Well, they had to employ people to do the work, and that is the point of the ARRA. To many of us who don't experience the benefits of projects like this, we tend to ignore the benefits the area residents get. It is a congressperson's responsibility to support their constituentcies, and this does just that.

Well...I think they could divert about half of that cash to the public schools. But hey, that's just me...

Not sure about Duke's posting but this sounds like a monumental waste of money. Why not, say use it for something that more than 20 people a day actually use... like schools, or maybe hospitals? I guess I'm asking way too much here.34.gif

Well I looked it up on google and it does have a lot of other uses. All military related. So one of its main functions for the Amercian public is that a lot of military intelligence is happening there. I feel safer already.

On a related note, Pittsburgh has a really big international airport laid out like Atlanta's with multiple concourses and an underground people mover, but since the early 2000's it's maybe 60% used due to the demise US Airway's central hub service there. The reason why they left was high fees, ironically to fund a white elephant expansion.

They could've given PGH that money to subsidize operations and keep their hub air service.
