well, as I've said we're talking about few seconds anyway, so it isn't a big deal. I'm pretty sure that everybody would go for the highest quality here.

I've brought it to you attention cause I was thinking if that slowdown is due to some wrong doing on my part.

It turns out that the command line switch to change the dxt compression type was faulty and I  had overlooked a change to the code that sets the compression type that I made during testing, causing the program to use the lower quality compression.

That has been fixed, File version updated to 1.1.0.0.

Although having such a functionality may be a cool thing to simply put on the list of what program can do, but in practical term it is counterproductive, actually. Because of it it needed to add one more line of text in batch file which isn't really great. Golden rule is to keep it as simple as possible since it isn't really open to the user, and setting has to be predetermined. In the end the only real result is that extra text in Batch file...

The dxt command line switch was pointless so I removed it in 1.1.0.0.

As for the program using a relative path that has been added if the path is relative it will combine it with the programs location or it can use the full path in quotes either one should work.

I only added the relative path because I was not sure if you had solved the issue with the spaces, if the path in quotes works I would use that.

That I did... but to make sure that max could be installed to anywhere (including it default Program Files folder) there is one more problem with FSHwrite. Path issue is solved with quotes, but how to do the same (empty spaces in a path) of the location of the program itself. in a batch file it has to be called, plus this call can not be specific as we don't know exact location of it. But we know a relative one, but if it will contain empty space how will it work? we couldn't quote out that too, now could we?

the batch file itself will be located in the same folder where program is residing as well... do you know if it would still be necessary to point it to it, or would it be possible to call it directly (by simply giving it's name in batchfile?)

I can't test any of it for now as I'm away from my PC desktop and only have Mac powerbook at my disposal at the moment

If the batch file is in the same folder as the program you should not need to specify the full path.

    eg  fshwrite.exe /b:"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2009\gamepacks\BAT\temp\render.bmp" /a:"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2009\gamepacks\BAT\temp\render_a.bmp"

Thanks once more for your dedication to updating this useful tool. I didn't realise this was unintended behaviour, or I'd have reported it ages ago. I'm guessing here you picked up on my comment?

Could I also trouble you to consider updating the link to it on the STEX on the first post. Like many here, it no longer works.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.
