Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong forum... Hope someone knows how to fix this...

Just in case, Boot Camp is the option that lets you run Windows on newer Intel Apple computers. I don't think it's virtualization, but it's not exactly Windows-certified, though it does have very similar hardware.

The main conflict I'm guessing is the nVidia graphics card, but either way I'll post my specs.

This is according to Windows XP.

Windows XP Pro SP3

Intel Core 2 Duo

P8600 @ 2.4 GHz (*****?)

1.58 GHz

1.97 GB of RAM

nVidia GeForce 9600M GT 256 MB

Thanks alot! Ususally it will just randomly crash within 5 minutes of playing.

I doubt any hardware issues would cause the game to crash.

Its probably due to using it in bootcamp...

Do other games crash in bootcamp?

Have you downloaded any plugins?

There can often be a case where if you select a transit enabled lot and hover it over another transit enabled lot, the game will crash.

I don't think that it will be bootcamp, although I don't quite know, I have never used it myself. But I don't think that it would be a bootcamp issue.

Although, how much space did you save for bootcamp? eg, 20GB, 10GB ect...

Bootcamp is no different than running on a regular PC.

Your problem is likely due to an error in your installation of SC4 or Windows.... or something you are doing in the game (likely with one of the plug-ins). So tell us what you are doing when it crashes.

I also installed Command & Conquer Generals

Runs in higher resolution and never crashes!

However, my favorite game tends to....

I swear it'll crash without an excuse. I don't have any plugins installed, though I'm dying to try out the new NAM.

Have installed all updates of the game correctly and downloaded DirectX 9 too.

The last time it crashed for example, i was querying my transit stations and residential lots.

This time it crashed when I selected the Bulldozer tool...

    You think it's the installation?

UPDATE: This time it crashed because I moved my mouse. Somthing is suspicious.

Uninstall SC4, through Windows, then reinstall it. You really should re-ask the question within the regular forms, then don't mention you are on a Mac, because you are on Bootcamp, there should be no different than being on a Dell or Lenovo PC, so the PC users would be better to assist you. However, some of the moderators, move threads to the Mac forum at the slightest mention of Mac, as our game has some unique problems.

Since this is an issue with an installation of the Windows version of the game, running on Windows, I'm moving this back to the regular Bugs&Technical Issues forum.

If you can't get it to work in boot camp, try wine or crossover games. Wine is free and crossover games is based on wine and costs money but you get commercial support and and easier interface. Wine: http://www.kronenberg.org/darwine/ Crossover Games: http://www.codeweavers.com/products/

I use Wine (in Linux, should probably work just as well on Mac) and SC4 works just fine, just some minor graphical issues, but loading cities goes a lot faster than it did on XP, as well as overall performance. GL getting everything to work.

I give up... or should I? It's weird. I read the game has incompatibility issues in Vista, but I'm in XP!

I just would rather use XP as it is. Because I never had the chance to get a good PC, this is my way of finding out if I missed out on anything. Everything is much faster, but sc4 still crashes ALOT. Been looking around the Internet. Same thing has been happening to many people. lol Lemme copy some links

Never tried it, but there's a good chance it will (but also a chance that something might not work right). Never know 'till you try.
