We've been working over at 3RR [linkie] recently on a NAM puzzle-piece add in that will allow "no sidewalk" rural roads in the game with little more effort than a few mouse clicks.  Here's a couple of pics as to where this stands.

If anyone would like to try these out and post pics of their results in this thread, let me know.

I can't wait for that new NAM to be released. Those roads look amazing.

Here are a few from me. This first one is the intersection of SR 322 and Carter Rd. Carter is the one with the jog. The Amtrak train that you see is heading from Callahan City to Cadillac.

Fellows Creek begins in this pond along Hubert Rd. It flows along the expressway to the Cedar River.

These are just some generic farms and roads. You can see Fellows Creek in the corner.

David,

I like that country intersection with the stopsigns where two roads cross. While maybe I'm overly anal, I transition one of the roads (the lesser of the two) to streets to avoid having an in-game stoplight in the middle of nowhere. Not sure if the cars know the difference lol, but I go through the motions to make sure there are only 'stoplights' where I want them.

Thanks again for all the great work you've been doing to enhance our abilities create realistic rural areas in Sim City.

-Dan

Thought I'd stop by and show you the latest addition to the Rural Roads NAM plugin, which is out in beta, but not yet with this content.

I'm going to focus on the SAM Dirt Road Texture for a bit. If there's any interest in other SAM textures, they are not too hard to port in, as I'm making the work as modular as possible.

Always more detail on this stuff over in 3RR [linkie]. See you there.

That is one gorgeous scenic route dedgren. The farm, dirt road and creek all looks so natural and realistic.

    I'm the 'A' to the 'r', to the c-h-e-a-n,
and even though my name means 'old' I'm really quite pimp,

@Archean- Thanks for the kind words. Here's another, this time with the 4x4 90 degree wide radius curve I just completed.

    teaser09011904so5.jpg

@tahill79- Actually, the SAM and I both are using way old dirt road textures created by John (Pegasus). These curves will wind up as part of the NAM- they are in my Rural Roads plugin, but they are standalone and are not integrated into the SAM per se.
