Least Favorite City

By that I mean any large metro area, or large central city. For me its San Diego and all its suburbs, the reason:

Its and almost universally conservative area, a bastion for jarheads and yupppies. Unlike other large cities, San Diego has almost NO diversity, and everybody has the same personality and mindset. Everyone is very selfish, hot-headed, and intolerant; while also being very conservative on politics. I MEAN EVERYBODY I MEET HERE IS CONSERVATIVE!!!!!!!!!!!! THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS. I mean, even the Democrats here are fiscally conservative, and socially intolerant, being disdainful of homosexuals and the like. Everybody on the Internet from here is either a Republican, Navy, or Yuppie, so is everybody I met. This area has no diversity, no exceptions. Even the hispanics here are especially conservative for their demographic and laregely represented by the military; and they generally support the Minutemen.

Why I hate it? IM DIFFERENT. And there aren't different types of people around here, its a CESSPOOL by definition. No other populated area is nearly has homogenous and conservative as this area, NOT EVEN THE BIBLE BELT STATES. As you can see lots from those states are liberal on the forum, but all the SD members are conservative. Same goes for every forum and myspace/youtube; if their location is here, they are conservative.

If there were any exceptions, where are they? ANSWER: THERE ARE NONE!!!! There are no liberal minded people other than a few old intellectuals at UCSD, and even the Democrats are fiscally and socially conservative, as well as totally pro-military. Even conservative leaning OC has exceptions, and they are affluent online and I spot them all the time.

To add on, I am both geeky and hippie; which are two things that this city hates, and does not have. San Diego people are on the dumb side, and thoughtful people don't even exist here, and if they did, they'd be on the Internet, but they aren't. San Diego does not have any clubs or sets of people that are different from the status quo. Its the most conformist metropolitan area on the entire US, and by far the least diverse.

I HATE SAN DIEGO

You sound like you've been hurt by San Diego! I'm sure that if there's anyone here from San Diego who can empathise with you, they'll pipe up. If there are people who disagree with you they'll also most certainly speak up. Myself, I've never been to San Diego, nor have I been to any US city, so I can't have an opinion on it. You make it sound like hell on earth... but this must be wrong! You have Seaworld don't you?

In your speech you drifted from 'least favourite' to 'hate'. I won't do that. There are lots of reasons to 'hate' a place and it's people, for example I 'hate' Liverpool (UK) because i'm a Manchester United fan, but as I've never been to Liverpool I can't really have an opinion on the city in general.

I guess then, that my least favourite city (that i've had experience with) must be Venice, Italy...

Now you've had a moment to get over your incredulity, i'll add that it's not the people, the architecture, the culture at all. As far as I can tell there are no people in Venice, only tourists! I was one of them. I don't think I saw a single Venetian whilst I was there. In short, I didn't like it because I don't like crowded places with no order (stadiums and music venues i'm fine with, shopping centres and crowded highstreets I can't bear), and there's nowhere to go in Venice but the canals!

San Diego people did hurt me, for many different reasons.

San Diego doesn't have people that emphasize with me, for if it did, i would meet them online. San Diego is a conservative area, and all its online users are conservative; put that together, there is no room for exceptions. But its not just the politics here that bugs me; the omnipresent conformity, it being the most conformist least diverse large city in America. Culturally, its very hot-headed, chauvinistic, sporty , and quite a handful of redneck stereotypes. Its a military community throughout the entire county, and virtually everybody, especially younger generations, worship it.

For the most party, San Diego is the stereotypical American community. Everybody here is the "American" stereotype and different types of people don't even exist here. The people here view it as universal to every "American", but actually this country has many different types of people; including the very people that hate and ridicule.

Even though the county has 3 million people, its about as diverse and exposed as a town with 3 thousand.

Dubai. The place may be based off tourism. But where's the history to back it up. It's like as if speaking in caveman tongue: Found black liquid. Make tall house. Bring others in. Collapse inself.

I thought the people in San Diego were friendly when I visited. It's a really nice city. The only problem is that cars get stolen and they don't come back from Mexico.

There's nothing wrong with being conservative.

Where I voted (I seen the sheet with my name on it and party affiliation), at least 2/3 of the page were registered Republicans, and there were as many AIP as Democrats, and not a single Green Party on there (don't remember if there is Libertarian). Alongside that, the voting place was full with yes on 8 signs, and they were all over houses, and even on bumperstickers. San Diego is a right-wing cesspool.

Who are you kidding, Duke?  You know darn well it's the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy just trying to put down our kind-hearted, perfect leftist hippie friend.

I have said before how I dislike Orlando. 2nd and 3rd place would probably be Las Vegas, then Detroit.

I can imagine San Diego being kind of alienating if you are a civilian and liberal. Likewise I don't know if i'd want to live in Salt Lake either.

Yes but right past the boundary there are usually forests of signs. Not a big deal to me though.

    Dubai.

But i must side with San Diego. San Diego is actually a very excellent city, and it does a good job of blending mexican culture with american culture. Its not san diegos fault you dont fit in, if you dont like it, move somewhere else.

san diego bad, because it is conservative, well look at the bright side..... at least its not all liberal 22.gif 29.gif lol anyway sounds like my kind of place!

my least favorite  in the USA, hmmm, jacksonville is uninspiring, but not the worst, san diego is boring, but not the wost, detroit and pitssburgh are dirty but not the worst, seatle is dreary but not the worst, thw worst would most definetly have to be LA. That urban sprawl is just... blahhh, all that traffic and smog and lack of skyline (i understand because of the quakes but...) it is just not one of my favorites at all!

my least favorite international city would have to be either something like jakarta or bagdad (spelled wrong) or madrid

Portland, Oregon. Beautiful town, great scenery, but the most messed up group of far-left anti-American burned-out meth-addicted hippies, neo-hippies, and junkies to be found anywhere. So many people who don't believe in bathing! The foul stench of the perenially-unwashed Green Party voters permeates the entire transit system and most public places.

They urinate anywhere publically, while panhandling. Able bodied teens beg for change while sitting in the middle of the sidewalk, because getting a job is 'conformist', or 'bending over for the man'. They even panhandle for drugs! They hold up cardboard signs that say "Got Weed?", or "I spange because work is for Republicans" (spange stands for 'spare change'). I actually had a teen panhandler say to me, "Spare some change so I don't have to sell your kid drugs?".

If you publically light a cigarette, they mob you looking for a free smoke. They don't even ask anymore, they just kind of gesture. It's the most insane, worthless place I have ever seen.

    Ok, my rant is over.

Let no one yield, we're on the field where deeds eclipse the sun; where the brave are told on a thread of gold, the tapestry is spun. As they speak of dreams, their armor gleams, this calm before the storm... Where all can see their destiny, the bishop takes the pawn.

    Damascus, Syria

Why? It is the ugliest of the existing ancient cities.

    Glasgow, Scotland.

Its built from disgusting prefab 70's concrete. Is entirely grey and manky.

As a bonus you'll also get stabbed for no reason other than the locals find it fun to do. They wont even rob you afterwards, just stab you multiple times and leave you. 5 people I KNOW (not in total) have been stabbed to death there, and 3 raped THIS year.
