This is my first CJ and i hope it will be good. Comments and suggestions are welcome but keep them short, sweet, and nice. Now:

CRATER CITY

Crater City is named because the region is dotted with craters. It is a nice town with a population of 933 so far. The city is on an island under the shadow of Crater Mountain. It is a peaceful town that has a steady income and pretty much no crime.

SC41.jpg

As you can see it is a nice town with people still moving in. In the north is the Industrial Distict and down the road you see in the south-east is the Agricultural District.

The town has grown from 0-933 pop. in about 2 years (a little more actually). Now, here is a pic. of the geography of this area.

SC42.jpg

The geography is very interesting. Number 8 Isle is named so because it is shaped in a number 8. Crater Mt. because it is in a crater, and Three Islands Pass because there are three islands. The river where the named islands are is yet to be named and i have a poll about it.

This is the geography and an overview of the area. I might make an update later today but i will for sure tommorow. I hope you like it!

You have some interesting terrain to work with. I like the islands... looks quite promising.

Welcome to the world of CJs. As you progress, you may want to check out the ST Exchange for additional buildings and stuff to add to your cities.

Glad to see a new person here. Enjoy!

Welcome to the world of City Journals! Nice start and pirst pictures. I think you should listen to Schulmanators advice and look around stex echange to download some mods and custom content. As for the river I think it would be best if you make the decision on your own4.gif

                    Update 1.0!!! WOOHOO!

okay...so this is sort of an update and sort of an edit.

Crater City is rapidly progressing! Now, with a population of 1583, it is a true city. Now taking up quite a bit of the isle, Crater City will soon have its first bridge. There will be a poll on that. A soccer field was added along with tennis courts and a skatepark. The main reason for this post is a night shot.

    SC43.jpg

Isn't that pretty? Another farm was added. Also, the semi-large building in the south-east of the main city is Crater City High School! The soccer field in the east is home to the Crater City Fireballs who have made it to the the quarter-finals. The are playing the (this is a made up soccer team) Chicago Stars. I'll keep you posted on how they do.

                               Update 1.5!!!

As you an see i put this as update 1.5. i did this because update 1.0 was really small and all i wanted to do was add the night shot soooo...this is really update 1.0.

Crater City now has a population of 2307. The Crater City Fireballs won 3-2. Amazingly they were down 1-2 a tthe half but then scored 2 with 15 minutes left in the game. They will be playing the Los Angelos (also made up) Surfers. Crater City now takes up more than 1/2 of the island and should be building a bridge soon. The new addition of Waterfront Estates in the southern part of the isle has opened up some lots with a great view of Crater Mt. An avenue connects Waterfront Estates to Downtown Crater City. I am trying to get rid of dirty and manufacturing industries to get hi-tech by raising taxes and lowering them for hi-tech but it doesn't do anything. Now, for some pictures.

    SC44.jpg

In case you were wondering, this is Waterfront Estates. A bunch of houses with some jobs available in the area but, as you can see at the top, there is an avenue with almost no traffic leading to Downtown Crater City.

    SC45.jpg

Here is the current Downtown. As you can see,  there are some more houses toward the bottom left of the page and the Industrial District has definatly picked up some pace.

    SC46.jpg

And here is an aerial view of Crater City. In the south is Waterfront Estates. In the north is Downtown Crater City. In the east of Downtown is the Industrial District. And in the west is the Agricultural District. Pretty homey.

    SC47.jpg

And finally, a night shot. Isn't that jsut dazzling? Also, the poll is closed the winner is... I decide, and i decide... Settlement River (i voted for it in the poll anyway).

    Till next update!

Boy I sure hope erosion doesn't rear its ugly head and wash all those houses into the river!

Anyways, interesting start here, although the longer you leave the water and terrain textures stock, the more you'll see people harping over their colors. But hey, it's all your choice anyways! The avenues seem to be a bit overkill, but perhaps they're planned for future growth, right?9.gif

This is a great start! This is just a suggestion since you said the ave. had little traffic maybe consider changing them to roads. It would save money and if you need to change them back to ave. then do so. Anyway it looks great I myself think this is much better then I could ever do (without downloads).

