Wow....horrible. I would NOT want to live there, that's for sure.

You did a good job on portraying the awfulness, and the interchange that was intended to be good actually was good.

Interesting custom interchanges and explanations of the JCT of Grant Ave. and Rte. 24. Never good when even good ideas in theory are not properly vetted as with the completion of the Grant Ave/Rte. 24 interchange.

Good job making Sharon look so dilaputated.

Hi guys, thanks to all for your comments regarding the hellhole Sharon, personal replies will come at the next full update.

Right now I just want to show you guys a project I have been working on. In sharp contrast to Sharon, I have been working on a luxurious surburan city named Four Palms. Here's a little teaser of what you can look forward to in the city of Four Palms.

    Ooh, cool!

But keep in mind that suburban residents wanted to get away from those high-capacity roads in the first place. Also, have you downloaded jeronij's Transparent Ploppable Water?

Hey Selles, sorry for missing your last couple updates. Ill start with update 27 with your transportatoin map of Wellwood. I would just like to say that I am still amazed at those style maps that you create!!! The road layout seems to be very well planned, and the google maps style really adds to the detail!!! On to Sharon.... wow you have definatly done a nice job at making it well... awful (I think thats a compliment2.gif)!!! The ghetto feeling is very well captured and is very realistic!!! I like the artistic type buildings that you added to the downtown area, you do tend to find those in the not so nice areas!!! As for the teaser.... well you definatly got me hooked!!!! Lookin forward to the update!!!

edmonton_stinks: Thanks. I agree with you about the blackened buildings. It's not like people paint their houses black before the leave.

    jacqulina: Thank you!

jonpaulosiglos: The decline is pretty sad. It's unfortunate that the residents of Sharon are so poor that they can't afford to leave the island. They will have to find jobs as some sort of manual labour. Maybe the can find work in the vast agricultural areas as farm hands.

Raysfan16: Indeed it is a horrible place to live! Which is what I was planning... *evil grin* That interchange doesn't look so bad, but it actually backs up the traffic more than the original intersection. In fact, a lot of the abandonment you see in the rest of the pictures is because the interchanged raised commute times.

GreekMan: It IS a horrible place to live. But every country has one of those cities... right?

dfnva: Thanks for the compliment. I'm guessing all the particulates and other pollution coming from the coal plants contributes to the city's terrible urban planning. Extreme air pollution has been attributed to lowered IQ levels.

    fordguy5: Thanks!

Servan: Thanks. I'm glad I could be of some help!

Raysfan16: Yeah, these residents have not thought that far ahead. Right now their in the idealistic phase of wanting to live in a country setting within the city limits. Realistically though, the suburbs are NOT an ideal place to live! As for jeronij's transparent ploppable water, I don't have it. I was trying to look for it but I couldn't find it anywhere.

ozdaniel: I downloaded it a loooong time ago. I can't remember where I got it from though, I think it was some obscure Japanese Bat site.

    danielcote: Thanks buddy!

Hawkeye9: Not a problem! We're all busy with RL right? I'm glad you liked the transportation map of Wellwood. Hopefully you can see how well it maps out to the actual city in today's update. As for Sharon, indeed I do take that as a compliment. Not every city can be perfect right? I hope you enjoy today's update.

    jonpaulosiglos: Thanks a lot!

TmiguelT: Hahaha, thank you. As I was saying earlier, not every city is perfect.

    Update 29

Today's update will feature the city of Wellwood. Since we last visited Wellwood, the city has grown considerably. Wellwood has taken over Fortune City as the largest city in the province. As you can see from the comparison of the old and new pictures, downtown is considerably more dense.

Wow outstanding update!!! This area reminds me alot of a community that I live near called Pacific Beach. Here is a picture that I kinda think shows the resemblence between Wellwood and this community. They are not exact (of course) but I really got the feeling of the this area when I looked at these pictures!!! Awsome job at creating a beach community for shure!!! I also really like your downtown aswell, and the road layout did not disapoint!!! Like I said awsome update and lookin forward to more!!!

WOW! some update selles. It is quite lovely and I WOULD live there! downtown looks great and just like hawkeye said it does look like PB. Where did you get the tall round tower and the blue tower with the H on it in downtown? Quite frankly i was somewhat getting bored with the small towns and nature but this update with some tall buildings made my day!

Benedict: Thanks for your reply. I got the idea for those islands from the Newport Beach area.

Hawkeye9: Thank you so much for your comment. I agree with you that the peninsula area looks like Pacific Beach. I was actually using Newport Beach as inspiration for it, which is also similar to Pacific Beach.

    danielcote: Thanks!

rjkrox: Thanks for your comment. I do base most of my downtown areas after Western Canadian cities.

GreekMan: Thanks buddy! The tall blue building with the H on the roof is one of the Eastland Grand buildings. Just search the STEX for Eastland Grand and it should come up. I would suggest downloading all of them because they are one of my favourites from the STEX. I don't remember what the tall round building is, but I think it's one of Cobb's growable residentials.

jacqulina: Thank you for your reply.

