<snip>

Some really nice images you have. Feel that we share some similar development ideas. Good usage of some MMPs as well.

If I could give some advice, I would suggest minimizing the menu prior to taking the picture. Just select that little white square box in the bottom left hand corner of the screen/menu.

Plus, the yellow pause frame is also very distracting. 2 ways to go about removing that.

1. There is a mod that removes the frame when the game is paused.

or

2. Don't pause the game and use the "Print Screen" button (PCs only) to capture the image. Then use MS Paint (any image editing program) to "paste" the image in. Using the latter method also allows you to do any bit of photo editing (crop, filters, etc). Usually you'll have to store them on one of the many free photo storage sites available around the net. Then just post the image link in the body of your post.

Having those there really distracts from the beauty of the images.

Post more pics of your city's though, I'd like to see more. Probably best using the appropriate threads of course.

These are images of the smallest town I currently have in any of my regions:

xw5h.jpg

Delano is a town of only 224 residents centered on where a road meets a railroad's short segment between two tunnels.  Almost the entire town can be seen in this view.  Although currently a tiny crossroads town, Delano is starting to feel development pressure from neighboring towns.

9eta.jpg

Delano's most notable feature is the monument Liberty Triumphant, which is outsized for such a tiny town.

The Delano Catfish Farm is the town's largest employer, located at one corner of the town.

I like the idea of a small, valley town, and I think the idea of having the railway briefly break out of the tunnel only to disappear straight back in is a cool one. However, I think you could improve the quality of your work by using a slope mod (just search it on the STex and you'll find plenty!), which will solve the issue of your bumpy roads, and also to use single clicks of the road tool to level terrain in certain areas (especially around ploppables to stop them showing that ugly retaining wall).

Hope this helps :)

Spoderman, pls.

Was thinking the exact same thing before I read the blurb. It's crazy big! but that's not a bad thing. Makes for a possible interesting back story.

I second that notion.

Thought it was risky installing a slope mod on an already developed city?

I also second this notion. Something about the dirt road leading to the entrance against the retaining wall looks a bit out of place.

Perhaps, but I think it would be beneficial for all his future work. While it is difficult to retrofit slope mods (if that's the right word), judging by the size of the town it wouldn't take long to simply demolish it and rebuild it, providing he keeps some screenshots of the original to base the new version from :)

Did I just kill the grid?

I don't know if I classify this as a small town or a suburb, because there are no farm lands visible. But its population is 2,000+, and no major city bordering this town. So most likely, this is still a small town... :whatevs:

Riverbend is home to just under 1000 people.

Really nice mosaic  :thumb:   My only critique would be the Maxis C buildings in the town. It would have been really nice to see some unique town like buildings, maybe even a couple small W2W buildings.

Just found these the other day that give a good example of what I'm speaking of.

Little French Bakery

The Eastern Delight

Small Store

Yup

Nice work.

Approximately 3,900 residents. I was inspired by the concept of small highway towns in Texas but I wanted it to look more southern, I visited Nashville and Atlanta and the woods out there are so beautiful and I wanted to incorporate that into this town. This is also the first time I am moving away from using the maxis highway and gravitating more towards the RHW.

This is a small mountain town that sits on the edge of the region. There are about 460 Sims living here, mostly fishers and hunters. The idea for this town being in a forested setting and on a two lane highway was somewhat inspired by Butte Falls, Oregon.

This is one of my towns, Lake Klein, soon to be taken over by suburban sprawl and become just another suburb.

3oj1.jpg

I like to start my suburbs as small town to give them a sense of history since a number of real world suburbs were once small towns themselves.  I just let urban sprawl take over.

An aerial of the city, I may not be able to consider this a small town anymore coming up in the near future. still a WIP.

@clhigh7 That is gorgeous man 100%. How much lotting there is done by you? Teach me your ways :P

On those pictures I have to give 100% credit to the artists who made them! Those early  19th century homes are so tastefully done that it would be criminal of me to mess with those lots.

I have done some lotting though on some of simgoober's awesome models

Millicent-Aug23641381604028_zps7b6cd638.

I combined these two because I felt the stucco trim on the drug store matched the stucco on the strip center(same town)

Millicent-May28281381450592_zps79af70e6.

I redid the lots on these homes to create a more uniform look that the POA would approve of (same town)

Millicent-Dec171611383256323_zps6b45e414

I did the same on these. (same town once again)

Other than that, I can't take much credit for the lotting.

Very nice work! It reminds me of Lincoln, CA. Have you considered adding some highway walls behind the houses in the last picture?

Thanks! I haven't thought about adding sound walls. I have considered editing all the lots on that particular road in the neighborhood to have wooden privacy fences rather than black iron fences. My intention was to create a nature barrier between the neighborhood and the highway with the dense woods, I could probably add some more trees. I'm waiting for soundwalls that have invisible base textures :/
