The thing that really confuses me is how the intersections for roads and one-ways is correct in the american sense, but the avenue intersections are inccorrect in the american sense. It would be nice for someone to create a mod with two files, one that corrects the stop-light positions for people wanting american cities (putting all the stoplights on the opposite side of the intersection), then another file that is for european cities (puts all stoplights on the closest side of the intersection).

SC4Tool - Reference and Visual Editor for BATs and Lots
slincoln replied to Andreas Roth's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
I get an error when using the exemplar editor. I am trying to edit the capacity satisfied and the occupantgroups in a lot, and after doing so i try to save and i get Error! Data not saved! It has done this with the exemplar editor for another file as well. I can edit the capacity satisfied in the Comparer tool and it saves fine, just having issues with the Exemplar Editor. Thanks for any help people might have. -
SWAP, SimWings Airport Pack: Support/General Disussion Thread
slincoln replied to xiziz's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
I too have experienced crashing with the SWAP airport pack. The city where i built the custom airport will not load, as i crashes the game when i click on it to load in the region view. Cities with the airport tram will load correctly. -
I tend to go for the American downtown look... where its mostly low-rises until you get to a central core where the buildings are the tallest.
-
I am a big fan of realistic looking downtown areas; for example, gradual change from low-rise to high-rise, and a small area of of the highest buildings. Here are screenshots of two different cities: Long Harbor Oceanview

I also cannot get the stack interchange to place. Is there some special way to do it? I am unable to place it in the middle of nowhere, or even on a ground highway / elevated highway cross-over.

Network Addon + High Wealth Res = A big no no, apparently
slincoln replied to Tebok's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
I also seem to be having the same problem. Funny thing is, alot of the abandoning people live within a few blocks of downtown or a major industrial area.... -
Shasta, cloverleafs are used alot, but not a whole lot in big dense metro areas like a downtown. They would be used for major highways / interstates / freeways meeting out in the open, or in suburban areas. Stacks and partial stacks are good for downtown or other dense population areas.

Date:7/29/2004 2:32:20 PM Author:shasta Who in their right mind would want to build an incomplete (partial cloverleaf) interchange??? It makes no sense!!!!! quote> Partial interchanges are realistic, thats why people want to build them. There are many instances when these interchanges would be selected. Sometimes certain buildings cannot be torn down for the ramps, or perhaps there are other obstacles. Sometimes the ramps are not needed, like when a downtown area has a cross interchange with a downtown loop and downtown spur freeway. Commuters wont need to get onto the loop while exiting downtown, they'll just want to get on the spur and head outward. Sometimes you would want partial stack interchanges with cloverleafs. Sometimes there are the main flow of commuting traffic goes between two of the four freeways meeting at the interchange, like when there is a freeway going right near downtown and another further out of the city. The best way to avoid traffic problems is to do a half stack so that the none of the commuters have to do a loop. A majority of the traffic is easily carried on ramps. The light traffic that would want to head away from downtown from the residential areas would get a loop.

A city that most would overlook when thinking of high-rise buildings would be Des Moines, IA. Des Moines is second only to Hartford, CT, as the Insurance capital of the United States, so it does have several tall buildings for a metro area of only 500,000. The 801 grand building is the tallest building in Des Moines, and in Iowa. It is 630 ft tall with 44 floors. The architecture of the 801 grand building would sure be worth the challenge to BAT designers.

Thanks for your help. I dont remember reading about that at all in the stuff about Rush Hour.

I know how to make ground highways turn into avenues and vice versa, but what I mean is how do you make onramps/offramps from ground highways to avenues? There is the ploppable tool in the transportation menu that allows you to make ground highway interchanges to 2-lane roads, but not one for avenues. Then I see all this highway images with avenue to ground highway on/offramps. If there is a tuturial out there about this, please let me know. thanks

This may be a bit off-topic, but seeing all these highways, I noticed ground highway to avenue interchanges. I dont remember seeing how to make those in the game... How is that accomplished?
