I have created all of the disaster icons that will be in beta 3.  For now, there is no blocker on Lightning, and Fire.

Attached is the Disasters.DAT.

Whats left to do:

All "Heighten Terrain" icons

All "Lower Terrain" Icons

I have started on the "Heighten Terrain" icons, and will do the "Lower Terrain" Icons.

Just posting some progress, wish me luck!

Swat_Medic: First, see if you can color the tornado red, so it looks like a sandstorm.

    Fukuda and I are working on the tornado. He is in the process of coding a new particle system on the top to make it red.

    Also, I got the first part of the terraforming icons completed.

    Very Nice. Are you re-modding the whole tornado or just its appearance in the icon list?

    The entire tornado. It should, when its done, appear as a dust storm.

    Only problem is on the first picture.  I cannot find "Large Crater" in the examplars.  If anyone knows the Icon IID that would be great!

    Great, but I'd like to post a few suggestions OK? You can check out the disasters thread, I think it's in the project section. Fire was supposed to be an air leak so if you could color it grayish or something, that would great. Also you're showing space in the Quick Level Brush Photo. One more thing, crater and shallow valley look practically the same. I don't know about exemplars, so can't help you there. 3.gif

    Also Swat, would you be interested in looking into replacing the god (and Mayor) Mode trees with rocks - the featureless terrain is sometimes bleak and uninspiring. There are several rock props around STEX. We may need to consider working with some dependencies. Or we could all model one rock and start a collection.

    Did we ever decide what disasters were going to be included?  I say ALL.

    Gods shouldn't be limited by realistic possibilities when they pour out their wrath.

    Well I sort of decided that fire wouldn't really be possible on an oxygen-less planet. We can change the fire to something else, like timemaster said.. an Airleak.

    Rocks are definitely possible. If we can find the tree model the game uses, we can simply replace it with a rock model.

    I have isolated the tree icon into a single DAT to test with.

    Here is the 2 PNG files that I found in the SimMars UI DAT file.

    Now I just need a picture of a rock.  Any ideas anyone?

    I also don't know how to make rocks appear instead of trees.  This would require replacing of the Tree model, which I would have to search deeply for.

    Great, but you need to retake the Meteor, UFO, and Volcano from disasters, because there is blank space showing. Also retake quick level brush so that space isn't showing! Thank-you for the photos for Transit! Those look good!

    There shouldn't be a space showing, there is no space on mine.  I will work on the quick level brush, remember, its not the final product! 17.gif

    Is there anything else I should do before I move onto a new project?

    Awesome progress here! YAY!

    Red Tornado??? how cool would that be!!! Good luck!!!

    Regards the rocks there are actually two sets of red Mars rocks already, not sure if the models appear in Beta 2, also fukuda worked on a mod to replace the trees with the rocks but it had a bug that he couldnt fix before the Beta release so it wasnt included.

    My PC is still down but I hope to have it up running again this week and then I'll post these files.

    Maybe you can take the rock model as a reference for the tree png replacement

    If it would be possible to change the fire effect to some sort of air leak that would be awesome

    As a side note: it would be good if we can disable icons of whatever transportation we havent converted yet (thats not essential though)

    I meant you can see the abyss in the photos, so to make it look realistic maybe you should retake them. Andre: Heck, yeah, and so would an air leak! (Because you that instead of fire it's air leak & rapid decompression)

    That is my next project. I really need to do my homework on this one, it should take some time.

    I think I already have, without trying.. :\ It seems that since I changed the icons for the networks, the other icons in all menus went away.. (except for the highway)

    Wont removing those icons make it more difficult for new people to get their creations into the game?

    For one thing, you don't know what's missing if you can't see the empty menu item.

    Great work here, guys.

    I think an air leak could look like a lot of air flowing out, like smoke coming out of a factory but much faster and "smudgier". There should be some red dust swirling, and, if possible, add a bit of paper flying around.

    PS: Can you avoid posting images at imageshack or photobucket? My browser seems to be blocking them.

    SWAT, I went through ur files and one thing I noticed is that you must have used a different template for creating the icons than the way MAXIS icons look. I´m talking about the border effects (grey for "Selected" white for "hovering over" etc.)  

    Since you did the whole set of disasters and god-mode icons I thought it´s no proble to leave it. For the mayor mode ones u did I decided to re-do them because I thought it looked a bit odd to have the icons in different settings in the same menu.

    Here is a set of maxis icons (from the SimCity 4 fansite kit; these are not Rush Hour ones)(These have transparency!)

    If you sort them by instance ID, from highest to lowest, it should be somewhere

    between 1/2 and 3/4ths of the way down from the top.

    I know this might seem silly 3.gif But can't you add Ice too mars because there is ice on mars? (altho frozen CO2/Dry Ice) and Mars does infact have Oxygen. But very little (Enough for a fire like a campfire and a few trees). Rocks (because there is of course rocks on mars).