                             Update 2.0!!!

Things are going great, sort of. Now, with a population of 8108, there are many things to build. I am in deep financial trouble. I need you guys to help me out but back to the CJ. I changed the avenue to a road like you guys said. Waterfront Estates is expanding quickly. Now, a new subdivision, East Meadows, has been made and is doing great. The island is almost complete and i have a new poll! Please vote quick! The Agricultural District is full and has no where to go. There are many problems with this island. The Insudtrial District is doing great though. Now, for a picture!

    SC49.jpg

Now, you may see a Landfill Island. Nest to it says '(attempt)'. that did NOT work out. Industrial District is pretty blurry so try your best to see it. Waterfront Estates and East Meadows are almsot the same size. Im thinking of merging them. What do you think?

    SC48.jpg

This is East Meadows when i just built it. Looks like many people are moving in!

    SC410.jpg

And here is East Meadows now. As i said, Crater City is in financial trouble and i  built a base to help out. At the top-left of the screen is actually the Industrial District, only the clear rectangle is East Meadows.

    SC411.jpg

Yuo can see some apartments here. This is just north-east of Industrial Distict.

And now for the big thing. Crater City has taken up pretty much all the island. Where to expand? Look at the letter of the picture and vote in the poll for where Crater City will expand!

    A.

    SC412.jpg

That is Waterfront Estates at the bottom. The bridge will be built from there.

    B.

    SC413.jpg

At the left is Downtown, in the center is Industrial District, and at the right is East Meadows. The bridge could be from either one of them.

    C.

    SC414.jpg

This the is western part of the isle. that is the Agricultural District on the right. i wouldn't go for this one though IMO.

Well, you saw the pictures. now, Vote, Vote, Vote!!!!!

    Till next update!

Thanks for taking my advice and like I said if you need to change the roads back to ave. then do so. The base was the best choice I think for helping with your finacial problem, it does create radiation at a small amount though. Anyway good luck and I can't wait to see your next update!

                         Update 3.0

This is part one of this update. i will edit this post and add on to it later today. Crater City has no flag or coat of arms. Crater City also voted that the whole region would become the country of Crateria (this CJ will probably cover other blocks once Crater City is done and if this CJ is popular)! Here is the flag and coat of arms.

    SC4flag.jpg

Okay... so the star is kind of bad... but nobody is perfect. The red stands for the Crater City Army (CCA). Remember the army base? The white stands for the Diplomatic Government (CCDG). And the blue for the river. The star and circle around it stands for the coments that made the craters and therefore making Crater City exist.

    SC4coatofarms.jpg

The two national animals are the brown bear and the lion. The dove stands for peace. The shovel for hardwork. The sword for The CCA. and the tree for the nature of the region. Pacis Prosperitas Vox stands for Peace Prosperity Power.

Now for the rest. The poll was a tie between B and I decide, but i voted for B so therefore B is the winner. A bridge has been built between the bunch of apartments (see update 2.0), over the island (see update 2.0 choice B), and then to the other side of Settlement River. Here is a picture.

    SC416.jpg

Nice bridge. It is high enough for ferries to pass but low enough so it doesn't stand out too much. There is a small lay out for a settlement across the bridge i have named Settlement Village. It is still part of Crater City, though. Here is a larger picture of the lay out.

    SC417.jpg

As you can see it is all empty except for a few commercial buildings. This is because residential and industrial is not wanted. I only played that for like 2 minutes though. Also, Crater City has a population of 8970 people. Some snotty people decided to build some mansions larger than my mayor house. Meanies32.gif26.gif7.gif

    SC415.jpg

Well, thats about it. Till next update!

                             Update 4.0!!!!!!!

WOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!! Update 4.0! Crater City now has a population of 11934. MORE THAN 10,000!

