Mine, clean and simple. I grow tired of icons everywhere. :)

「気になります!」"I'm curious!" It's Chitanda's punchline from the anime Hyouka. This img makes me laugh a little when I look at it long enough.

You may want to make the horizon horizontal with a program like Picasa ;)

Indicates a hand held camera. Why make it mechanical?

This was taken without a Tripod. I didn't bring that photo through GIMP. Thanks for your advice. My dad is in love with Picasa.

And thanks to A Nonny Moose and JackSunny.

^ You did a nice job customising that. There's a program you can DL that'll get rid of the watermark if it annoys you.

I wouldn't put too much time into it though... MS probably won't give you a decent way to upgrade it to the final version once it's released.

I have just today updated the operating system of my desktop computer, from Linux Mint 11, with GNOME 2, to Linux Mint 13, with XFCE 4.10. This system was released just yesterday, sunday 22 of july. Is running with many applets natives to XCFE and two applets from GNOME, MintMenu and Dockbarx, working with MATE applets, a compatibility layer for XFCE that allows to run GNOME and MATE applets into the panel of XFCE. This screenshot is showing Firefox, Thunar, Rhythmbox and a Screenlet.

Here's my desktop. This current pic was taken June 2012 from my front porch here in the Ouachita Mountains. (wash-i-taw is how most folks pronounce it leaving off the "o" most times). I think I am blessed to get to see such sights on a daily basis.

I have unistalled Linux Mint 13 MATE and installed Linux Mint 13 XFCE. Well, not bad, but XFCE is lighweight desktop that I only use when I'm going to play SC4. But I've installed 3 more desktops: Cinnamon, GNOME-Shell and Unity. This is my Cinnamon desktop under Linux Mint 13:

I've been procrastinating on getting MS Office, so you can see the dabbling around with various open source products. (I really miss the ribbon menus.)

So after 4 years of service, my laptop suffered a terrible tragedy and entered into retirement. Seeing as my mobility requirements have shifted significantly and I no longer require a laptop, I opted to build myself a desktop. This was the result.

The beast is currently powering this for wallpaper.

I'm happy with the end result. Upgrades are coming for it in the future. The "GPU on CPU" graphics solution will be replaced with a legitimate graphics card eventually, and it will have a SSD once the prices drop. :golly:

Congratulations and welcome to the real world. Mobility is fine when you need it. I haven't for over 10 years, and I don't miss it. You seem to have rather a lot of fans. Are you expecting a heat wave? And why the blue lights?

The decision to switch to a desktop was motivated by a couple of issues:

    1) As I said, I do not absolutely require a laptop anymore. Desktops offer better options for future upgrades to keep the machine relevant in the years to come.

    2) I have an ongoing project that requires more resources than most laptops can deliver. The laptop that I had been using was better than many machines today, and it couldn't handle the demands of my project work. I'm hoping between one of Intel's top processors and 16GB of RAM, this machine will be able to run the project in its entirety. A laptop with those specifications would have broken the bank.

As for the case, I purchased one that was designed with gamers and other high performance users in mind. The case is specifically designed to support triple SLI graphics solutions, an overclocked CPU, multiple SSDs, 5 hard drives, and more. If you are going to cool that via moving air, you will need a lot of fans, and the case was built to support 7 intake fans. The other two fans are exhaust fans that came with the case, with one of them having a blue light.
