I have a very strange problem with Opera 10.63 and "Schulmanator" in the new CJs Forum. I used " because I don't think he is attacking me ...

Whenever a Schulmanator CJ is on a page my Opera goes Bananas - most of the time it freezes and don't show what comes behind the Schulmanator CJ. Yesterday when I wanted to updated my CJ Opera did show the page - except for my CJ Urland.

I don't have this problem in other forums and I don't have it when I use Firefox. Anyone else witnessed such a strange behaviour of his browser?

It happens the same using IE since some months ago. When I have this problem with Schulmania, I change my browser to Firefox. Seems that the whole CJ section works much better with Firefox than with IE or Opera.

I am having problems uploading to the STEX. The first one worked fine but with the second one the "please wait uploading" display never goes away. Could there be something wrong with some part of the upload? What are common reasons for unsuccessful uploads?

When attempting to upload to the STEX 2day I am getting error msgs bout my pics, They are both in jpg format and each is less than 40kb in size. Any ideas?

Well, I got the problem using Firefox... and Opera... (wouldn't touch IE with a 10 foot pole).

EDIT: Just tried again with Opera - and it worked this time... which amazes me, because normally my Opera is the one having probs on ST...

Hopefully it's just "one of these things"... So on my end - case closed

I have a new problem in the new CJ section (to go along with the existing "Generally Messed Up Curse" that plagues my Cj when I update it).

will only show down to the top of my reply and not anything under that. Weird...

And to anyone afflicted by the aforementioned curse when the CJ is updated, rest assured that it is ST and not me. It has been an ongoing problem since the day I started the new section CJ. At points my CJ has been merged into Retep Molinari's, disappeared, fused with various random CJs or even disappeared temporarily. Several other CJs initiated at the same time as mine have the same problem, though it may not be apparent anymore since most of those are now dormant.

Well, ST has been legitimately hacked before (widespread loss of data kind) so this is barely even worth mentioning if that is all they managed to do.

The homepage itself was hacked; I did nothing except do my usual which is to go to http://www.simtropolis.com. It's hard to notice it in the picture because I resized it from 1920x1600 but thats the URL. After I saw it I did a google search for the STEX and made it to this thread through there. It was fixed within an hour or two after I saw it, when the site was then brought down for maintenance.

I freaked out when I saw it and preached all the existing gods to bring the site to its usual status. Very fortunately, this hack wasn't the one this site suffered. I've heard a lot of this hack (like the effects of it are still present in the site) but never read the details about it...

Yeah, it really sucked. It truncated forum posts over a certain length, so CJs were hit pretty hard (including my own).

in regards to my uploading issues, they seem to be somewhat mac related (but not entirely). I was able to successfully upload my TD essentials upload https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=25339 on my mac, using my usual browser (safari). However, I was unable to upload either the winery or TAB this way. I also tried firefox without success. drunkapple uploaded the winery for me and I was able to successfully upload the TAB by booting up into windows 7 (and using IE...).

I have since successfully updated the TD essentials package from the mac side without issue.

What's the difference between these attempts?

I tried for ages to get one model to upload, both on windows and mac, different internet connection as well at times. Then one day it just uploaded, and all was good.

It could have been the time of day, as I know that downloading speeds are affected by time of day, I would assume upload speeds are too. Try and upload when there aren't many people on the site, usually at night.

Somehow the forums and some buttons (including the "More"-button in the Current Discussion section) on the home page) lead to a poll about Israeli war crimes at king5.com, making ST difficult to access. Is this some sort of a hack attack? Something freaky is going on here...

Fortunately the reply-window is working, but I'm not sure if anyone can read this...

Something fishiy going on: everytime I click the "go top" or "go bottom" arrows, the page suddenly jumps to a survey result (Israel war crimes - Kings TV?) page?

Ack, looks like Simtropolis and STEX are hacked and infected...redirecting browser windows and STEX pop-ups to a poll result on www.king5.com as part of someone's personal political cause against Israel.  Everyone monitor the virus and spyware scanners.  Opening the pop-up Detail window of a STEX upload will trigger the redirect, as will opening the pop-up editor window when replying to a message in a thread.
