download it at adobe.com and it is SUPER expensive! we use it at school. Using it requires lots of learning and time, we have whole classes devoted to it!

The program itself is very expensive and it's illegal to download it "free".

If you really want it go somewhere else and ask.

Alot of people use GIMP at SimTropolis, the nice thing is that it's free and it works for PCs as well as mac, something to consider I guess. Here's the link: http://www.gimp.org/

Another thing to consider is buying photoshop, I don't think photoshop elements is too expensive.

I would suggest using GIMP. It does all the "major" stuff you expect from Photoshop.

The link for GIMP for mac is http://darwingimp.sourceforge.net/ and yes it can make 16-bit png images. In GIMP: image menu -> mode -> indexed -> OK --- Save As *.png

I use GIMP for all my screenshots and simcity stuff. Especially because it is easy to make tilt-shift images. As for Photoshop, if you are willing to spend money, most local computer software retailers sell it.

I have Photoshop, and Image reader, they came together, plus i use paintshop pro 7 and jasc animation works 3, so i have all that i need, i only got photoshop a few days ago from a friend, so i'm still learning how to do it, but i used image reader to compile all of the shots that SC4 did when i used the recorder cheat.

Note: when you use the recorder function in SC4, it will record all of your movements as Jpeg, ping's, and even gif images, so you need a program that can string all of them together, and produce and animation. Not that i recommend using the ingame recorder, as it produces very small images, about 160x100, or something like that...

Adobe Image Ready also allows you to compile frames for animation. The cool thing about purchasing PhotoshopCS3(current version available), is the huge manual you get and the tut CD's, not to mention invites to some really nice Adobe seminars.

I have purchased PS Elements, Illustrator CS2 and PhotoshopCS2. Gimp is a great free program, but doesn't come close to the amount of features you will get with Adobe softwares. Be prepared to shell out upwards of 1200.00 USD, for Adobe bundles

All of these were created in PSCS2 and animated in ImageReady:
