrastructure, and there is absolutely nothing there! But, its my hometown so I still love it. My top five:

    1) Minneapolis/St. Paul- Currently living here, and love every minute of it. My favorite thing about the two is how despite being two major cities right next to each other, they have distinctly unique feels to them. In Minneapolis, business is king. In St. Paul, business takes a back seat to the consumer.

    2) Portland OR- Great infrastructure, very green and liberal place. Great culture. There are tons of things to do. Its a beautiful city

    3) Washington, DC- I am just in awe at how the whole city was planned. The mall is a moving place for any American.

    4) New York, NY- Center of the world, 'nuff said.

    5) Bozeman, MT- I have been here 4 times. I think it is one of the most pleasant and beautiful little towns one could ever go to. The downtown is hopping, the mountains surround it. You definitely have the western laid-back experience when you visit. It has everything I ever wanted St. Cloud to be.

I've been to all of these except NY (unfortunately).

Huh, I'm kind of surprised by how many people put down places they haven't been to... seems kind of hard to call it a favorite city when you've never seen it!

Well, I've lived in all of the big three (NY, London, Tokyo) but my favorites are smaller cities that have a more unique feel. For example (I couldn't really rank them, so in no particular order):

Brugges, Belgium; beautifully well-preserved medieval city center.

Nikko, Japan: gorgeous scenery and tons of great old-world architecture.

Oxford, UK: lived there for three years, great town even outside the historic university.

Prague, Czech Republic: fun town and also very well-preserved.

Siena, Italy: In case you hadn't noticed, I'm a sucker for medieval architecture. 4.gif

Ooh, forgot one!  Cintra, Portugal... neat old town up in the hills;  apparently Byron hung out there a lot 10.gif

    My favorite cities?

    1. Alexandra Louisiana, United States

2.New York, New York, United States

    3. New Orleans, Louisiana United States

    4. St. Louis, Missiouri, United States

    5. Shreveport, Louisiana, United States

Those are the cities that I like the most. 4 I've been to, #1, I live there. 9.gif As for New York, I never been, but seen so many pics and know much about it.
