The prior post on the East-LA Interchange only shows half of the overall structure. The complete structure is shown below, with the former picture marked in a green outline.
/idealbb/files/east-la-interchange.JPG
Although it's not officially named as such, i like to think of the part in green as the East-LA Interchange: Proper and the part in the blue box as the Greater East-LA Interchange. But it's really all one big interchange.

The upper section features neat things like an HOV psuedo-freeway that splits appart from the San Bernardion Freeway east of the city. It either deposits you stright into a bus terminal near the civic center, or sends you back onto the north-bound hollywood freeway for driving straight through town, bypassing the complicated interchanges in both cases.

The lower section is just basically a four-level stacked interchange with a Y attached to one end, which reminds me...

Does anybody else feel really gypt that Maxis didn't include a four-level interchange in Rush Hour as a space-saving (yet expensive) alternative to the depressingly out-dated cloverleaf?

edit: What I mean by pseudo-freeway is that it splits off from the regular freeway, completely seperate, and it has two lanes, for passing (something LA carpool lanes badly need. Either passing lanes or the ability to jump into and out of the carpool lane at will, instead of having to wait for an entry point.)

Here is my soon to be fully functional Cheyenne Bay Central Interchange.
/idealbb/files/CBCI1.jpg

I hope the intersection shall become affectionatlry now as 'The Shredder'.  I can see the collision shops popping up know in the low density area north of the interchange<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/22.gif>

Funny how the world works, isn't it? I was just about to suggest you whacked that interchange into this contest at the multi-highway fun! thread. <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/22.gif>

I put it in the multi highway fun too and I thought that I could put it here too. I DID build it, I've not taken an interchange which isn't mine. I know that you've not said that, cammo 2003, but I want to make sure.

These highways seem so confusing from the air. Truth is, it's not that confusing on the ground if you know how to read signs. Kinda funny actually. BTW i thought it was a contest for Simcity 4 interchanges not real life ones. Theres like 90 percent more real interchange pictures than SC4 interchanges.

[Edit] Never mind, but anyway, all the interchanges are giving me a headache. BTW, i just read the thread of one way highways, and you put 2 ground hiways right next to eachtoehr and put an elavated highway inbetween. Demolish the elavated highway and you get the one ways.

     Another interchange... The 12-Double-Highway Interchange/idealbb/files/genview11.jpg

(The map is a medium one) /idealbb/files/Close-up1.jpg

This is a close up. Do you see the railway cloverleaf?<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files/Ncenter.jpg>

On this pic, you can see the middle cloverleaf. There are 12 highways, 10 tunnels and 1 cloverleaf.

Downtown Columbus has seen a bit of reworking on the Innerbelt (I-70/71, I-71, I-670, OH-315) in the last decade. With the completion of the Spring-Sandusky Interchange project, the West and North segments of the Innerbelt have been completely rebuilt. The South Innerbelt, where I-70 and I-71 share the same 1.5 miles of highway, is the most accident-prone freeway in Ohio. ODOT is beginning the process of re-designing the freeway. I've done my own design for how it should look (not really to scale, but showing general configuration and number of lanes) if they do it right. You can find it on my Interchange Gallery.

Damn you Daeley! This nearly made me wet my panties. This is fricken hilarious. THis is by far the funnies thing I've seen in at least a week.
    21.gif

This is positively ingenious! Two major 3-lane high speed arteries intersecting at a 4 way stop. Hell there isn't even a double yellow line. Someone should build this thing just to photograph the looks on the faces of people stuck waiting at this intersection.

Wow, great interchanges guys.  I like Lord Mayors.  It may not be complex, but it functions quite well for a six highway junction.

Was this a contest for the best overall interchange, craziness included?
Or was it a contest for the best working interchange in a city?

Well, I would suume that it's the most outstanding interchange, or the interchange thats the most memorable. I think all factors count, especially creativity. And since I don't have a lot of creativity, I will not be making anything in this contest...

I know this is late, but after I made my interchange last night, I tried and tried to get on Simtrop, but it wasn't working. I had to wait until after school today to get it up here. So here it is.

And yes, the server was down for a long duration yesterday might.......seems like its crashing more and more often.8.gif

This may be a bit off-topic, but seeing all these highways, I noticed ground highway to avenue interchanges. I dont remember seeing how to make those in the game... How is that accomplished?

You can just drag some avenue off of the end of a ground level highway, as long as you have RH.

timing has never been one of my strongpoints, but here are 2 mildly interesting interchanges:/idealbb/files/Clarp
this is in a city of mine named clarp, and I did this because there was not enough room for a T-interchange between the grey highway bridge and the other highway.

    /idealbb/files/Cosine
this one is in a city named Cosine, and I did not feel like making a regular intersection so I toyed around until that came out.

I know how to make ground highways turn into avenues and vice versa, but what I mean is how do you make onramps/offramps from ground highways to avenues? There is the ploppable tool in the transportation menu that allows you to make ground highway interchanges to 2-lane roads, but not one for avenues. Then I see all this highway images with avenue to ground highway on/offramps.
If there is a tuturial out there about this, please let me know.

    thanks
