    Gemini River Ridge...

Hmm... was expecting more feedback on the industrial park... oh well... if you missed it, check the bottom of page 4.

    Let's get to some responses...

danielcote: Thanks Dan. The park will remain industrial as other parts of the city fills the commercial demand.

CompuerGuy890100: The industrial is doing well now after its recovery. Thanks.

edmonton_stinks: Edmonton can't be that bad... is it? Thanks for stoppin'

I wanted to bring you some images on the recent developments around the shopping center. So you don't have to scroll back... here's a before shot...

Just after the center was built...

And here we are after a few of the out parcels have developed... Note all of the new residential across from the center.

    50% complete... or so...

Now here are a few close ups of the developments in the out parcels...

Food is always a big attraction...

    and another...

    A new 3-star travel inn...

and what mall would be complete without a movie theater...

A landmark preserved and a new movie house...

and a final shot of the main entrance...

The main entry into the shopping center...

And here's a shot of the area across the highway.... I just like this shot...

    Nice roundabout...

So there's the development around the center so far... Hope you like.

As always, your constructive criticisms are always warmly received.

    Have Fun...

I can't believe I missed an update! What was I doing?

Your industrial park is pretty impressive. I really like the way you added all that greenery to the area. Leaving that church sit next to the cemetery adds a nice touch of character and history to the city. Also, I like the main entrance into the industrial park, with the roundabouts and the one ways. The brick works really well there too. On a side note, I really like the amount of detail you're giving every single area of your cities. Using the ploppable grass on that soccer field makes it look worn down, and it works really well with that area. I also thought the drainage basin was a great idea.

It looks like all the lots around the shopping mall sold like hot cakes! I like the variety of apartments you have on the other side of the avenue. With that many residents, how is traffic like on that avenue and highway? I like the main entrance to the mall, how much traffic goes through those one ways?

I think that last picture is my favourite from the last two updates. I like your extensive use of the roundabout, and you make it work really well too. Those two diagonal buildings make for a pretty nice centre piece. It must look pretty impressive driving towards the traffic circle from the top of the picture.

On a side note, I just now realized that the cars are driving on the left hand lane.

Anyway, I'm blabbing so I'll shut up until your next update.

Wow looks awesome! The area looks just so grimy! I mean that in a good way - it really brings a nice touch to the area. The football field covered with grass looks very cool and fits very well with the surrounding area! Keep up the good work!

edit: Oh sorry I kinda commented on the update on the previous page.  The shopping center looks perfect!  Very nice use of custom content.

    Hi, rk,

I like how you've continued to "countrify" the Industrial Park a bit with the Mayor Mode Flowers and Bushes.  It was a nice touch to make the soccer field overgrown, like that group of players just roughed it in.  Then your "citified" area has a nice contrast with smooth green lawns and those sophisticated Porky trees.  (Who ever thought to see "sophistated" and "Porky" in the same sentence? 3.gif)  I also don't see the LA River ditches used much, and they really add to the theme.

The shopping mall area has filled in well, with some nice-looking embellishments.  It seems to have spurred the growth of that riverside residential area.  I just love finding the exactly perfect center for a particular roundabout--it's very satisfying, no?  The only thing I might suggest for your metro area is a few more different deciduous trees, as you've done around one of the lakes, but that's just a personal preference. 4.gif

Keep on, and bye for now.

Hmm I like the tall mixed era designs of the apartments giving it a more urban appeal but adding some plump forests around it gave it a more natural appeal. I also love that new commercial strip around it grow it up! and can you show an update about you're rural farms and communities soon too thanks.

Great stuff, as always,...I especially love the Shopping/Commercial Development and that very flamboyant entrance,...very cool,...bet you had fun doing that.

Have you tried some of my Industrial/Rail stuff from 2006? It's old,...but still great eye-candy.

I'll be making some newer stuff when the RAM project winds down,...btw, The official STR addon stuff is now available,...Set 1 is completed,...we're still working on Set 2, which will include 3 and 4 track stuff.

    Hey RK,

Sorry for the lack of comment recently.

Now, that high tech teaser (page 4)

First, I like that "U" shaped street, intersesting trick!

The aspen Condos sector... I like it, very classy!

    The "vertical" update:

    Nice location on the riverbank

the next picture with the triangular (Glenni I'd guess) bats is really a class A shot, really like the added plazas in front of the shops, nice breathing room!

    The huge Mall update:

    Really good layout, very lifelike.

    The Industrial park update

The church overtaken by industy... a fact that is very often seen these days in urban area,,, if my eyes are still OK I think I can discern a Chris adams path leading to the old cemetary... nice touch.

The vacant lot with the dilapidated soccer (or football as it's called in some country) field is pure genius! with the small "diner" nearby. Great touch!

The Mall 2nd update (page 5)

The development is going well, as could be expected in such a neighborhood.

You've created a very good setup, I like the way you've placed walkways and greenery within your parking lots...

All in all you're doing very well!

    -John

Hey Dan... thanks for still thinking about me. R/L has gotten in the way so need to get some things done there.

I had started to create some modular farming lots but for some reason LE didn't save them correctly and I cannot open them up in LE Prop or within the game. I guess I need to go back and redo.

The concept I was working on was to let the game grow a residential unit. Then surround it with aggriculture to grow a farm with fields. Then demo the farm and build up the modules around the residential unit to create a more open and airey farm environment.

The modules were an assortment of barns, storage sheds, silos and so forth that I could group with the residential unit thereby getting real residential living with the farm jobs.

When I get the time I will work that idea up and see how it plays.

Hopefully standby for something before the end of the month... fingers crossed

I guess Edmonton isn't that bad, I think they're on the fringe of the playoffs right now though I still don't like them.

Take your time update-wise, if they're all as good as this then it's definitely worth the wait!

Awesome shopping mall district there! Thanks for a good idea of how to make a really nice shopping area complete with hotels and other stores and restaurants around. Really neat.
