    Hey, BuddyBud

There you go, making me drool on my keyboard again!

Your under bridge pieces are coming along just great!  I REALLY like the looks of them -- both under bridge and up embankments.  This is really going to bring so much versitality and possibilities into SC4.

Thank you for developing these and I certainly look forward to using them when you release them!

    Great work!

    Regards,

    Vandy

First, this is very nice. I love the lots.

Second, you had a land-bridge tutorial where you mentioned using the rain tool in the extra god-mode tools mod to create rain in a depression. I installed that mod, but for the life of me I can't find anything that adds rain. Am I missing something?

ya...you need to reenter god mode by hitting lctrl lshift   lalt then the terrain editor button thingy..this is considered a cheat so its not officially documented..when in god mode you will find it in the terrain menu

Amazing work (the lots and the city layout). I always hated that the room under bridges, elevated rail and highways looked so unrealisticly empty but I never did anything to change that. It's great that someone finally put effort in that.

    Your cities really look great...

I actually do the shift alt ctrl click on the god mode button thing and all it has is four new tools for making earthquake faults, sinkholes, etc, but no rain. Maybe they took it out since you downloaded it. Oh well.

Sweet, Buddybud. Thanks. I'll try that out asap. And again, nice job on this thread. I really like your el-train and NAM under-road addon effects. Are you planning on putting any of them out for public use, or are any already out?

Buddybud, you should seriously consider writing an article to put in the Simtopolis Omnibus . Your tutorials have really helped me build cities like this. Keep up the awesome work!

well after great kaos and carnage im back at it....my initial compulsion to make a single prop for each nam interchange with varying degrees of width became tedious and the lods didnt like it.....i struggled..then ditched this approach22.gif

    offcenter3.jpg

however the second approach was a real winner and more verisitile...the idea is to make a prop for each side of the interchange....that way you can use the same two props for all of them...just have different lots with the props spaced appropriatly....this way they can also be easily adjusted to accomodate the custom roads i here rumors about...44.gif

anyways all the intersections below were done with two props and four lots.....(ive got to adjust the colour slightly)
    newestnewt02.jpg
for all the pieces including highways and a brown texture for rail.....9 props and 9 lots...may be less

edit    newyorkrunaway.....yes yes....want to finish them first
mayorace...no offence but its all in the thread....
             trixin....ya...in the future...after i finish these..sure
and thanx jacqulina for the short inciteful interchanges...lol....always welcome40.gif

    Good idea!
You can find many parking lots under bridge, it can be an idea to put on the STEX...maybe...

ah mayorace....YES it is....everything ive done ive pretty much documented in the last three pages of this thread...

a....everybody keeps asking are you going to release these.....   because.....get this...i havent
b....right above the tutorial on the second page....is a full explanation of what these lots are.....overhanging props i created in BAT...

thats it thats all......they WILL be released when i am happy with them....thanx for the interest...read the stuff between the pictures22.gif

edit...long day at work.....its a matter of learning the basics of BAT.....Renderings models off center.....thats really it...this stuff is nothing new....its just no one else seemed to of thought to use it this way......try using a marrast embankment underbridge piece.....you can rotate it under bridges, nam pieces, and ANYTHING else....thats all that marrast bridge piece is...its a overhanging prop...thats what im doing

no its not....  listen, I am new to BAT myself, but how did you get the props and textures from SimCity?  Is there an importorer or exporter?  and if so where did you get it?  That's what I been asking the whole time... :/

lol....to get the textures i opened up lot editor....made an empty lot...loaded the lot texture i wanted....pressed print screen...went into adobe photo....pasted picture...adjusted with curves....(gmax adobe calibration tutorial).....then saved and used in gmax....

there are some mod tools that allow you to extract the textures...youll have to check that out elsewhere..

as for props....ive made most of this stuff....earlier i was using a avenue barrier from rush hour(i think) besides that i made my own...looky here

    yes%20yes%20ahh%20yes.jpg

...all i can offer you is do the box tutorial in the list of tutorials...and the lod one...

edit.. there are tools to export textures..and it is possible to add textures...it is not possible to export props...as far as i know...

theres a big portion of this forum devoted to learning bat and other modding tools....i suggest you start there since i am no teacher...you will see quickly that what im doing involves no magic (except the fact that it hasnt been done til now2.gif)....bat, plugin manager, lot editor, nam, i reader and leprop....thats all i use...i ve only learned enough from each program to do what im doing....so i cant tell ya much...cept this...

im not hiding anything from ya35.gif

if you look at the starting date of this thread till now its been a bit over a month...thats how long it took me from being clueless about the workings of a lot....to this point....
