Is there any way to have the steam train show up in the game.  all i ever see is the regular passenger train (it looks good because of a skin, but/...) i would like to take a picture of the train and on my computer the prtscn button doesn't work.

Well, you need the Rush Hour expansion pack first.

Then you need to build a freight station, and build plenty of industry.

As for taking a picture, If Print Screen isn't working, then you can use the in-game picture button, or the combo:

CTRL + Shift + S.

Post again if this doesn't work!

Well, i have the rush hour (deluxe) but the steam doesn't show up, only the fright train.  And i no about ctrl+shift+s.  it's just that in udi, i couldn't take a picture of it that way either.  Please help, THanks, jj

[Prtscr] key copies the screen to the clip board, then you need to paste the contents into an image editor.

Well, I have been playing on my favorite city for about 400 game years and I seen once or twice a sight of a steam train running on the tracks

Nob had a download on his page that enabled steam locomtives. Unfortunately this only worked for trains with 4 wagons, not for trains with 8 wagons. Evenmore Nob redesigned his page and I don't find the files anymore. If your japanese is good, you might give it a try.

I spend ten minutes on getting the link working. I didn't get it to work, though I linked pictures and sites before. But my IQ seems to be too low this time. Any computer scientist around (preferably Steve Jobs or Mr. Ballmer) to get this fixed?

Ok, go to NOB's site and download the train in the first column 4th from the top that says "SL" kinda in the middle, the series 42 train. That should be what you're looking for.

EDIT: I should probably add that the higher the number, the more modern the train skin.  For example, the 72 Series is like from the 60s or 70s, the 113 is a decade or two newer, and the 3950kei is like, modern.  The last download in the second column looks to be tram-style trains.  I could be wrong, though (I'm using a different set of skins from a different guy, and I haven't tested NOB's in game).  Happy downloading!

use the on screen keyboard if your having difficulty with your keyboard, although it might not work in full screen mode so you'd need to play windowed

for vista, Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Ease of Access -> On-Screen Keyboard

not sure about xp or any other OS, but the Start, All Progs, Accessories should work, then just look around from there and you'll find it

I did nothing special other than having a very heavily used train system, and after reading this post, I coincidentally saw this train and snapped this ingame pic, so I don't know.  I think maybe you just luck onto it.

As long as you have industry and a freight train station you should see one every once in a while.

I sometimes see steam engines with 4 and 8 cars, even though I have not downloaded any skins. I also have a frieght train station and plenty of heavy industrial zones.

Every so often you do get steam trains near industrial areas only from freight traffic. I definitely get them
