    Update 6- Elsford Amusement Park

    Parkopolis has an amusement park-YAY!

    Update-6-7.jpg

The famous entrance sign for the park. Although not as famous as the Hollywood sign.

    Update-6-8.jpg

Elsford Park is the most popular tourist destination in Parkopolis, with annual attendance figures of 2,300,000 people.

    Update-6-9.jpg

    Update-6-10.jpg

Timber! is the oldest rollercoaster in the park.

    Update-6-2.jpg

In this picture is the Elsford Haunted House, which features an electronic counter over the queue that reads 'Souls Claimed' followed by the number of attendees who have ever entered. Currently the number reads at around 6,005,000.

    Update-6-6.jpg

This picture was probably taken on a pretty cold day! Not many people at the splash park.

    Update-6-11.jpg

    Update-6-12.jpg

    Update-6-3.jpg

Angel's Flight, the newest rollercoaster in the park.

    Update-6-5.jpg

    Update-6-4.jpg

    Update-6-13.jpg

Heres an overview of the park. Thanks for visiting!

The amusement park looks great! It looks like you made plenty of custom lots to make the park look seamless. Great work!

selles- Thanks, although I only actually made the lots for the entrance sign! Thanks anyway. 1.gif

newyorkrunaway1- I'll look forward to seeing your theme park then, though most sc4 theme parks probably have to have the same rides 3.gif Thanks for your comment!

SC4Poser-moser- Yeah I made the island and I thought for a long time...'what should I do with it?' I ruled out making it another normal park, because the downtown island park is too close to it. Then I remembered you can make theme parks...37.gif

You can find all the essential theme park kit if you type 'MAPP' into the STEX search box.

edmonton_stinks- Ahh yes, Rollercoaster Tycoon was a great game. I used to have it but one of my friends snapped the CD by accident! I was literally thinking when I made the park '...This actually looks a bit like something from Rollercoaster Tycoon...' 3.gif

    Thanks for your comment!

    jacqulina- Thanks Jacky 9.gif

CarluX- Thanks! To make the seawalls is pretty easy but you'll need this download (if you want the same walls as mine)

You basically select a 'flatten terrain tool', either from God Mode or Mayor Mode (God is much better) and make your land edges straight, then plop the seawalls on them!

I recently remembered I forgot to add the region view picture to the last update, so I'll put it here. Enjoy!

    Update-6-1.jpg

As you can see it is fairly big, but has a long way to go before I deem it 'complete'.

I think it's coming along very nicely. The amusement park is very well spaced. I always ending up putting everything too close together.

The region view is looking good!

But to be honest, is there such thing as "complete" in SC4? Probably not, and that's what I love about the game.

Everything looks great so far! It will be interesting to see what you include to mix it up as you expand your region. Very nice three pages going here! The amusement park reminds me a bit of Cedar Point, being huge and on a peninsula and all. The downtown area is impressive, especially at night, but most impressive are your park areas. It looks like a lot of time and effort went into making them perfect, and they do look fantastic. Great stuff here!

Muck308- Thanks, although you know, sometimes attractions at theme parks are pretty close together, even overlapping each other, but you can't do that with the MAPP though, haha!

selles- Thanks selles. And yes, you would be right. Theres no such thing as complete in SC4! But you probably know what I mean, theres still a lot of empty, flat terrain in the region.

SC4Poser-moser- Yeah, although I don't actually know what the best port downloads are, or even if those downloads can be found by typing 'port' into the search box on the STEX. So if you know of any good downloads, be sure to tell me! 1.gif

NMUSpidey- Thanks very much! Creating variety in the different areas of the region is always something I'm trying to achieve, so hopefully I won't run out of ideas. Thanks for the comments on my parks as well!

    Update 7

Pretty much all of the land on the large peninsula opposite downtown has now become urbanised. In this update I will show what I've done to the upper half of that peninsula, and the next update will show the lower half.

Great update!! Again, fantastic job with all those parks. I really like how you include a wide variety of trails throughout your city. The suburban style residential areas are well executed, and I LOVE those commercial office complexes in images 8 and 9. Transportation map looks great too. I'd love to see development at the bottom of the peninsula. The transportation network there looks great.

Awesome! Love the amusement park...I always find myself failing at those, but you executed it nicely with the waterfront style

Those suburbs look great too; coincidentally, the second Silicon Valley-style campus consists of buildings from Santa Clara! Random useless fact.

    Great work as always!

selles- Thanks for the comment, and thanks very much for adding my CJ to your sig! 44.gif I'll post the update for the lower part of the peninsula soon, maybe tommorow.

SC4Poser-moser- Ok, thanks! I've downloaded the realism pack (and most of the dependencies...phew!) Now I just gotta think about whether I build one...and where I'd put it...

GreekMan- Thanks for visiting, glad you like my CJ 9.gif

Those canals are just made of the normal God-mode water (although not maxis water), rather than a canal mod. Just drag the water tool inland, and straighten the edges around it, and voila! I use the Brigantine water mod for the texture.

IDS2- Good to hear your liking the amusement park and suburbs. And a 18.gif at your random useless fact!

jonpaulosiglos- Thanks for the comment! Some of the park pieces come from a golf pack from the STEX (open grass area and trees, as well as good golf courses!) whereas the rest is a mixmatch of Maxis parks, custom lots, and PEG ponds.

    rjm35- Thanks for your comment!

TmiguelT- Thanks! Although I don't know of any downloadable walls for the canal edges that wouldn't look out of place, unfortunately!

    panthersimcity4- Thanks Panther 9.gif

nottheboss- Good to read you like all of it, and yep, I will keep up the postin'. 10.gif

blakesterville- Thank you, your comments are appreciated 1.gif. Though I don't know what you mean by 'I wish simcities could be larger'; as far as I know, you could make them as large as your computer will allow, by editing the config.bmp file for each region.

    Update 8: Lower Peninsula

    Update8-5.jpg

No, the circular area is not some special government area, it's basically a shopping centre!

    Update8-6.jpg

    Update8-4.jpg

This picture shows some of the large beachfront park...

    Update8-3.jpg

    ...which continues over here.

    Update8-2.jpg

Here you can see a small town which has become annexed into Parkopolis.

    Update8-12.jpg

    Update8-8.jpg

Close ups of a commercial strip on the west side of the peninsula. It spans the area where the very long sea wall (you could walk to downtown along it, only having to cross one bridge) ends and the coast becomes a beach.

    Update8-9.jpg

    Update8-10.jpg

    Update8-1.jpg

New apartments are being built along the beach, all already sold, I'm afraid! 3.gif

    Update8-7.jpg

    Update8-13.jpg

    Update8-11.jpg

    Update8-14.jpg

I read about, tracked down and downloaded Gizmo's night mod for this pic today. Saves me having to photoshop my night pics! Right, that's the peninsula covered. I hope you liked looking at it!

    Till next time...