    TMiguelT: Thank you!

    Teeparex: Thank you so much.

De Ja Vu: Thanks for the comment!

    CJ Status

Just a quick update on the status of the CJ. I will be taking roughly 6 to 8 weeks off from this CJ, but don't worry it will continue after the break. I am visiting my girlfriend in southern California, and I will be away from SimCity for the time being. I still have an internet connection, so I will still be able to login and check other CJs, but feel free to PM me if you would like to stay in touch.

Thank you so much for all your support throughout this CJ. Don't fear, I will return!

    Update 30

I am finally home after a long and well deserved vacation. I had some projects on the go when I left so I thought I would include some pictures of what I was working on. It's been a while since I visited Fortune City, so I decided to spend some time and work on making it worthy of being the capital of Fortune. Without further delay, I present to you Fortune City.

Just in case some of you have not read the history of Fortune, it might help you understand this update. The history of Fortune can be found in the first page of this CJ.

Fortune City has a rich history. When the British held claim to the island of Fortune, they were embarrassed by its history and by the legacy Martin Frobisher's left behind. However, when Fortune joined Canadian confederacy, the residents became proud of their heritage. I want to start off this update with the oldest part of Fortune City, which was once called Frobisher

frobisher_u01.jpgThis is the downtown area of the old city of Frobisher, and while the city was renamed Fortune City, this district is still referred to as Frobisher. Some of the buildings in this area are over 400 years old. This area has been converted to the Frobisher University campus. In 1883 a fire ripped through the campus area destroying the development towards the top left of this picture. Two dorm buildings across the street from the large cathedral also burned to the ground killing 18 students. The scars of the old buildings can still be seen and are preserved as a memorial to those who died.

This golden statue is a portrait of Frobisher, and is known as the Frobisher Memorial. As mentioned earlier, the British Government was ashamed of Fortune's history, but the residents of Fortune have embraced Frobisher as a hero.

    frobisher_memorial.jpg

This is the Frobisher House. This was Frobisher's permanent residence until he died in 1597. After he died, the house was reserved for visiting royalty. After Fortune joined Canadian confederacy in 1967, the house started being used as the residence of Fortune's Premier.

    frobisherhouse_01.jpg

Here is an overview of the Fortune Legislature and the Sailor's Memorial which stretches to the background. The Fortune Legislature is the administrative building of the province of Fortune. The Sailor's Memorial is a tribute to those who died after Frobisher's boat sank off the coast of Fortune.

    fortune_legislature02.jpg

    mosaic1.jpg

    mosaic2.jpg

    mosaic3.jpg

These are important buildings in Fortune City. The stock market building, the museum and the courthouse are still being used, but with Fortune City's rapid growth, the city's administration offices needed a larger space. The old city hall is now preserved as a historical landmark.

    old_civic_buildings.jpg

The new city hall offers more office space for the municipal government to run their business.

    cityhall_01.jpg

Lets take a moment to look at Fortune City's downtown core area.

    downtown01.jpg

    downtown02.jpg

    downtown03.jpg

    downtown04.jpg

In the last picture you can see the City Place Park, which is Fortune City's largest urban park. Here is a closeup. As you can see, there are many walking trails. City Place Park offers a breath of fresh air and some nice sight seeing right in downtown Fortune City.

    citypark01.jpg

There are many condos which line the park. The property values are through the roof for these expensive condos.

The Bankers Plaza offers the finest stores in Fortune City's downtown shopping.

    bankersplaza01.jpg

    bankersplaza02.jpg

The island of Fortune offers fair weather all-year round, and as a result, the residents have embraced the game of baseball. Introducing the oldest ballpark in all of Fortune, the home of the Fortune City Gold Miners, the Gold Mine at Fortune City.

    ballpark01.jpg

On game days, many of the streets around the Gold Mine are shut down and vendors open up shop selling everything from Gold Miners memorabilia to hotdogs to beer and wine. Game day is always a party in Fortune City.

Here are the logos and jerseys for the Fortune City Gold Miners.

    FCGoldMiners.jpg

    Jerseys.jpg

Don't bother driving your car, you won't find many parking spaces near the Gold Mine. Instead, feel free to take the train. Fortune City's busiest train station is centred around the ballpark.

    ballpark03.jpg

Beyond the Gold Mine, the trains enter underground and continue to the Central Station  in downtown Fortune City. From the Central Station you can transfer to a number of subway lines.

    ballpark04.jpg

    ballpark05.jpg

    ballpark02.jpg

I hope you have enjoyed your tour of Fortune City.

    hey selles welcome back!

wow great looking city! i love the area near thhe stadium and the row houses!

Great but you need to fill in all those green spaces!

PS: i would suggest a better transition between downtown and the surrounding area. those two black towers should have a mid sized building to the left.

just a suggestion! keep it up
