OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You REALLY don't know how looong I've been waiting to see your gorgeous work. You were my inspiration to play Simcity 4 and still are. I first got inspired when I saw your regional pic on the "Show us your suburbs!" thread. It is just the most awesome pic I have ever seen. You are the person that inspired me to develop suburbs instead of high rises. It would mean the world to me if you could check out my cj and give me some constructive criticism about it. This is (obviously) a great cj and I really really really look forward to more.

I hadn't ever commented because I started being super busy at school the exact date in which you posted this cj (23/9/08) so never noticed it.

Ok, so I've just spent a few months without an internet connection. Bad news: I couldn't update any of you with my progress with this city. Good news: I still worked on the region, and I am now ready to present you with updates.

Right now I won't overwhelm you all with too many pictures, so for now I will just show you the updated region shot.

    Fortune_st.jpg

Let me know what areas of the the region you would like to see first and I will post pictures from that area.

wow first thing that comes to mind is awesome region and a hell of a lot of farms second thing is that your suburb expansion needs to be way bigger to have a city of that size. (looking at page 1)

in green valley i like some of your streets and stuff very realistic and looks nice.your industry not so realistic. your golf course is pretty cool and same with your airport

so overall a quite nice city.

    Replies!!!

So I missed a lot of comments in the last few months, so here are my replies:

Jacky: As always, thanks for dropping by.

Art128 & roboo1: Thanks guys. I've spent my share of time flying, so I get inspiration from all the airports I've been to.

Twenty20: Thanks. You know when I first started working on Green Valley, there were no mountains around. I ended up terraforming the mountains around Green Valley in order for the city to stand up to its name.

yunxiang: I agree with you about the density transition. About the airplane lots, if you search ACE in the STEX, you should find a bunch of wonderful airport lots. I think that's where I got them from.

Godzillaman: Thanks. I personally find that making realistic industrial areas is the hardest part of making a city.

GreekMan: Thanks buddy! I'm not sure what's the deal with the links to the large images because it's working for me. Any ideas on where I can find a good host who will allow me to upload huge images? Also, the region map I made from scratch using SC4 Terraformer. Ever now and then I'll add more regions to the right and left and I terraform them to match the surrounding area. I like having a coastline along the left and top borders of the region, to avoid having that border  that prohibits further expantion to the Northwest.

rainyday: As I was saying to yunxiang, if you search ACE in the STEX, you will find a bunch of airport lots.

manubeas: Thanks man, that's really flattering. As for your region, it looks really good! You do a good job with the transition from downtown to the suburbs. Keep up the good work!

    Petrovar: Thanks!

spore415: Thanks. The farms are very tedious to make, but when I lose inspiration on building cities developing rural areas is a nice change. When I develop new cities, I like to start off by turning the farms into urban areas. That way the city is always surrounded by a rural environment.

danielcote: Thanks for showing your interest!

    SirUnger: Thanks for the comment.

fabsies55: I'm glad you like my region.

princeodesert: Thanks for the comment. I'm not too familiar with Metro Vancouver, but I'm glad you like!

    Tomasneto: Thanks man!

    Update 9

    wellwood_banner.jpg

Today's update will feature my newest city of Wellwood. Wellwood is situated along the northern coast of Fortune.

Here is a picture of downtown Wellwood.

    downtown01.jpg

This is a view of Williams park. Williams park is a nice retreat for those Sims who work in downtown.  The historical part of the city is located to the south of Willams Park. Most of the modern buildings in Wellwood have been built on the north side of Williams park.

    dtpark01.jpg

And another vantage point of Williams park.

    dtshopping01.jpg

The tall modern building is called the Madison Tower. The Madison Tower includes features underground parking as well as retail shopping in the first two floors.

Wellwood City Hall is surrounded by McCartney Park. McCartney Park is the oldest park in Wellwood.

    cityhall01.jpg

Here's a closeup of City Hall and McCartney Park.

    cityhallmosaic1.jpg

    cityhallmosaic2.jpg

Outside of downtown, Wellwood 's development is mostly low density urban sprawl.

    urabnsprawl01.jpg

    urabnsprawl02.jpg

The wealthiest of Wellwood's residents prefer to live closer to the ocean.

    ritz01.jpg

That wraps up update 9. I plan on working  a little more on the northern coastline, so I plan to include more pictures of the beach in the next update. I hope you enjoyed this update!

Wow, what a formidable region. I love the transportation network. The suburban developments look spectacular. I especialy like the settlement in the south east part of your region, any close ups of that one?

Very enthusiastic realism in this region! The agriculture areas make the region look amazing. I like how you have smaller high density comercial areas rather than just huge areas of sky-scrapers. Definitly one of the best city designs I have seen.

    ~NICE WORK~

GreekMan: I visited your CJ, damn it's impressive. Thanks for dropping by.

fordguy5: Thanks for the comments! As for that settlement in the south east of the region, I actually had a friend of mine build it for me. I did some minor additions for detail and aesthetics, but he made the most of it. I'll be sure to post some close ups some time soon.

    danielcote: Thanks man!

    fabsies55: Thanks for the comment.

PhilsCafe: Wow, thanks for the comment. All the landscapes were terraformed by hand on SC4 Terraformer, so it's good to know that it turned out well.

    Update

Ok some big news, and by big I mean bad. So I separated my right shoulder playing hockey this weekend (and of course, I'm right handed). Having said that, I'm sure playing SC4 and updating this CJ will be painful and difficult. For the mean time I might just take some pictures of areas I've already developed but haven't showcased. As for now, I'll leave you with 7 random pictures from my region shots.

Wow, this is amazing... I love the layout of your suburbs, they fit in well with the large plains. I also like the terraforming along the shores very much, looks very natural. Great jobs with placing the farmlands too!

PhilsCafe: Well thank you. It's good to know that all my hardwork is worthwhile.

    Update 11

Here is the town of Clermont. My friend designed this city for me. I only tweaked it to add aesthetics, and to make it fit to my city building style.

It's quite difficult to type with my injured shoulder, so don't expect to much description...

    region05.jpg

As of now, Clermont is the only development in the southeast of Fortune.

Here is an overview of the city.

    southwest03.jpg

Here are some pictures of downtown Clermont.

The agriculture industry is very important for the town of Clermont

    grain01.jpg

Manufacturing also plays a roll in the economy.

    southindustrial01.jpg

And here are some pictures of the residential areas.

And lastly, what's a successful town without a cluster of big box stores.

    boxstores01.jpg

I hope you all enjoyed the town of Clermont.