    SC4Population1.jpg

    Nice right?

    SC419.jpg

Crater City's water one day shut down because of pollution. Therefore, the pumps had to be replaced and a water treatment plant was built.

    SC420.jpg

Remember those snotty rich people? They went out for a swim. Meanies...26.gif32.gif7.gif

    SC418.jpg

I think they has a friend... Even though their friend lives in Waterfront Estates... Speaking of Waterfront Estates, they merged with East Meadows!

    SC422.jpg

Also, Settlement Village has filled up the lots and has expanded!

    SC423.jpg

Looks good. Right? Also, Crater City had its first fire...as a reslt of my carelessness...

    SC424.jpg

I drove a tank...and fired a missle. The neighboring building caught on fire, thankfully, the CCFD (Crater City Fire Department) got it taken care of.

    SC421.jpg

It looks like the neighborhood is pretty happy. My mayor popularity is about 78%. Here is the High School, the tennis courts, and the skatepark. If you look to the very top-right of the picture, there is a bus station. There is a newly implemented bus system that connects all parts of Crater City except Settlement Village. And now, i'd like to end the update with a magnificent night shot...

    SC425.jpg

But isn't that a nice picture. I think Crater City is going quite well!

    Till next update!

Just a suggestion... look into terraforming. It would make your city 100x better.

But otherwise, good work man. Better than I can do.

you may want to add a touch of realism by using one of the many embankment sets and the terrain leveler created by pg products. once you start using this method you'll never go back to digging your houses 20ft into the ground. This doesn't look very realistic at all.

                             Update 5.0!!!!!!

Crater City is beautiful. My financial problem is finally over! i now have a +400§ income! Crater City also now has 14031 people in it! Yey! I did use the Money Trees lot on the STEX for an extra boost on cash flow. Tehe9.gif. The city finally has some skyline with an area of tall apartments and condos.

    SC426.jpg

Actually, this area is special in 3 ways. 1. it is the area that likes the mayor the most. 2. It is one of the safest places in Crater City. 3. It is one of richest areas in Crater City. And here is a close up on the largest building  (non governmental) in Crater City, The Braccia Building:

    SC427.jpg

Now, i have 2 questions. 1. It says high wealth residential, but Crater City's pop. is only 14031. Why? and 2. how do i increase the rest of the citys intelligence? Also, there are some CO§§§ commercial services, printing and accounting:

    SC428.jpg

Same question, they are CO§§§! WHY???

Also, there have been many crashes on this street so it was torn down and made intro and avenue. Unfortunaatly, many apartments had to be torn down.

    SC429.jpg

And This is in Waterfront Estates. Also, Settlement Village is going quite well, many people are moving in.SC430.jpg

You can also see some apartments near the center. Now, i wanted to finsih this update up with an overview of Crater City. You can see to the western part of the residential area where the apartments and condos are.

    SC431.jpg

Thank you for all the support!

                                        Update 6.0!!!!!!!!!

The city of Crater City now has a population of 20396 sims!!!!! The city now has a clearly defined residential high-rise area.

    SC432.jpg

Ignore the no job signs. The industrial demand is down and there are still plenty of jobs. Lazy People. Anyway, the building you see at the very bottom, the blue-ish one, is currently the tallest build in Crater City. The semi-circular one toward the top-left of the area has the most capacity:

    SC433.jpg

Over a thousand. Also, Waterfront Estates is Growing at a relaxed pace.

    SC436.jpg

One of the first high-tech buildings was just built there:

    SC437.jpg

Also, recently build was Crater City University, thus completing the educational cycle of Elementary and Middle School, High School, College, and now University!

    SC435.jpg

And here is an Aerial View of Crater City. The college is in Settlement Village, the Highschool just north of the High-rise area, the middle school toward the center of Crater City, and the College north of East Meadows.

    SC438.jpg

Again, thank you for your support,

    Mr. Ican'tseemtobuildagoodcity,

    Till next update!
