I think that the ability to create realistic sunken networks is one of the most exciting features of the NAM - it's possible to make some really awesome stuff. I would love to see what people have created using the NAM + hole digger lots: underpasses, overpasses, sunken rail, highway, GLR - anything! Anyway in which you have creatively combined the NAM and hole digger lots – POST IT HERE!

Below is a little taste of what I have crafted recently using the NAM + hole digger lots in my latest city 'Hillary' - please let me know what you think!

Ooh, a 'show us your...' that I can post in!

That looks great PM.  It looks almost the same as some of my sunken highways in Calder City:

Sprowston.jpg

Westcityindest.jpg

Those pictures are quite old now, but this one's new!  I've been experimenting with RHW, and I made this part sunken interchange!

FAR-FARR1-800.jpg

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the rail you can see in this pic was made with the Fractional Angle Rail Road (FARR) pieces being developed at 3RR, which are coming soon!

Older pics again:

The most recent picture of the city which has extensive sunken highways.  The highway in this city tile is entirely sunken:

These were already uplpaded to Photobucket... that's why there's so many!

I'm not much of a "sinker" myself, but I have a few sunken creations to share.

Click the images for full resolution!  (1920x1200)

I have really only built one dedicated sunken highway, the rest are either at the ground or elevated level.

Beforehand:

During construction:

Thanks Craig, and thanks Jamezz_2005 for showing your example! They look great! I especially like the ped bridges. I think i'll have to get round to installing those myself one day!

Here is on of my sunken highway interchanges. It will be in the central part of my city. As you can see, I have only started and the highway isn't finished

P.S If this image is in to big of a resolution or it show up as a hyperlink, please excuse me as i am a total novice at photobucket!

Some very cool use of the NAM puzzle pieces. Whenever I try something like that it ends up looking terrible...

@jamezz_2005: Any chance you could post a link to that grey road mod? I've searched, and come up empty.

Many thanks for the positive feedback everyone! Pics are looking great - glad to see lots of support for this thread so far!

psander5: thanks for the feedback! I agree, the ped bridges work very nicely with a sunken network, expecially when combined with PEG's Trail Park and Randon Woods.

HunterIrked: the link for the grey road texture mod can be found here. I think these textures look much better than the orginal black road textures, although a few of the newer NAM pieces (mainly GLR in ave) will remain black - am hoping I can fix this myself, but need someone to tell me how to edit NAM textures!

thinboy66; Muck308: cheers for the feedback!

Nice Owaen, where did you find that sunken trainstatio? Also, does anyone know where i could find a station that can be build at road level for tracks build on an embankment? (that is, if you use the ground lifter, build tracks on top, and want a station where the tracks run above so the tracks are equal to the enbankment)

Thanks for the comments, my ego always thrives with praise 9.gif

I found the train station on a Japanese site made by Tsushi Nikai.

It can be found on the STEX, (Sunkun Rail Station) by user tadasu.

https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=20059

Or you can download from his site.

http://tadasu29.sakura.ne.jp

Look under Modern Style.

He(?) has some other interesting stuff to download.

(Why cant I use the insert/edit link in the reply window ???)

The first is specific for sunken highway onramps and off ramps, the scond is a more complete tutorial. Hope to see your sunken networks when you've completed them!
