cant load my downloaded region

i dont know what im doing wrong, it worked once but i cant seem to get it to show. i have downloaded several regions from this site and saved them to the regions folder in the sc4 game, i see it there but when i open the game and try to load the region its not there only the regions that came with the game. can someone help me? im using a mac so i really need help

Were the maps made using SC4 Terraformer, or are they greyscale images. If it's the first one, you're out of luck, there is no way to turn the Terraformer files into a SC4 region without Windows. If it's the second one, then this Omnibus article has the information you need. It was written for the Windows version, but everything works the same in the Mac version (just remember, "alt"="option").

Also, make sure you use the regions folder in your Documents folder. For some reason, the game doesn't recognize new region folders placed in the regions folder in the SC4 Data folder (at least in my experience).

ok thanks bwatterud, i saved it to my docs. it did show up in simcity4 regions now, but when i load that new region it just shows me a typical region(not with the layout that i expected) meaning its just like starting a new region, where i have to do the terraformer thingy myself, its not opening like it showed on the STEX. oh and yes downloaded the greyscale and that other pic dont know what it is called. thanks

ok i tried what i read in that article but cant seem to make it work, im using a non mac wireless keyboard. when i load the new region it shows me just a basic new region, nothing like the one i downloaded, what does this mean? The normal wireless keyboard combination to use is [Alt Gr] + Shift + R. i cant find Alt gr

It's ok if you can't use [Alt Gr] + Shift + R, instead replace that step by clicking "global tools" on the side bar and clicking import image to open up the grayscale image dialog box. Also remember to put the config.bmp file in the region folder... Otherwise SimCity 4 will not load the region. I hope this will help you out

It should be there in the top left corner of the window where your region is , you don't hav to use those either if im not mistaken.

my regions wont load correctly that i downloaded off here. all it shows is a beginning region even though i have the correctly downloaded it

"beginning region," meaning just a bunch of completely flat cities?. That's normal. You need to have the game render the region, by following the steps in the Omnibus article I linked earlier.

Alt and Alt Gr are the Option Key. So just use the regular Alt key on a non-Mac keyboard on a Mac, as they are the same key to Apple.

off topic help please, i am showing some minor glitches in my graphics, i have a newer mac and at times the smoke/water look fuzzy and broken, its never crisp. and i also see faces in my sidewalks, edges of region and buildings that i never zoned, when i destroy them they go away and am charged nothing, can this be changed, helpedf?
