Realistic Sunken Highway Ramps

It's been two years since the sunken highway onramp/offramp tutorial was posted, and although it's still perfectly functional, I was wondering if there are as yet any pretty alternatives to this:

I don't mind the ramps so much, but the highway transitioning to a one way transitioning to the highway is yeesh.  For my purposes, I'd much rather have something pretty, functional, and non-Rural Highway-ish.

Any recommendations?  9.gif

There are no such options in the Custom Interchanges selection. There's something similar to what you're describing in the Overpass/Perpendicular Ramp menu, but the avenue takes the form of an overpass rather than a a bridge, and resultantly it doesn't look very natural over a sunken trench.

Had the wrong menu item in my first post...

Check the next to the last menu item in the Highway menu (Single-Sided Parallel Ramps)

Here's an example of it's use...

Note: Ignore the highway textures - I've got a mod installed.

    Hope this helps...

Yes the new NAM ramps have really improved the look of sunken highways.

Here's a very basic shot of some of mine, theres a ramp near the start of the sunken portion that lines up nicely.

Using the parallel ramps also found in the NAM at the start of a sunken section also looks great!

... And the on-slope highway puzzle pieces help you make proper highway interchanges as well:

So, I hope these show you that it can look good nowadays.   I would not use sunken highways if they were an eyesore for my cities.

    Best,

Something I REALLY wish they would come out with is an offramp that CONVERTS into a oneway road rather than MERGING into a oneway road like the parralell ramp does. It sounds so incredibaly simple yet noone's done it.. ..It's been done for the elevated highway, just not the ground :-\

It may sound simple, but to mod a 3-D based interchange is incredibly difficult, especially for the ground highway.

This has been requested dozens, if not hundreds of times, so there is quite a good demand for it.  The problem is that many members that know how to model this stuff have either been inactive for a long time or are on to other projects.  They are always looking for a helping hand!

Ok, perhaps someone could help me.

I was in the process of constructing a sunken highway system for my new city, Italia.

However, for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get the Avenue across the highway. Could someone show me or explain me to how to do that?
