I'm Building An Industrial City, And I'm About To Start Work on my main work center, and need an opinion on what intersection to use.

Here's My Intersection Site:

Images must be 800x600, as per site rules.--hym

Sorry About the bad pic.

Anyway, It will be an Eight- lane RHW Intersecting a 4-lane RHW. Four Directions.

Any Suggestions of a design?

Perhaps you should check out the intersections thread for some ideas, someone like Haljackey will probably already have one made for this situation, if not he would probably make one.

the easy way to do that is convert the highways to the maxis standard ones and add a T-interchange. Other than that all I can suggest is to check out the "show us your interchanges" thread

... and a lot of experimenting.

I'd suggest using the intersection parts of the RHW together with the elevated (oneway)road puzzlepieces. would turn out best I think, and please keep your fingers off the standard highway. it would screw it up. I swear!

you'll find many inspirational pictures at the "show us your interchanges" thread and consider a look at real life pictures of course (google maps, although live maps would be better for they have birds-eye pics)

Ah I see you have started a thread to ask the question.

I now know that you are trying to make a 4-way interchange, so T-junctions or trumpet interchanges will not do the trick for you.

My best suggestion to you would to be to create a cloverleaf or cloverstack interchange.  The easiest way to build one is to plop a ground highway cloverleaf but that would look horrible.  You can make some cool looking cloverleafs or cloverstacks with the Modular Interchange System that comes with the RHW.

Some good examples of those are found in the "Show Us Your Interchanges!" thread as many have already suggested.

Here is an example of a cloverstack that I made.  It might be a bit too big for your setting (mine's in a rural area, you said yours is in an industrial area).  Even so, this example may give you some inspiration to build your own custom interchange.

    My suggestions:

    1) Cloverstack, or Cloverstack variant.
    2) Volleyball Interchange
    3) Three Level Stacked Roundabout with transfer for outer lanes
    4) Turbine
    5) Turbine with One Loop Ramp

If you wish to know what these are, look them up on Google, or check out the Show Us Your Interchanges! thread or my own Patrician Showcase.

Ok, Here's My Final Intersection: Images must be 800x600, as per site rules.--hym

I think it's a volleyball variant... Feel free to post any problems you see with it.

That volleyball variant looks good. On the north-south road, you need to replace those RHW-2 splitters with a MIS-B ramp piece, as the inside ramps are going the wrong direction. Other than that, it looks like a good interchange.

Ok, Here's what you meant, isn't it, PatMax?

    IntersectionVeryDone.jpg

Maybe I'll add this to "Show Us Your Interchanges".

That looks nice, but its not totally complete. 1) East/West- heading west on outer lane you cant go south. 2) East/West - heading east on outer lane you cant go north. I dont know if you meant it to be like that, thought you may have missed it so I wanted to point it out.

The stated problem can be easily solved by a pair of collector/express transfers preceding the interchange. Katchilla, look at my own Patrician Showcase for a few examples.

    Thanks, Hal.

Does anyone know a way to fix the problem Cheeseman pointed out?

    EDIT: Like PM suggested?
