Game shutting off

My game has recently been turning off by itself. I have heard of this before, but have never had a problem with it. Within a span of thirty minutes it shutoff three times.  I haven't downloaded anything into my plugins in awhile so I'm not sure what the problem is. Any ideas?

Thanks,

wsperos

If you've downloaded nothing, then either you have a hardware problem developing or you've grown your cities such that the number of files or the video (most likely.. or memory) has exceded the capability of your pc

I've seen it CTD on new systems with a clean install. I've learned to just accept it and save often. 4.gif

wsperos...

Does the game quit on any city or just larger, more developed ones. You might want to give your system specs. There could be a couple work arounds depending on what you have and maybe get a more definite answer.

Try this: Go to your conrol pamel- performance and maintainence and select free up space on your hard disc.

The game was shutting of on a new city I was developing, so there really wasn't a whole lot going on. It had about 70,000 sims in a small area. Thanks anyways.

Even if you haven't downloaded anything in a while, it's still possible that you have a corrupted plugin file that has started to develop in your cities where it has not before. This exact thing happened to me. If you have space on your hard disc, then this is indeed the most likely culprit.

This is what I did to narrow down which plugin was causing my crashes...

Split create a new folder somewhere (such as on your desktop), just NOT in the plugins folder) and put HALF of your plugins files into that folder.

Load your city that is having crashing problems and turn the speed up. Do something else for about 10-20 minutes, or until the game crashes. If the game does not crash, then you have already removed the faulty plugin.

Go to your "new folder" and drag half of the plugins back into your plugins folder. Make sure they are organized in a way that you know exactly what you just moved back, perhaps by making a new folder in the plugins folder. Start the game again and see if it crashes.

If it crashes this time, then one of the plugins you moved back is causing the error. If there are a lot of plugins that you moved, take half of them out of that plugins folder and put them back in your test folder, while taking everything in your test folder and putting that back into your plugins folder.

It's an annoying system of elimination but it's really the only approach you can take if you want to keep all of your plugins.
